I think this channel has almost cult type followers, it doesn't matter if Bertram doesn't post for a year, people wait eagerly and even after a video they come back instantly. Incredible!
@@Kira-zy2ro yes, l do the same, but what l meant was, usually if a channel doesn't post regularly, people tend to unsubscribe and the channel lost the momentum. It isn't happening here at all.
Dude, I been playing a lot of Valheim and thinking about your videos. I thought you quit making videos. You haven't popped up in my recommended forever. Good to see you still out there living the dream.
This might be the only channel I still follow after such a long period of inactivity, because every video is peaceful and enjoyable. Easily one of my favorite channels.
Hey Betram, so good to see you again!! You inspired me years ago when I watched you. I got a tepee tent, stove and a reindeer hide. Thanks for all your skills. 👍👍
Nice surprise Rune👍👍good to see you post again. Bushcraft blacksmithing in the wild..perfect. Super setup in the lavvu, forge and shelter heater/stove in one😉 Master craftsman at work, beautiful small axe. I have the Grandfors Bruk Small Forest and Outdoor axes, wonderful examples. Great video, well done and presented as always, thanks for the work. See you soon hopefully, enjoy!
Hadn't checked the channel for new uploads in some time... and here's one to feast on, less than a day ago. Warms the heart to see our silent adventurer still at it.
Hello great to see you again, before you shaped it I knew it was an axe head. Great work with the steal and wood. You even went out and used it, I know it will be a long while before I see you again. Japan 😊
Always a treat to watch your videos. Water can be quite savage to quench in. Salt water (brine) is a little easier on the steel, or peanut oil is even safer. Lovely job on that axe, and respect for approaching it with hand tools. I think the hardest part of forging axes for most people is making (or sourcing) the drifts.
I've watched a lot of "Bushcrafter" here on UA-cam... but no one acts as well as you and I watch every minute of your film... because everything you do is very interesting... just like in the Middle Ages ❤
Bertram, thank you for your videos they are incredibly relaxing. Its nice to feel connected to nature its only achieved through your thoughtful methods. All the best on your path.
Thx for another great video! I've been watching for years, and have enjoyed your tool making and camping. Nice camera work, too. You must have to walk extra miles to get those long hiking shots. Your shows are relaxing, like ASMR.
Would like to have seen how you drew out the ears of the axe head. You did a very clean job of it and formed it very well. Splendid tool. You are quite skilled and thank you for the video.
Thank you. Yes - that part of the forging isn't shown well in the video. Sorry about that. Next time will I make sure to show it better. My preferred method for forging the ears/lugs on an axe is to start with a extra tall billet/piece of steel. I used the same method in the video. The extra height means that I only need to draw out the ears/lugs 50% of the way, the other 50% can I get by reducing the rest of the billets height. In the video at 01:40 can you see me drifting the axe and using the corner of the hammer to draw out the ears/lugs to about 50%.... The next clip at 02:12 shows me reducing the height of the rest of the axe to gain the other 50% height on the ears/lugs.... There is about 4 heats between the two clips and that is my mistake to skip a bit to much of the forging proces. Totally understandable that part of the video was unclear. If my description of the method is unclear, can I recommend to watch Brent Bailey's 4 part series on making a rounding hammer. He talks about the method and shows it in practice. Here is link to part 1: ua-cam.com/video/vi1yf12W_rA/v-deo.html Thank you for you're comment and all the best See you out there... Rune Malte Bertram-Nielsen

God job Bertram..youre axe is pretty and perfect for trips. I made some knife and leather steath combined with wood, my favourite is finnland type of blade , or some blades from Helle..curly birch, exot.woods or plum, cherry tree ..Like gift from friends.. Nice to see you.. GL and HF
