Wolves need automatic health regeneration like horses so they don’t die constantly, as well as improved AI so they don’t walk into lava or fall into ravines. Otherwise they will continue to be rather useless.
You can feed them to raise their tail back up and restore their health
@@r.carter8378which isn’t passive health regen like Nephelangelo said. And I agree with them, it needs to happen.
No but it's a different way of regenerating. On purpose. Just carry around rotten flesh to feed your wolves. They made the decision on purpose, why reverse it?
Otherwise allow the armor to be enchanted so Fire Protection can protect from lava and Feather Falling to protect from ravines
@@r.carter8378😂
Not being able to dye the wolf armour is a HUGE dropped ball
It’s still in early development so maybe if enough suggestions are sent we could get Mojang to do it?
Its great & everything except when you tame a wolf it becomes a dog, so its dog armor. Unless its armor for an untamed mob
Minecraft players when the feature in development lacks features
@@NightcaatDecorated pots didn’t get a feature until the next full update. They sat there with no reason to exist until 1.21.
This could be because we may be able to trim the armor
I really hope they move the eyes back to the sides of the head. It was much cuter that way. Plus that’s where their eyes are in real life.
I think they are omnivores?
Fun fact: This is because predators need depth perception to hunt and ambush. Prey just need to know where a predator is so they can bolt in the opposite direction. :D
No, that's completely incorrect. Some predator species do indeed have forward-facing eyes, but that in no conceivable way suggests is indicative of _exclusively_ predators having forward-facing eyes. In addition, armadillos are themselves predators and feast on small insects, which compromise a substantial part of their diet. Please educate yourself and refrain from spreading misinformation.
@@JennyNobody They are. I am surprised at how few people know that. Still, it's not much of an issue unless they say things that are false
@@godofmath1039 ok, sorry. Thank you for educating me. I’ll edit my comment.
armadillos are passive, not neutral, which is why they don't attack you back.
Yes. The Minecraft Wiki says that they are passive as well. I don't get why Mojang calls it neutral, as the definition of neutral mobs is "Mobs that are sometimes passive and sometimes hostile to the player" and the armadillo ***never*** attacks the player.
@@BeardedMan8319 It's also odd how the ocelot is obviously a passive mob and never attacks the player, and yet the game treats it like a hostile mob and makes it despawn if you get too far away from it, or something like that.
I also find it odd how Peaceful removes hostile mobs and some neutral mobs, and yet while a pretty chill neutral mob like the Enderman doesn't spawn, a very aggressive and hostile mob like Hoglins DO spawn...
Minecraft logic XD
Since decorated pots are still aren't dyeable despite the overwhelming requests, I think I'll be expecting the same for this to at least minimize disappointment.
That said, one of the suggestions for the pots later came (the ability to store items in them), so there's probably still a teeny weeny chance, lol
Its almost like dog armor could have been easily implemented as leather (for dying) and chain (for higher defense) and didnt need to be tied to a mob vote.
@@aceplante Hell if they wanted to make it unique then even rabbit hide would have done it
Armadillos can eat spider eyes but frogs can't eat fireflies 🤦🏼♂️
Cuz thay eat spiders
Spider Eyes are poisonous to players, so we’ll have to remove them and make Armadillos eat Pufferfish instead.
@@goatmagic6845 the eye is poisonous tho
@@saharbirenboim2338 to the player yes
Removed poison from the game; is actually poisonous to players in real life
Since they’re updating wolves, they really need to improve their behavior a bit. Instead of wolves having only two binary behavioral states, where they are either stuck in a sitting position forever or they follow the player around all over the place, wolves should actually have a state where they roam around and defend their “home” territory, which could be a radius around the players’ bed. And as an homage to movies like Homeward Bound, when you’re out exploring with your wolf, you should be able to get them to lead you all the way back home.
That dolphin-like behaviour where the dog leads you home is an excellent idea!
That would be awesome
Is it just me or are they shying away from making you kill mobs? I very much thought you'd have to kill them to get the scute
They are, killing = bad to Mojang now
Yeah, that's why they haven't added a new meat in over ten years
Mojang's current design philosophy directly contradicts the game

@@plumfadoodle4908 I was just making a joke.
Wolf armor should also automatically turn off friendly fire for dogs so you don’t accidentally hit them when attacking mobs
Correction, they do not get a defense buff when in a ball, which makes no sense
I think the armadillo armor should be like the shield where they curl up into a ball and have damage immunity
That’s a good idea

I sure hope you can trim this Armour. Having matching trims with your dog 🐕 is the only way I'm okay with the armadillo winning the mob vote😂
the timeline is really good in the case of greifing, where normally you would have to find out the date of the change based on the back ups and then ask around and hope for the best or something. now you can just look at who was online when that backup was created
I would like to think by the time this update actually comes out I think they'll be able to have the armor be able to be tired of different colors or have like the armor designs on it as well something to that degree
I think we should be able to breed armadillo’s with beetroot. It would give beetroot a purpose. It would be nice to able to feed them both spider eyes and beetroot like you can with pigs (carrots, potatoes, beetroot). That way people on peaceful or who just don’t like killing spiders, can still breed armadillo’s if they want to.
Great idea
Armadillos are carnivorous.
@@BeardedMan8319 I’m no armadillo expert 😅, so I did a quick google search. Apparently they will eat fruits, vegetables, root vegetables like carrots and beets, and mushrooms. However, they are classified as insectivores because insects make up the majority of their diet. Insert “the more you know” rainbow here. 😊
Also pigs are bred with carrots, potatoes and beetroot.

They should add enchtments for the armor like things to make the dogs faster, stronger, thinks like fire and Poison.
I think thorns would be nice because as it stands the armor doesn’t negate the fact that dogs have weak attacks
That would also mean adding enchantments to horse armor.
@gameyfirebro9645 is that a bad thing?
Also, not really because dogs are attacked animals, so they need enchants to make them more powerful, but horses are transportation so there wouldn't be much of a use for it.

I think it's great, I just want them to move the eyes to the side of the head to look better
If Stampy hadn’t ended is Lovely World Series already, he definitely would’ve gotten one for all of his dogs
Would be nice if it was also used for unique armour. Like a chestplate that gives you turtle master when you crouch. But this is alright too.
I got an idea. Make it so that when the armadillo is curled up into a ball it is invulnerable to damage, and carry that functions over to the wolf as well. If you're a wolf drops below zero HP it will curl up into a ball and shimmy towards you (teleport if too far away) . You can revive it if you give it enough food, 25 pieces of uncooked food or 10 pieces of cooked food.

@@The.Nasty. I know, but my mission was to get a good laugh.
Is it just me who wishes the armor was 3d textured and not just a flat input on the dog?
Something that I think could help pet armor in general is if they make the mobs in question resistant to sweeping strikes from swords: they would still react to the blows but would not take any damage
The eyes would look better on the sides of its head
They changed beds but won’t add new dogs
For those of you that do not know. Dog armor has already been confirmed to be as strong as Diamond.
Not that it matters since they still die instantly to explosions and mobs will never target your dog anyway
@@EmperorPenguin1217 They don't instantly die if you are actually intelligent.
@@EmperorPenguin1217 You don't necessarily want Mobs to target your Wolf. They are there for support and a last line of defense. You are the Tank and they are additional DPS and Crowd Control. Do you guys actually even know how utilize Wolves in combat? Lol I guess not.
@@mee091000 The players intelligence doesn’t usually matter when it’s the wolf’s atrocious AI that gets itself killed in the first place. I said that mobs won’t ever go after your wolf in the first place, they always target you. They aren’t even good at those two since they do very poor and slow damage, and they can only target one at a time. The entire reason nobody uses them is because they suck
@@EmperorPenguin1217 It is player intelligence. Because everyone that voted crab made the exact same arguments. You all are utilizing the Wolves incorrectly and have no situational awareness. Basically you are the kind of people that couldn't play Skyrim with non essential Followers. Because you kept killing them by mistake.
Voted for the crab, but I love the armadillo's design. It's so cute
The crab would have potentially revolutionized how we play the game, building, and especially pvp if it worked there.
The penguin was clearly the worst of the three. All it does is makes the already fast boats even faster?? Glad it didn't win.
Dog armor though, is something that minecraft has needed for many years. Except, it could have been easily implemented as leather (for dying) and chain (for higher defense) and didnt need to be tied to a mob vote.
but now seeing it, the armadillo is cute I guess? Still a poor implementation of dog armor.
@@aceplante I completely agreed on that during the vote, that's why I voted for the crab. Mojang have said multiple times before that mob vote concepts can be used again later and I honestly would've preferred wolf armor to be implemented like horse armor. The current implementation is pretty strong though, which I wasn't expecting, and is only in it's early design phase so we could get dyable armor if we continue to ask for it.
Using a brush to get the scutes just feels weird... Like, I guess it makes sense in a way? Still seems a little odd though.
The armour needs to be far stronger than that, otherwise it's still not worth bringing em on adventures with you. The dog should be able to survive fighting a hoard of mobs with you without you needing to worry about it during the fight, even moreso when the dogs simply just traveling with you. Period. Your horse isn't fighting the mobs. Your dog does. It needs at least Protection III diamond armour level of strength.
This is why I voted for crab. Wolves still die easily to lava or creepers and even worse we can’t die the armour.
@@1mm0rtal- I voted crab too. It's the one that looked the most Minecrafty
They should give wolves automatic health regen like horses, and also improve their AI so they don’t wander into lava or fall down ravines.
I think cat armor and fox armor would be cool as well add more use then just wolf armor or any tamable mob in Minecraft would be cool
Yeeeeeeeessssssssssss!!!!
I've needed the timeline thingy for soooooo long! People keep breaking basic rules on my realm such as DO NOT NUKE OTHER PEOPLES BASES. It would take weeks or months to figure out who did it but with the timeline I can do it in hours or even minutes. I am very happy about this update. 10/10 would recomend
They must updates dogs. Make wolf a separate race of dogs, give dogs different traits and a way to keep them alive, like respawn totem to a dog. Also, the wolf armor it's not like is protecting the wolf so much. Maybe it's possibile to combine the wolf armor with turtles shells and get a better armor to protect a dog. It's a shame that whetever creeper explode they will die despite having a wolf armor.
But if you don't give it food in time it will die, maybe like 10 minutes.
@@Mr.scooter-le8yo I guess it can be funny, sure it's better than nothing
They should let you use the armor trims to the wolf armor.
So lemme get this straight. An armadillo scute is a piece of its natural armor broken off, correct? So the _only_ way they’ve implemented to obtain them is by you using the softest/most delicate tool on them? How does that make any sense whatsoever?
Ur brushing the shedded scutes off? And because the brush is so delicate but the scutes r hard it takes a lot of durability? How doesnt that make sense?
@@arnez6179
The fact that you can _only_ get scutes by using the brush is what doesn’t make sense. Shedded scutes are presumably worn and damaged and generally probably not the best quality, so why use that to protect your dog with?

I think that should only happen when below 3 hearts or something, so they still can die if killed by a lot of damage at once, say a creeper explosion for example. Also it should be a high damage resistance, like shulkers, NOT complete invincibility. That is awkward and NOT fit for minecraft in any way... (and then mojang proceeded to make the allay invincible)
@@aceplante if you want to go through with making armor for your dog you probably don't want it to die right? It would also be a very clever way of resource management because if you don't have enough food you may not have enough time to save it so there is still plenty of risk.

One thing they seem to be trying to make clear is that this is an early test version of the armadillo and its features. They are looking for feedback for how it should be changed and improved.
Alright, so I'm not going to complain just yet because wolf armor isn't out at this point in time, however, I really hope that by the time it releases, we'll be able to either dye or trim it. Could also be a good time to finally add netherite horse armor and make it so that we can trim horse armor. That would be nice, but it's probably too much to ask for, so I'll be happy enough if we can just dye or trim wolf armor, but that won't mean I'll forget about the horses
This is awesome, this is pretty much what I wanted. Just kinda weird it doesn’t also apply to cats and foxes…
Foxes aren't pets and cats don't fight. Dogs can attack things for you, so they're the only ones that would really need it.
I want goat armor, no mobs attack them, and they headbutt what ever they want.
and walk on lava. I was hoping that the armor would be expanded to just better pets that you can trust not to just randomly get lost or die in a few days (and no friendly fire) and ability to untame instead of kill or keep

@@Heavenly_Yuhng_Knoh Well Horses are used to ride around and I'm pretty sure you can attack from them as well so they still benefit from armor.
Thanks for the update! Always great to get news of a new feature...
Quick question: How is the armadillo "neutral" if it doesn't attack back? That's literially passive.
It’s kind of weird that the experimental features are only available on the old world edit screen. I wish they were available on the new one, because as it is right now, do you have to make a copy of the world in order to add the experimental features on.
Well, it looks like that’s exactly what they did. Yay.
Unironicallly: Glad to see someone being positive about armadillos.
But I'm just sitting on the opposite site of the table for that topic. I can't phrase it more positive than that.
Therefore, thanks for the show case. It saves me the time to figure out that I won't need bother with them.
Every single dog I ever had was either blown up by a creeper (which the armor wouldnt help with) or they liked to participate in hot tub challenges without my consent - So I stopped using dogs in MC entirely and the armor won't change that it seems.
in the Minecraft monthly video it shows that a dog with armor can take a point blank creeper blast
here we go again, the devs adding features that are at best rarely used and at worst useless to maybe fix them later.
im sorry but without any pathtracing for wolves or a friendly fire option, theyre still going to be dying in dumb ways. the reason why yiur wolves die is not because of mobs, its because they already lost all health because they fell and took damage or got in the way of your attacks.
then theres the armadillo, because of course the item that poisons you is the same one used to feed them, because fireflies were "too dangerous" aparently. and yes i know that they spiders irl, just not that only at the eyes, geez ehat a selective acid they have...
and what do they do again? oh yeah, they look cute and die to give whats basically nothing.
they should give us more armor variation than what we have, whatabout their scutes being usable to make an armor as strong as leather but blast resistent?
rabbit skin, turtle scales, and now armadillo scutes makes me sad, because we couldve had more use with them, but no. we have to wait pontentially years for an update to add a use to them like they did with bamboo.

I was hoping that the armor would be expanded to just better pets that you can trust not to just randomly get lost or die in a few days (and no friendly fire) and ability to untame instead of kill or keep
Reading through these comments, do people really expect the armadillo & wolf armor to be fully fleshed-out features at this point? The armadillo & wolf armor concept was introduced in October. If I understand how the mob vote works, Mojang hadn't really developed anything at that point beyond the basic concept. Now, two months later, we're getting our first look at something that probably won't be "finished" until about a month before the next major update releases 5-6 months from now.
Why are some people so quick to complain about something that isn't even done being developed yet?
Mob vote winners are never fleshed out. Remember when the Sniffer was supposed to have three flowers? Not to mention the sniffer's flowers never got a use

I really hope it becomes dyeable so that IBXToyMaps can make a map where we collect all colours of wolf armour
Dog armor could have been easily implemented as leather (for dying) and chain (for higher defense) and didnt need to be tied to a mob vote.
Can it hunt spiders
now after they made wolf armor, they really should think about buffing wolves. wolves seem like they could be so useful, but you hardly ever see anybody use them because theyre just not that useful. i think they should make them do more damage, and try to make it so theyre useful even when you have already beat the game and have like full netherite. maybe make them useful for like the dragon fight so they can kill any endermen you accidentally look at, and in the process make the dragon fight harder and endermen more aggressive in the end.
they should make them be able to hold weapons/things in their mouths like foxes can to do more damage
I think once they come back from break one of first things they'll work on is enchantments for the wolf armor to make it less of a pointless feature. Yes, an army of wolves with 40% resistance would actually be kind of tough to take out if you didn't have sweeping edge, but there's room here to be able to throw on things like fire resistance and increased knock back. If you could actually sort of customize your wolves to be incredibly tough to kill with conventional methods it would make them a possible stable of PVP.
Though if they went that far they may need to 'nerf' the concept and start working on implementing a full on battle pet system into the game where you get to pick one that can get special bonuses. Nothing like what cobble mon does but it certainly wouldn't be out of the question for a parrot to give hostile entities glow or for a wolf to be able to apply slow with a howl. The trade off would be off course any and all more powerful pet features would end up locked behind it so wolf armor ends up being as tough as more normal wolves get.
I got an idea. Make it so that when the armadillo is curled up into a ball it is invulnerable to damage, and carry that functions over to the wolf as well. We will probably see more variants of wolf armor in a future update.
You know that's not true
We are talking about Mojang. Company that has to work for a year to add one mob (whille moders add entire new dimensions in 3-4 days and they are basically dev quality and non bugy and stable)
Very unlikely. They never expand on mob vote winners. Remember when Sniffers were supposed to get a third flower?
@@racingraptor4758 mods are very buggy. But you still make a good point. Mojang could defiintely speed up their development process by a lot.
Dog armor could have been easily implemented as leather (for dying) and chain (for higher defense) and didnt need to be tied to a mob vote. But since they chose to do just that, and it is now tied to this weird item only obtained from a rare mob, it doesnt seem likely they will add more variants.
Gonna have to make a new Roleplay World where I use a massive armadillo farm to armor my Dog Army and use the Dog Army to murder everything before I even look at it.

Armadillo model is quite the chunky boi! That thing is huge
Alright, now they need to allow people to enchant Horse and Wolf armor. With the right series of enchantments, both the Horse and Wolf can become significantly more valuable to use. You could have stuff like speed, featherfall, fire resist, and the array of protection options. Horse armor specifically could have frost walker and Wolves could have damage enchants.

I hope this makes dogs more practical. Honestly starting to think I should have voted for the penguin or crab
I doubt it. I’d love for Mojang to give the scute a secondary use that players who don’t use dogs might have a purpose for.
The mob vote overall would be less divisive if mobs the up for a vote had two diverse mechanics so that a larger portion of players gets something out of which ever mob wins
@dontgivetwothwips3615 that's actually a good idea. I loved the concept of the sniffer but in game it sucks. I hope they add some more uses for it. One idea I heard is it digs up a flower with a new dye color. But yeah, more than one use for the mobs would be good because right now they are all just based on gimmicks
I've literally never used dogs for combat in my entire 10+ years of playing, and I still don't think I will after this update.
Honestly, this was just a wasted mob vote imo, players let their love of dogs get in the way of logical thinking, so instead of voting for something that would actually benefit the majority of players like the extended placement range, they just voted for something that only benefits the small minority or players who actually use wolves as weapons instead of just their pets.
@@dontgivetwothwips3615 Or better yet just add all of them and flesh them out
@@dontgivetwothwips3615 The thing is they already had an entire preexisting animal that dropped scutes, being turtles. There was no reason to have another mob that drops a nearly identical item

In a nutshell, wolf armor should be able to be enchanted with the different protection enchants (ex fire prot) and be harder to get so its balanced and useful
-1 In the current state the wolf armor does basically nothing and its kinda useless, but its also very easy to get in big quantities because of how it was made.
My proposed solution to that is allowing it to be enchanted with the different kinds of protection, this would justify having more than 1 wolf armor piece and also give a good use to the fire protection and blast protection enchants that arent very useful in the current state, full prot 4 in a player gives 60% dmg reduction if i am not mistaken, i think the wolf armor with protection should be the same as a full set of the enchant, (Also possibly feather falling) to make wolves viable in combat and also exploring, this also opens possibility for new enchants omly for wolf armor, maybe an enchant that heals the wolf or the player every time it hits smth that is only obtainable in a structure(ex trail ruins, giving a new use for trail ruins) the wolf armor shouldnt be renewable
-2 And i think it should have durability, to make it balanced with the above suggestions, it should be hard to get but not too much, or else it wont be very used, like turtle helm. I suggest the dillo should curl up whenever you are close and you can only brush it once every mc day when its not curled, so youd have to use an invisibility pot to not startle it
Dude, I can't wait for it to come out! i think you were the first one to upload a video about this. thank you! or I wouldn't even know if this existed.
Definitely not the first lol
In my opinion, now is the PERFECT time to do the savannah and desert updates.
Facts
Is the map you're playing on at start the very old tutorial world ?
It remind me of something very old and still fresh in my memory so strange
Removing hunger or health bar can be very useful in map making
netherite wolf armor when
Also, wolf armor with a bundle on it? Could be used to hold bones/dog food
(which could also potentially enable autoheal using the noms in the bag when out of combat and no hostile mobs within 64 blocks for say 30 seconds?)
The wolf armor looks very dyeable
Unfortunately, probably not.
Dog armor could have been easily implemented as leather (for dying) and chain (for higher defense) and didnt need to be tied to a mob vote.
But no, they chose to add a whole new mob, that drops one item, that crafts one item, that has one use.
It would be good if an armadillo stayed as a ball which you can knock around. You can make mini games like football or golf
The old console tutorial world in the background brought back so many memories lol
i really hope you can dye it or put trims on it, and enchant it too.
Sorry ibx, the armadillo was a much cooler choice than the crab or penguin, and I’m glad those mobs were not chosen over some vague and arbitrary feature tied to them. Plus savannah and mesas need some unique life.
Literally anything would have been better than this boring, uncreative, useless mob. Mojang strikes again
Eat it, Poindexter. Armadillos rule. 😂@@optichillo3221
They need derpyer eyes
This is why I voted against the armadillo
Armor or no armor most dogs will just stay sat down in our bases like usual. The armadillo mob vote is the biggest disappointment since the phantom got voted in.
At least the phantom is relevant to gameplay and has a cool design
@@EmperorPenguin1217 yeah that is true
They should allow the dog armor to be resistant to arrows and maybe change it to even more hit points
Can’t wait for people who didn’t vote for crab claw to see what a waste dog armor is
Dog armor has been confirmed to be as strong as Diamond without even needing enchants yet.
Honestly I don't understand why you would vote for the crab. Lol just walk forward one block.
@@mee091000 its more for building bases faster for me. Like getting to build 4-5 blocks high instead of 3. In creative especially it would be so helpful
@@slauderek3195 No it wouldn't be lol. ACTUAL Minecraft builders have already pointed out how much worse it would actually make building. Because if you misplace one block. You will spend more fixing it than if you just jumped up. It only placed blocks not destroyed them.
I already like this video more than the Xiumavoid (sorry if i butchered that) video because it covers more than just the armadillo.
He made it clear that bedrock isn’t his forte so he’ll go more in depth next week with Java
I did the math, the protection of Wolf Armor is equivalent to that of an unenchanted Diamond Helmet and Chestplate on a player. Really sad.
potion of the armadillo master
So if my armored dog dies to a creeper I’ll blame Toycat.
Why did they move the eyes on the armadillo?
i will spawn that thing over lava over and over again, crab should have won
What do you mean "wolf armour may only be equipped onto a wolf by whom it was tamed"? I didn't know that wolves could tame wolf armour, that feature goes kinda crazy.
How is it neutral if it can't be aggro'd?
