Coming back from listening Black Lungs after some people said “I’ve never listened Sam vocals as clean as those!” Well, here you go, people. This song is the one that got me into Architects 9 years ago, so I’m just thankful that this album exists.
For me it's probably like this - First place - Nightmares, Ruin, Hollow crown, Daybreaker, Lost forever Second place - The here and now and All gods have abandoned us. And I don't mean by that that those albums are somehow worse,, just not my all time favourites.
Everything they make is gold. Doesn't please every one, especially when they focus more on clean vocals, but I appreciate their willingness to try new things every few albums instead of just being straight up heavy ALL the time.
People who say this have listened to this album, its not about them being 'soft' but more the fact that they are sounding incredibly watered down and 'industry standard' today. This wasn't even considered pop back then, and a lot of the writing and music that was much more authentic died with Tom in my opinion.
Its weird because I really enjoyed this album, I feel that this is the release that prevented them from sticking to the same genre and dying. Even if the band itself trash this record, I love it, like I love every other release ! They keep impressing me every step they make
Both the old and new stuff from architects is phenomenal. One of the most exciting British artists. All their albums are good. my favourite being lost together.
Is it strange that this album actually got me into Architects? Love all their other stuff now. But this showed me their musical diversity. Fuckin love 'em.

I actually think 'The Here And Now' was a great album. Sure it wasn't as heavy or technical as the other ones but it's still really good music and at the end of the day that's more important than what genre it's defined as. I did think that the slow ballads like An Open Letter and Heartburn were a step too far though, I mean they're just not that kind of band.
I don't know why but when they released the album I didn't enjoy it much. but now I can listen to it all day and has to be my favorite albums by them at the moment.
I admire Architects' honesty about The Here and Now. It was a mistake, in that they were very good at writing their dark, technical stuff, particularly on Ruin and Hollow Crown, and they were just average-above average as a post hardcore band. Daybreaker was a step in the right direction and they showed flashes of their magic in songs like These Colours Don't Run and Outsider Heart but they were still refinding their feet as a band, and with the mature, stripped back, but still heavy and unique, Lost Forever Lost Together it feels like they're finally back in their stride as artists. Ruin will always be my favourite album by them though.
+Chris White If you consider The Here and Now a "mistake", you are not respecting them. They can admit this might not be their best album, which may be the reason they ended up changing their style again after this album, but when you are an artist, you can't regret nor reject your own work. The actual style of Architects, which is similar to the previous one of this album, is the confort style of them right now, as the evolution has been positive the last years, but it's been more static. The Here and Now represent for me a clear courage step out of the confort zone that many artists can't and don't want to take, and end up being wasted musically. And honestly, for me this album is a top one. After years of listening it and I still think it's pretty unique.
+Mik How can an artist have standards if they don't regret/reject anything they produce? It's important, not just in art but in life, to be able to look at a bad decision you've made and say "OK that wasn't the right thing to do, but I'm gonna learn from it and improve for the future.", which I think Architects have done since The Here and Now came out.
+Chris White Yes, but for doing that, you have to accept and respect your decisions in the past, because you made them for a reason, there was a logic behind that, no matter if it was the right or not. They loved the record the day they recorded and composed it and that is what matters the most. Also, I think they got influenced by the criticism around this record of old fans and maybe the media. Which is good, I mean, you have to know the opinion of the people, but one thing is move forward towards another style, and another thing is saying this was like a car crash. How can people respect and love your creation if even you can't do it yourself? Idk, that's how I see it.
Their post hardcore stuff is still decent, but it's in no way comparable to the sheer brilliance and beauty in "Lost Forever//Lost Together" and "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us". That said- They hit, in my opinion, perfection with "These Colours Don't Run". In no stretch of the imagination, that song is one of the greatest and perhaps important metal songs of the new generation.
Something few people understand about bands. It's not a 1 way street for the fans listening enjoyment, it is also about the enjoyment of the musicians, too. Architects are the DEFINITION of art. Variety, talent, consistency, and the list goes on! What more could you ask for? Besides, in order for a band to make it, you have to do something to evolve constantly and expand your demographics! If I play obscure jazz, well that's a small fanbase, so I need to grow it to continue on w/ music,no?
+EyeIgnite I know, I know haha. Can't compare this to anything they have done lately Daybreaker was awesome and then their latest album even better. The lyrics, music, feels everything was great, imo. But yeah I still listen to the previous ones as well
+Atahan “Atlas” Antarct New album is dope but goes hard for basically the whole album. If Architects could do it all over I wish they would have split this album up and sprinkled these songs throughout their newer albums to add more variety.
+Zach Engel That seems like a good idea. Though, then some narrow minded people would mention THAT one song everywhere everytime they can. Like "this song doesnt fit the album at all" etc. But we gotta live with those kind of reactions I suppose
songs from the new album were pretty intense live actually, architects are truly talented and it feels way better to listen to a dedicated album like that than a forced br00tal breakdown-in-every-song album. They are still unique and bloody awesome.

the sure thing is that architects was a different band back then .less heavy less breakdowns worst production etc they wasnt bad but after daybreaker and mostly with lost forever became a huge band in every aspect.they went in a completely different level.thats why i think their last two albums are the best by far
I got into Architects from listening to 'All Our God's Have Abandoned Us' but, I started listening to their previous album's recently. I got to admit that from 'Daybreaker' the route they chose was fantastic but i'm still in for supporting their previous albums which got them the experience & produce what they do now. Fantastic band overall, I can easily see this band being my favourite.
this album is amazing, I like it when he sings. I like it when he screams. I like it when they feel things like i do. All their albums are amazing. Suck it haters.
I just came across this on Spotify and my first thought was "This has roots". Come to YT and find out its at least 12 years old. Massive early 2000 vibe. Fucking love it... your last 5 years is completely different and yet as equally amazing. Holy shit. RIP the original band member. Can feel that musical love and connection in this song. Can't believe this took me 12+ years to find. What an experience.
Architects themselves rip on "The Here and Now" all the time. They publicly and openly admit it was a really bad time in their musical careers. A lot of excess drinking and unfortunately neglecting the music. Personally, there are a few songs on the album that I thought were really chill. But overall, I MUCH better enjoy their last two albums. Both were really really solid and I'm looking forward to hearing what they still have left in 'em.
+Mehbobo Torp this is not a bad album! if anything this album did not make much sense considering how heavy and solid hollow crown was. I think daybreaker would have been the ideal follow up. I think this album is one that maybe should have come later on.
+TheExisting 1 It may have been substance consumption as well, I'm just speaking based on what I heard the band say in interviews. They mentioned excess drinking and partying, but I wouldn't be surprised if that also includes substance abuse...

This is an Architects video, but still I felt like speaking
If you can't tell that this is the same band that does "Broken Cross" and "These Colours Don't Run" just by hearing them, then idk how you can say you are listening to music.

known them since their first album and i cant say i like this enough to listen to it...
If you can't tell that this is the same band that does "Broken Cross" and "These Colours Don't Run" just by hearing them, then idk how you can say you are listening to music.
Can remember first seeing them live on May 4th 2011, they were amazing.
It's hard to imagine this is sam😂
I really love Architects for messages they have in their music. I love their songs. I would really want to go someday on concert. :)
