I’m sure you know this, but maybe others don’t but make sure you blow off the roof after drilling, those shavings will leave rust marks! Don’t ask me how I know !
Thanks Richard, I never would have thought of that until…….thank you for commenting, sometimes some of us just don’t have all the experiences the world has to offer.
After dealing with hurricane Idalia here in Florida and many days without power, I'm all for backups for my backups. Smart choice adding the generator backup.
Noticed you removed the ground wire that was over on top of the upper railing to below the rail once you started installing the panels.. ( @ 7:08 ) can't say we aren't watch your every move lol.. Great job.
Great job. You need to install the Iron Ridge stopper sleeve around you bolts on the end of your rails. Without them you put uneven load on your panel. 😊
Good eye! The stopper sleeves are based on the panel frame thickness and clip around the UFO fastener to keep it level and secure on the side that doesn’t have a panel.
Another great job, Evan! When you total the cost, could you also provide an estimate of how much time you spent on installation? That might be helpful for those of us who aren’t handy and would need to pay for installation.
Evan, I don't believe there are a lot of people with the knowledge and experoernce that you have when dealing with electrical matters and ypu have done a great job of all of the installtion of the solar equipment and I am amazed at all that you have done and it looks really good.
Thank u great job. Could you do like a map of the work you did and the battery size, solar panels etc or video of the whole job when u do the estimate. Will be looking for that one
New viewer and been watching all your cabin build videos and what ever else pops up. A big thanks to Pete from Just A Few Acres for mentioning you. Great videos !
Congratulations Evan. I really enjoy your videos and the various jobs and projects you have at your farm. Wishing you continued success and many more videos in your future.
Just as I expected…near perfect in every way! Great job Evan and it was great to see your capable assistant by your side! So cool to see how self sufficient your homestead has become. If SHTF I’m coming to your place! Thanks for sharing!
SHTF? Yes, very soon, trust me. This takes up from 5 to 6 years. God will select high moral level people for the new era. There will be about 10% of population survived!
The best solar installation I have seen. Allowing for all contingencies is the way to go. Congratulations. I can't stop thinking about your pond. So I spoke with a friend who owns a wetlands restoration company. It could be that your best bet is a fountain type aerator. You could always turn it off when you're using the pond and it bothers you. 👍
Great job! what your thinking about solar street lighting on your outside of your bank barn and any of the other barns instead using electrical lighting. They have some new type that are real bright and smart.
I like that you give a thorough explanation of what you do and why. Nice system and demonstration of how it work and the gain from it. Thanks Evan, I hope you have a great day.
Appreciate your time sharing the solar setup. Looking forward to seeing your review of cost and labor. Blessings and prayers for you and your family's health, strength, safety and success in Our Redeemer's Awesome Mighty Name. ☝️🙏🙌🇺🇸💪🎯❤️
"....your cloudy days, and your partly cloudy days" (and the inevitable "dust filter" on the panels that you didn't "get around to" washing this week) I always enjoy your content! Y'all are true "go-getters!" (meant as a compliment, fer sure)
Evan, after paying retail for our installation, and now hearing that panels have decreased greatly in price, I am interested in adding more panels. Your video is greatly informative, and super well made. Thanks so much for your work!
Thanks for sharing with us Evan and Rebecca, glad you were able to finish with your solar set up. It looks great. Stay safe and keep up the great work around there and have fun along the way. Fred.
In your upcoming video could you explain the process of selling power back to the utility company and what you had to do for this to happen, thank you and keep up the good work
A true tradesman install, everything is so well thought out and executed. You’re planning for the system and expansions sure paid off! Great job and look forward to the cost breakdown video!
JudithB Looks really great!!! I am slowly checking off my projects but doesnt look like I will be able to pay for some thiings this year. Once I finish all this, plan to work on water storage!! Our normal drought time is from mid July almost to Oct and I have everything to run drip irrigation in the main garden. Little steps!!!
Could you go over the Eaton Double Throw Safety Switch? From what I can tell "UP" is strictly "GRID POWER". "DOWN" is just "SOLAR and BATTERY BACK UP". I'm planning on installing the EP Cube to add to my current array for energy storage. So basically re-routing the output of my current inverter to the A/C in on the smart gateway of the EP Cube and then adding more solar for the DC Side. Thanks!
I gotta say I'm impressed with the progress yall have made in a handful of years. I think people sometimes lose sight of the incremental gains, but damn, you guys are putting together a really nice place. I've got a 14.4 KwH system but I failed in the insulation department and seriously need to revise over the next season or two. Nicely done!
Awesome job Evan. I’m impressed with the knowledge of installation you have. You saved money by doing it yourself. I like you explaining every step of what you are doing and the reason for it. Since you have been on your homestead, it has been more and more improvements that will benefit you and Rebekah for years to come. Your time and hard work will and is paying off. Very good job Evan and thanks for sharing.
That "sealant" appears to be butyl. It is frequently used to seal around windows and other openings in campers and mobile homes and many other uses. You can get it in caulk tubes or in rubbery tape form like that on the back of those brackets, that I'm familiar with. There may be others. It is superior to silicone sealant IMO.
Make sure that the boot you put the conduit thru is coned up so it stops water better. I would've pushed the conduit down then pulled it back up till it coned up. Also I wouldn't worry about being on a truss. If you fasten to the purlins that's good 👍
8:46 Evan, very clean setup. I’ve used Ironridge racking previously and really like it. The S!5 mounts are great too! One bit of advice would be NOT to lift panels from above as you did at the time stamp. The glue between the sheet and the frame can be stressed and be pulled away by lifting from above and suspending the weight of the panel from the frame. Always lift from the bottom edge to help keep panel integrity.
Hi.... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
I’m sure you know this, but maybe others don’t but make sure you blow off the roof after drilling, those shavings will leave rust marks! Don’t ask me how I know !
Good advice.
Congratulations 👍👏👏👏
Thanks Richard, I never would have thought of that until…….thank you for commenting, sometimes some of us just don’t have all the experiences the world has to offer.
Definitely blow them off. I use to install metal roofing years ago.
Great video, thank you for showing your work. I will be doing solar in the future, but I have some buildings to build first.
Great job Evan. I’m very impressed at the quality of work you do.
Ya bagus sekali, hebat banget, dikerjakan sendiri, Tampa bantuan orang lain, sungguh sangat hebat
“A backup for the backup”. Now you’re speaking my language!
Been waiting for this! I too plan to add several thousand more watts of panels to my system to get it where I need it.
“Mounted to the woof” Sorry it’s quite funny how you say roof
After dealing with hurricane Idalia here in Florida and many days without power, I'm all for backups for my backups. Smart choice adding the generator backup.
Home batteries are also a good option considering the noise of the generator.🔋
Hello 👋 great job 👍
Very nice Install Evan.....Looking forward to your tracking and cost analysis
Noticed you removed the ground wire that was over on top of the upper railing to below the rail once you started installing the panels.. ( @ 7:08 ) can't say we aren't watch your every move lol.. Great job.
Learning a lot about solar energy from you Evan. Can’t wait for future videos. 👍
Congratulations. That was a big goal to have accomplished for both of you.
Im amazed and flabbergasted at your ability to just walk all over your roofing without a safety harness or sliding...❤❤❤
This is really nice and neat as well
GREAT job! And well done, to boot. Very impressive installation!
WAHOO!! Great, now on to the D17! 😁😀
The install looks great.
I like how neat you work you care about everything you do looks good!!
It looks good!
Another great job, Evan! When you total the cost, could you also provide an estimate of how much time you spent on installation? That might be helpful for those of us who aren’t handy and would need to pay for installation.
Congratulations Evan!
got my coffee, lets get er done!
😂
I just want a small system for my camper, and im overwhelmed! Kuddos to you for having the knowledge to do an entire home set up.
"Wow, great video! I loved every minute of it and learned so much. Keep up the fantastic work!"

Solar is the way to go! Great work!
Very well done video, you don't seem as tired !
Nice job man. I got vertigo just watching this though.
Thank u great job.

Great to know you have a back up if the power goes off. All the best 🇬🇧.

Mantap sekali bos, saya juga ingin belajar, thanks 🙏🙏🙂

It looks great, and I look forward to the update video.
I am very much looking forward to your honest evaluation of the system.
Looking good. Enjoy watching your videos with my coffee. Thank you.

Good evening guys, good job has always. Steve. G. From Nb Canada
Nice work and with the efficiency of the heat pump and wood fireplace the cold winter outages are well covered.
Great job there Evan

Hello Evan
Congratulations on getting this big job completed and it looks so nice. You really do amazing work. Have a Blessed day.
You can do everything and anything. Wish all men were like that. Your knowledge is impressive.
Lot of hard work Evan. Exceptionally well done.👌
Superb job Evan always a pleasure to watch you work, great channel.
Great job Evan
I like the way you explained every part of the installation- it’s a lot easier and educative.
I hope to master how to install myself..
Nice job done, thx for sharing !
It’s been a long week between videos. Thanks for sharing
Awesome job
If you had a good roof hatch you could use it to up for maintenance and cleaning the panels. Just an idea.
👍
👍👍👍👍👍👌Totally awesome installation and results great job!!!
Evan, after paying retail for our installation, and now hearing that panels have decreased greatly in price, I am interested in adding more panels. Your video is greatly informative, and super well made. Thanks so much for your work!
Great achievement Evan.
Looking forward to the analysis!
Hay Evan nice job on your solar panel installation looks good now you have all the power you need thank you for sharing
Hi Evan...very well done!! Good job....from Rochester NY...
I'm happy to see that you load your own freedom seeds on a blue press.
Nice work guys, glad you got this goal finished. Looking forward to seeing the video of the cost of everything. Thanks for sharing.

Thats freaking awesome. I've put so much time and money into my off grid system but your install looks really good.
You're a prepper without saying you're a prepper. Lol
Awesome job!
Great job.very nice.
It is very impressive, and encouraging, to see how you have built this whole thing by yourself. Very cool stuff!
Living in the UK I actually can't remember the last time I experienced a power cut seems like it's a common thing over the pond

I am not going to install solar. I find it interesting what is involved. Wanted to support your new channel
If the railing is visible from the ground, you could just paint the railings black to match the roof.
Looks great. One thing to factor into long term payback is the shorter typical lifespan of batteries and the inverter...
Evan get you a Propane stove for the house ,you have the tank already!!!

Looks Really Good , Could you paint the rails that stick out with a Black Spray Paint , just Curious
