Get a nose cone for the trailer and full side skirts and if you can find a trailer tail, stemco use to make them idk about now. Literally my first video I’ve seen of yours but anyways get eco flaps for your truck and trailer also move the license plate out of the air stream of the trailer hope some of that helps, ohh and also get rid of anything that catches wind ie antenna, stacks etc although I know it would look weird without stacks. There was a guy I I use to follow that had a classic hood freightliner who was able to get 10 mph with a cat motor I believe, not sure what type of gears he had or anything but he also travelled at 57 mph all the time

A lot of that are things I'm going to do. I know a lot of the drag is caused by the trailer. I won't remove the stacks but I do have an idea to remove/relocate the air breathers

You need to find some 325 rear gears. Or if you really want to get radical. Some 308 rear gears. If you aren't hauling 45 or 50 thousand pounds. Your Caterpillar will pull just fine. If anything. You can drop a few gears and drive in direct gear. Keep your rpms down.

I'd love to get 325 or 336 someday. But it's not cheap. So for now gotta work with what I have

Looking forward to this series. I'm contemplating getting a 379 and I hate the fact that the government is now dictating what trucks an owner has to buy! I understand why owners do it, after all they need to make a living and take care of their families but I still don't like it!

I would have liked to see them improve the design of these trucks rather than make new ones meant to be thrown away. But no money in it for them

I bet a roof cap like on some of the T-660s would make a big difference. It’d probably be pricey since you’d have to have it painted so it’d look good but i bet you’d get the biggest mpg gain of anything else you could do from that.

Yes sir that is one of the things I'm going to work on. Either one from a t660 or I might make my own

Yeah they do. They can rent one for you or you can bring your own. Because you find your own loads.

Do you suppose side skirts off of a T600 would fit on a W900? 🤔

Amazon installs those half-skirts by default. Looks stupid and probably doesn't save a lick of fuel.

48 ft flatbed trailer or step deck give you more fuel mileage

Sir change your driving it’s all about boost , idle, the worst is being in hurry for deadlines. Boost gauge. C-15 7.6 mpg

It's a lot about those things, but not all. I drive her pretty conservative

Idle as little as possible. When going up hill let her loose a little speed. Keep boost 10 or lower as much as possible. Sometimes you have to get into 20 but to a minimum. It makes a difference. I pull 80 thousand always but .. I’m in the south

"half a skirt is better than no skirt" good lot lizard motto! my friend, you do not buy a w9 and try to make it more aerodynamic. you should have got a t600 in that case. beauty = pain to the wallet in this case. hood trucks are not aerodynamic

    • @DrivetoProvide

I know, but there's a lot of little things you can do to get improvements that can save a lot of money per year
