I´m from Mexico. And have some old Michael Jackson LP´s from the 80´s, and more recent CD´s (I like him a lot). But when I saw for the first time Chiranjeevi and this Golimar song I was so confused at first.....(that was 10 years ago) NOW I really became a Chiranjeevi fan.. Golimar was the begining of something new for me.
We can't say that Jackson was introduced in the certain period. But One can say that Chiranjeevi has introduced A new era of dance to the Indian cinema. And you have seen his movie Syraa. And he just celebrated his 65th birthday. The first actor from South India who got invitation for Oscars. You can absolutely equate him with Amithabh Bacchan and Rajinikanth.

@Smart It Is Hi , when you see Michael Jackson and other great dancers you feel "WOW" .. but he is not like that. When you watch him dance you say "COOL..." With a smile. His style makes any silly move look good. And to highlight he is not a dancer but an actor first and one of the best actor makes him a complete package. His style was so good that even today whole tollywood tries to imitate him but failed to perfect or make it their own... Suggesting list is difficult but here is a decent compilation of his best moves...

Well guys ! People in 90's called him as supreme hero then it's turned into Megastar. And more interesting part is early directors called him as combination of kamal hassan and rajinikanth. Because he can act like rajini and dance like kamal hasson. Without any reference he came to film industry and people loved his mass ,classic,devotional comedy,dances movies etc made him superstar

I m glad you both liked him and the song. However, We Indians have been suggesting wrong songs of Mega Star Chiranjeevi. There are a lot of songs that have original choreography and some of those songs were choreographed by Prabhu Deva whom both Rick and Korbin love. Suggest the right ones.

Few facts :
1.As far a s i remember, MJ's BAD (1987) was more popular in India than his Thriller and it was one of the highest sold audio then reason being the Video (cassettes) reached every corner of India & Smooth criminal was a big hit here too.
2.Chiranjeevi wasnt a big star when this song was filmed
3.Director K. Rami Reddy saw the Thriller Video and wanted to remake it in India. so he created a sequence in his next film (DONGA- 1984-85) for this song and asked his choreographers to watch Thriller video . They felt that there were very few moves which can be taken from the original version so end up indianising the thriller .
3. Chiranjeevi was a busy artist then. He used to do 7-8 films per year. Obviously he dint had much time to watch original version and did whatever teh choreographers suggested. He was such a fast learner that he was kind of "watch and dance" guy. He admitted later that he only saw MJ's thriller after he did this song. and then learnt the art of Break Dance by just watching couple of his videos
4. Interesting fact is that this song was not popular then in early eighties. All other songs in this movie were hits.
5. This should be the first attempt of break dance in india ad bollywood dint know until Govinda arrived in 1986

Chiranjeevi is called Megastar (not superstar). He used to be the highest-paid actor till Rajnikanth's peak success in movies. He was the first in India to be paid more than 10 million INR (rupees), which at that time, 1990 was more than that of Amitabh Bachchan.. That justifies that every actor is not called a SUPERSTAR in south India. Telugu and Tamil film industry were always 2nd / 3rd after Bollywood. There a point Telugu industry was even bigger than Bollywood for a brief period (quote by Amitabh Bachchan himself).
Rajnikanth went to peaks after that too because of his market strategies across andhra n kerala..but just confining to only telugu states chiranjeevi was charging almost same as rajni...it was his biggest mistake not to expand his market to tamilnadu though he was having good following there
