    I’m a 14 year old Washington resident with really bad depression. I just want to let you know that you’ve helped me find something I genuinely love and now I’m going to be spending an entire week in a forest with 2 others. Thank you Les stroud.

    I'm 20 years old living in my own first apartment, and Survivorman is one of the few positive consistencies I've had ever since I was a child. Not only is it entertaining, but it's genuinely real, which is part of what's so entertaining about it. The older I get, the more I appreciate the nostalgia and the work you do. Thank you for keeping one of the last pieces of my childhood alive.

    I am from Grenada. Its very nice to see my country being featured on your channel. This is how the locals catch crayfish. Chew coconut finely so its hard for them to pick up. Spit a small amount in the water. The crayfish will come out to eat the coconut then you catch them with the hook using a earth worm.

      Cut a 2 liter coke bottle in half, flip the side around where you pour the coke and stick it inside the bottom half of the bottle and tape them together. Then drop some raw meat in the bottle and leave it in the water. The crawdads can go in the bottle to eat the meat and can't get out.

    • @katehall2027
      @katehall2027 2 роки тому +8

      @@outlawgt3045 When I was in Oregon, a local taught me to take a forked stick and cut it so the two "tines" of the "fork" were very short. Then you pin the crawdad down by putting the stick just behind their head so they can't move or pinch you. Then grab it with your hand (very carefully, lol) and throw it in your bucket.
      It's so cool that crawdads are found all over the world and different people have figured out so many different ways to catch them. But, considering how delicious they are, I am not surprised!

      You can’t really class this real survival as he only does it for 1 week only, anyone could survive a week. It would be interesting if Les does it longer then 1 week to see if he could make it with that minimal food intake he does as after 2 weeks he wouldn’t even be able to walk far from weakness.

      not too sure about that. i'm used to watching guys who go in with nothing, Survive That, Dual Survival, Matt Graham, Ed Stafford, Hazen Audel etc. i recently watched my first Survivorman episode (romania) and this chap went in more kitted out than a mid-sized DIY store... he had a lighter, matches, ferrell rod, alcohol stove, energy and protein bars, beef jerky, a full cook-set with 3 containers for water, sealable plastic and garbage bags, modern compass, he even had 3 different fleeces despite simulating someone "on a day hike". he walks about on some trails and then proceeds to trigger a GPS signal and just wait for the rescue team to come find him. at one point he even spends a good 10 minutes doing a tech keynote on his various recording methods and the captivating world of SD cards and batteries...

      not doubting he may know his stuff, but there was literally 0 demonstration of any primitive or bush craft skills, hunting, trapping, navigating or orienteering, shelter building, fire starting or anything else you'd expect from an expert demonstrating how to handle oneself in a survival situation...

      Man vs Wild lost me, I think in Scotland, when Bear set himself up for the night. They stopped filming, loaded into their vehicles and went to a hotel. The next morning they came back to the location and resumed filming. The show may still have information and be entertaining, but he is NOT doing it. I know he can, but how many times have they faked it or staged an encounter or event? We'll never know.

      @@desertshield living there in all honesty is amazing especially where I live close to the Beach on a hill the view is breath taking. It get really hot sometimes in dry season around the coast lands like mostly all Caribbean islands. The biggest and in my opinion the most beautiful beach is grand ans beach the water is crystal clear And the sand is as white as it can be. Going to the Beach always feels very relaxing if you lay down the sea breeze is bound to make you fall asleep. And then there are the waterfalls there are so many beautiful waterfalls and the nature that surrounds them is lush and lively as can be the journey alone to the different water falls can be breathing taking because the roads are surrounded by rainforest and there is this one beautiful lake where a durmant volcano once stood and around the island there or different hot natural hot springs . There is much more about Grenada that I didn't speak about. If you would like to know more or see pictures taken there you can text me on Instagram I'll send you pictures or tell you more. Les is amazing. The Stevie Wonder of survival, if you will (with some serious musical chops as well!) I started watching his show over a decade ago and have watched them all countless times. Never gets old because it’s authentic. The amount of experience and work it takes to make it look this easy is to be admired. I knew this dude was authentic when he filmed himself crossing a glacier, which meant he also had to go back and get the camera!

    My absolute favorite thing about your videos, is how you catch how all these different kinds of nature actually feels like to be in. Normally in documentaries, all these beautiful shots are enhanced with an overuse of lensing effects in order to "enhance" how they look, making them more flashy and what not, ruins the feeling. But not your documentaries, I can really feel the environment. The way you try to shoot every crevice and all those details in your surroundings really helps, really cool technique and style. Thank you man, I salute you.

    I used to watch every episode he put out while it was on TV, there were a lot of shows of survival but they always had crews with them and to me some of them felt kinda fake and scripted. But with Les it was genuine because he was alone and he was doing all the filming and I even learned a few things from him and used them while I was working for Yellowstone national park as we were backpacking out in the country to work on trails that were washed out or needed repairs. I love him for posting all his episodes on UA-cam for us to watch takes me back as a kid. Thank you les
