  • 99% of the vinyl I use on my channel is Specialty Materials Brands I have tried many kinds over the years, and they are my absolute favorite. The quality is top-notch, I have a video where I wash a shirt 50 times, and the vinyl still looks brand new. • Thermoflex vs. Siser: ... They have the most extensive range of products and colors around ( there are over 90 colors in the ThermoFlex Plus and GlitterFlex Ultra lines alone). They also offer free product samples on their website, which you don’t see anymore. Trust me, request a sample because if you try it, you will know why I love it.

I agree the closest friends/family always try to get something for free or they always do the run arounds and never pay up.

I've been doing this for about 7 months or so. So I have learned a lot of stuff from you and others. Thank you so much for all the amazing videos! I watched this video so that I could see the difference of what I'm doing, what I use, etc., from what you use. I was happy to know that I'm doing lots of things like you 😊 I'm looking to expand but for now, I'm definitely on the right track!

Great video with lots of tips and suggestions! I'm super excited to start my small business just in time for Mardi Gras!! I just ordered a few more supplies from your store, a heat and mug press from Amazon, and my vinyl came in last week. NOLA get ready!!!! Let The Good Times Roll!!! 💜💚💛💜💚💛 Thank you so much...this video came at the right time❤️❤️😊

You’re right about not taking on more than you can fulfill. I just started out. The other thing is to price appropriately. I charged less than I should have for a couple of intricate designs. Just something else to think about. Thanks for all you do Betsy!

I just ordered a heat press from Amazon this evening. The Mophorn 15x15 8 in 1. I have the 12x12 Easy Press but I can never tell how much pressure I need to apply. I've been wanting to start a small business but need to be able to produce designs on garments that are gonna last. I'm super excited for my new heat press to arrive!! Who knows, maybe I'll end up growing and having a successful business like you!!

Betsy, I've been enjoying your videos for a while now, as well as those of Martin Butler in the UK. I'm in Australia and have had my ScanNCut for a year and the Studio program for my daughter's Cameo for a few years. Made an etched pie dish for my chef grandson and I'd love to do some signage for his commercial kitchen - once he realizes that Grandma is indeed a genius and can do anything. Am hoping to buy my first heat press sometime next week from a store that specialises in vinyls, etc. So, when I turned on my TV this morning, there was your very concise video, posted 51 minutes earlier - couldn't have been timed any better. Your comment about Oracal 631 was informative - it's hot and humid here in summer and that is important for me to know. I really love your work.

Missed you over the holidays. Hope you & your family had a great time. Glad your back safe & sound. I have to tell you OMG...I thought you had maybe 1 of your daughters or a niece or friend... someone sitting in for you. You look so young and cute without all that make up. Not that your not cute with it...lol ( please don't take that the wrong way) and your new hairstyle. Only when you started talking then I realized it was you. Honestly you look maybe 16/17... Well I've never seen you without all your make up....So bye the way..lol... thanks for sharing your time and knowledge about a business. Glad your back, have a blessed day.

You can get an Adobe CC monthly subscription for not too expensive each month and it includes all updates. I use the photography subscription that includes Lightroom and Photoshop which as standalone is out of my price range. Illustrator is also one you can do on subscription so well worth checking out.

Great info! So true ...... friends & family....... I’ve done sewing jobs, cake decorating and misc crafter type things that “they just can’t do!” They can love your work and adore you...... until you charge for something....... then, very picky..... or “I’ll catch you later” (payment never comes). Only do things for fun now! If it’s a special request and I don’t have what it takes (which is rare!) they have to buy what it takes and accept the end results with a smile! (My daughter laughs at me “you’re so cute!” Because I’m super picky! She’s ready to accept more then I’m willing to let go “as is!”) I have no desire to start a business at this time..... I’m enjoying old age and doing what I want too much! But, who knows what the future holds! Thanx! Miss your dailies..... but still enjoy what I see! Thanx!

Cricut revamped their vinyl. They now have permanent adhesive. They also revamped their htv as well. Do you add water to your denatured alcohol? I purchased the natural version at Lowe’s and it says four ounces to a gallon of water? Just wanted to know if you use it full strength or with water added. Thank you for any help. Are you planning on having anymore bundles like that soon? By the way, I love watching your videos. I've had a Cricut Mini for years & I've never used it before. You're helping me to get my nerves up to try it though. Especially, with these new, Cricut 4 Dummies, videos. Hi Betsy! Thanks for the video it’s awesome! I have a question on starting the vinyl business. Some say stick with decals only due to the high profit margins, others say do shirts...what is your opinion on this...I’d like to start the business and I want it to stay a small to medium business. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the video! Would the easy press be enough heat and okay for me to start out with for items I’m selling ? Is it hot enough ? And even heat?

Can you possibly do a video on coreldraw? I’ve been thinking of jumping off and getting it. I agree with you on the cricut vinyl. Way to expensive and the quality it just not there.

I started my business about a month ago and it hasn’t gotten big yet. I’ve maybe made $200 so far. How long does it take? Or should I change products?

Question. The does the denatured alcohol come in a can and you just transfer it to a spray bottle? I just want to make sure I’m looking at the right thing at the store. :-)
