Ahh Windsor Arena. If the game was boring you could watch the squirrels running up and down the roof beams. It still stands empty and decaying. Never forget the Windsor-London rivalry complete with bench clearing brawls and London trainer Don Brankley trying to put a hex on our goalie. Waterboy Waterboy! Great video!
Windsor Arena had a listed capacity of 4400. But to cram 4400 in the building you hoped the people beside you wore deodorant because you got up close and personal with your fellow fans.
What about the Sarnia Arena where the sarnia sting played out of. That arena has a lot of history from having the sarnia Bees jr.b team played and still has jr b hockey playing out of it
How the heck was the London Knights old arena “London Gardens” not mentioned?! That was a well respected arena & not only for hockey but a lot of historic concerts as well such as the famous “Johnny Cash” show at London Gardens where Johnny Cash proposed to June Carter on stage & she finally said yes lol. It also held “WWF” wrestling matches as well, but it was a very cool arena to watch the knights & Jr.B London Nationals.
The AHL version of the Yardmen Arena still has no seating in the end zones. The extra seating was acquired by the shrinkage of the ice surface to regulation
aw man... disappointement, no Soo Memorial Gardens... In 1993 during the memorial cup they quite literally had people hanging off the rafters. gotta update this bud
Missed mentioning the Kingston Canadians during the 1970s and 80s, followed by one year as the Raiders, before they were renamed the Frontenacs. They are part of the OHL history too.
Photos in this video are taken from ohlarenaguide.com. For more photos of classic OHL and CHL arenas check out their website!
I can remember skating at that Windsor arena many times as a kid. It was more like a 4000 seat arena though. Very old and dark.

Only guessing, but probably because it was such a short time. A shame though, it's an amazing place to watch a game

Not true, they opened up the one end as well for seats. Seating now on 3 sides with a balcony on the 4th.
You are not thorough buddy. The Sault Memorial Gardens was Northern Ontario's ice palace.

Right!! Had high hopes for this vid but not very thorough.
Anyone notice there was 3 benches in the Kingston memorial centre?
Team benches were on opposite sides of the rink and the 3rd one was the penalty box. It was just a bench separated by the time keeper.
Love the kingston mem centre, tuesday and thursday beer league at 10:30 or 11:30 PM now home to the Queen's Gaels the best partiers in the OUA

Just like the souls of Knights fans. Go Rangers!
Sad, just like that NHL arena you built for that junior team. Lamer than AIDS.
Did you go to Glamour Shots for that photo? Fancy.. Go Rangers!
The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium should stay until we officially become India.
