Joged Bumbung is one of the traditional and social dances in Bali. Usually this dance is performed in social events in Bali, such as weddings, in the post-harvest season, and holidays. This Joged dance became a Balinese social dance which later became a tradition. Joged Bumbung is also included as one of the nine Balinese dances which are the world's intangible cultural heritage.
Joged Bubung also inspired the release of a new type of dance known as the Agirang Dance. Joged Bumbung dance contains moral values ​​and raises social themes. The purpose of the creation of the Agirang dance is to change the Balinese perception of the Joged Bumbung dance which has developed more erotically. Joged Bumbung is expected to continue to have high cultural values ​​that serve as entertainment for local people and tourists.
Dance History:
This dance is thought to have originated from the Buleleng area and has been around since the 1940s. This dance was originally a social dance created by farmers to entertain while resting after working in the barn. This dance is also in great demand by the public and becomes an art group. Joged Bumbung is a participatory dance, by inviting the audience to dance together. It is danced by female dancers, who then look for a male partner from the audience to dance with. This joged roof dance has an agile and dynamic movement pattern and is performed with full improvisation from the dancers.
Gamelan:
Gambelan Jogeg Bumbung is a barungan gambelan that is used to accompany the Joged Bumbung dance. Gambelan Joged Bumbung is also called Gambelan Gerantangan, because the main instrument is Gerantang, namely the gender made of bamboo, in the form of bamboo and using a 5 (five) tone slendro barrel.
