Christina Rossetti read by Doug Bradley is an epic Halloween Celebration indeed! What tremendous talents! Thank you for this and the incredible background history. I narrated her haunting ‘A Chilly Night’ before learning she was dying when she wrote it. That poem still haunts me.
Thank you so very, very much. Just beautiful, both the poem and the recitation. Just fantastic! I find myself stunned, rendered nearly incapable of expressing my appreciation. A fine Halloween it has turned out to be.
I see Max Schreck, Lon Chaney, his son Creighton, Boris Karloff, Peter Cushing, Peter Lorre, Vincent Price and Elsa Lanchester. Too bad no Lugosi visible, but he is in Ghost Of Frankenstein. Very well done, thank you.
Remember singing the choral version of "In the bleak midwinter". Shining, calm and heartfelt peacefulness. I feel safe and hopeful listening to the incorruptable and just Cenobite Leader holding up the candle in keeping precious things alive in this age of uncertainty. In short: Thanks a lot for the readings. 🦔
Thank you so much for choosing this poem to read on this night! I love stories and poems about fey that treat them as they should be talked of: both terrible and beautiful, frightening but filling one with awe at the same time. Years ago we did read some of this to our daughter when she was little, not the whole poem but the come buy portion with its bounty of descriptions and fruits. Hearing you read the whole thing, I don't think this is a poem 'for children' though it could certainly be enjoyed by them there is a lot going on (forgive the comparison but akin to watching Chuck Jones cartoons as a child and loving them, then seeing them again as an adult). Thank you for the history and in particular about her charity work with sex workers, particularly child sex trafficked ones. At the end the sister story telling and how they help one another really felt like more of that 'found families helping hold each other up against the ills and evils of the world'' than actual blood relations even though in the poem that is how it is told. So once again, thank you so much! Your beautiful reading of a very long and marvelous poem has made my Hallows Eve a very terribly joyous one!
I heard this when I was in elementary school, and the Music/Art classes were just Halloween themed videos and audiobooks to keep us quiet while the teachers worked. I really enjoy it!
The sole reason i keep checking Yt as often and hoping a treat from my favorite story teller. Today is a perfect day! There's not enough words for me to say how much I appreciate each of those readings. Thank you! I tried to show support also via store too, but unfortunately I get 'weight' error for anything i try, but least i have the YT offering me some solace :)
Sorry to hear you're having trouble ordering from Doug's store. Email dougbradleyinfo@gmail.com, and we should be able to help you out. And thanks to you - and all of you! - for the kind words and support.
How long I've been waiting for the new video of your readings, Mr. Bradley, and finally it's here... Happy belated Halloween, and thank you so very much for this perfect Halloween gift 🎃🙏🖤
This was great. I knew of Rossetti mostly through the "In the Bleak Mid'Winter" and I also had heard of this poem, but had never read or heard it. It was heartwarming and surprisingly moving at the end, but I suspect that is part of Rossetti's style -- were her denouements reward the reader. The language was terrific and I can see why actors might want to read it aloud and wrangle with the words.
I love the genius mind behind this idea that's full of beautiful irony. You pull horror movie fans onto UA-cam to listen to classic literature. I adore you, Sir.
Thank you, Mr. Bradley! Happy Halloween! What a wonderful video, a real gift for my good mood! You have a wonderful voice) I like that you read us wonderful classics. When I listen to you, I forget about the problems of this world, I calm down and can transfer my soul to fantastic places where I will never visit in reality. This is very important to me, and it makes me happier) Thank you for your work! Inspiration and happiness to you) Keep it up!🔥❤️🔥
Honestly, this is the first audio of yours that I listened to/watched) It was wonderful. I was very impressed. I was completely immersed in the atmosphere of the poem. It was piercing to tears... I want to believe that each of us has the right to hope and salvation in the end, whatever it may be. Thank you!!!!
A reading from this gentleman on Halloween is no trick, but such a treat.
The best voice for horror audiobooks. 🎃🎃🎃

The leader of the Cenobites himself reading to us in Halloween. Too good to be truth. Greetings Doug!
