What is the political reason for sabotaging the bridge? Sure looks like that ship deliberately turned into the bridge.
There are surely *economic* reasons, too. That fallen bridge *blocks* - prevents use of - a very important trade route, having a major impact on the flow of goods. Remember in 2021 how the Suez Canal was blocked for six days by the Ever Given container ship? If one does a deep dive into the details leading up to and surrounding that event, it's also easy to see how weird that was, too. Then the phrase "supply chain issues" started being used very frequently.

Being confined on that ship is not the issue as seafarers are quite use to that. I know this because I am a retired able bodied seaman. None of this makes any sense but one thing I know for sure is if a ship loses power it will not turn on its own. There are backup systems in place and backup systems for the backup systems. Someone in the bridge of that ship is responsible. The captain, the pilot, the mate or the wheelsman?????
Emergency diesel generator should restore limited power within 25 seconds. They dropped a anchor and were trying to back down when they hit. The Captain gets my vote for who is responsible. Side note, wtf is a black box doing on a ship? I never heard of one. I retired many years ago so it could be that it was added.
As far as I know due to the lack of pilots its pretty standard for PoB pilots to hop off and get to the next job as soon as the ship is in the main channel and it's a straight shot out. As far as the captain being responsible, well that is always the case.

I live in Baltimore and us citizens called BS right away. It was no accident. That bridge had to come down because it was too low for this one mega cargo ship, and the very large carnival cruise ships.

I think the family members and coworkers of the deceased would be able provide info that could confirm or deny.

Maritime Law says that if the crew leaves a vessel, it can be considered abandoned and anyone else can claim it. I had been thinking that their employers told them not to abandon the ship. Now thee Redacted is saying that the crew is under FBI criminal investigation. Lets remember that the bridge crash may have been an international crime
a few engineers would have to stay providing power but not the crew, the ship would not be considered abandoned, my guess .
