I find especially the very beginning absolutely tasteful and emotional. Thanks for uploading and playing it so well
Bass can be super simple. It can also be the hardest instrument to play. It's not about the size but the motion in the ocean :P Carlos was an incredible bass player for Interpol. There are a lot of really good bass players out there. A lot of people would be surprised how crucial bass is to the entire song. Drums and bass are the heart of a good band. You will and probably have noticed that in a good band the bass and drums are always in sync. IMO bands like that are the greatest. I am a bass player myself and I can never get enough of a good band like this. Plus I mean come on... That fucking tone? If you ever get the chance to play a bass just pay attention to how it vibrates through your whole entire body. That's one of the big reasons I leaned towards bass. It's seriously the best instrument.

So many bass players look bored and make it a lifeless instrument. I think that'w what I like so much about Carlos, he brought some attitude to it.
saw this live in CA c2006. While it was one of my great life experiences, it is now just a memory. I'd love to be back there... hearing a live ish, version for the first time, ALMOST takes me back to that moment.
