  • Some oboe players think that you simply need to finger the right notes in the THIRD OCTAVE. All you need is the fingerings.

It's my pleasure! I'm taking requests. What are your current challenges on the oboe?

    Tips begin at 3:50.
Did anyone ever tell you that you sound just like Diane Keaton? I think you do. 🙂

    Oboist, recording engineer, guitarist.
The acoustics in that room could be improved for your presentation. I've been playing oboe since 1965, guitar since 1975.
The oboe can have a harsh sound in a bathroom, or thin and harsh outdoors. A small 90 degree walled small room is not complimentary either. I hope you can take my opinion as constructive. I mean well.

I couldn’t agree more! I record these presentations in my home studio. I’ve created my home studio to be a slightly deader acoustic than the concert hall where I play. My idea is that if I can make the reed sound good in this space- it will sound great in the hall. It does sound better in person than on the recordings.
I’ve actually been thinking of sourcing a better microphone to do these presentations. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for reaching out.
