But what if I want all my other pages to be completely different? So if I click on item1 within my recyclerview, it takes me to a new activity/fragment where I have for example a list of courses. And when I click on item2 on the main page's recycleview, then it takes me to another page with a very different layout and stuff. Is there an easy way to do it?
This won't tough to implement. In this particular case it is better to use any database where there will be relations between your "subject" and "courses". You are gonna have 2 different activities/fragments containing different recycleviews. For example when a user click on any item of "subject" recyclerview the recyclerview in the "courses" activity/fragment will appear depending upon the already existent relation between Subject and Courses. You will just reuse that "course" recyclerview. ---- Let me know if it helps you.

I think that solution is good for java, in Kotlin You can pass function from activity, so there is no need to use interface.
