On a list of aid given compared to GDP, out of 41 countries that have sent aid US comes 30th on the list, they have sent 0.3%. Based on population Germany send more at 251 euros per person compared to US 215 and UK 197, so all countries are basically giving the same. It's pretty obvious to the sensible that a bigger country will send more than a smaller one.

Even my country, Australia, which is non-Nato and on the other side of the world, has sent millions + over 100 Bushmasters and other military items. I'm totally against war, but in this case I very much support our assistance. I've made personal donations, too, specifically towards buying military equipment for soldiers, like helmets, vests and night-vision goggles. Ukraine has my admiration and never ceases to amaze.

US defense budget in '23 was $782 billion. Aid sent to Ukraine $75 billion as of December '23 or just under 10% of the defense budget. War sucks but I would argue that money has been well spent. Increase the aid!
Us alone sent 200b to ukraine. If accounting for other foreign aid ukraine received, then it would be 450b. Us defense budget is roughly 800-900b this is roughly half of the us military budget

This reporting is slightly off. The US doesn’t send money to Ukraine. We send arms and ammunition. That has a net value. There’s always money involved in this game. Our representatives (congress) that have military contracts within the states, red or blue, create jobs for what we give to Ukraine and other countries. Therefor, adding more jobs and add economic value. That’s why we see some of representatives totally for it. Again, this is just as much about making money as it is giving foreign aid. Let that sink in.

US keep complaining about how much money they send to Ukraine and how others don't. On a list of aid given compared to GDP, out of 41 countries that have sent aid US comes 30th on the list, they have sent 0.3%. Based on population Germany send more at 251 euros per person compared to US 215 and UK 197, so all countries are basically giving the same. It's pretty obvious to the sensible that a bigger country will send more than a smaller one.
These are facts and have no business in a discussion with Republicans. You can also add that our aid has severely reduced Russia's armed forces with the loss of 0 American Soldiers but that would be pointless because Hunter.
Even my country, Australia, which is non-Nato and on the other side of the world, has sent millions + over 100 Bushmasters and other military items. I'm totally against war, but in this case I very much support our assistance. I've made personal donations, too, specifically towards buying military equipment for soldiers, like helmets, vests and night-vision goggles. Ukraine has my admiration and never ceases to amaze.

US defense budget in '23 was $782 billion. Aid sent to Ukraine $75 billion as of December '23 or just under 10% of the defense budget. War sucks but I would argue that money has been well spent. Increase the aid!
Us alone sent 200b to ukraine. If accounting for other foreign aid ukraine received, then it would be 450b. Us defense budget is roughly 800-900b this is roughly half of the us military budget
Not only that, but the money spent on aid to Ukraine has done orders of magnitude more to directly counter Russian expansion than if we spent it here to update the US arsenal.
We finally get an ally who is willing to fight to the death for real (not imaginary made up) freedom, and Republicans walk away from them, saying "this is not our war, it's just a border dispute...". That's predictable, it's what WW2 was called by the isolationists (who were mostly, but not all Republicans) in the USA before Pearl Harbor, ie "the border wars in Europe". If Trump is re elected this is what will happen: He'll pull the US out of NATO which will sink Ukraine, or possibly trigger a wider European war, give Xi the green light to invade Taiwan and wink at the North Koreans, who will invade the South. Trump won't care, he will be totally preoccupied starting a border war of his own, going after cartels in Mexico, which will trigger a US vs Mexico war. There’s always money involved in this game. Our representatives (congress) that have military contracts within the states, red or blue, create jobs for what we give to Ukraine and other countries. Therefor, adding more jobs and add economic value. That’s why we see some of representatives totally for it. Again, this is just as much about making money as it is giving foreign aid. Let that sink in.
