THIS IS THE BEST VICTORY OF 2004 THIS SEASON Subaru became first winner in RALLY OF JAPAN Petter Solberg/Phil Mills Epic Comeback after alot of retirement Plus,Toshihiro Arai finish in Top 8 to became first Japanese Driver to get points! TWO WORDS FOR THIS RALLY "SUBARU SAIKOU!!!"
I wonder if sometimes Marcus Gronholm still looks out of his window at night and sees that 307 looking at him from outside his front gate? It's sad how unreliable it was, it made a very interesting looking rally car and the coupe styling is probably something we won't see in the WRC again :(
@@ericji4148 he was replaced by Hirvonen, McRae on the other hand lost a drive at citroen to Sainz who was all in all better and scored more points than him in 2003 when they were together. If McRae was as good as everyone beleives he was he would have secured a drive in 2004 no problem
Burns did get to drive Rally Japan, in one of the most realistic rally sims up to date however. Richard Burns Rally has a mod called Richard Burns challenge where they had burns drive and use his ghost, this includes Rally Japan.

Sorry about the quiet commentary audio on these old uploads. These were taken from the transmission tapes for broadcasters, where the English commentary was on a separate track and could be removed and replaced with other languages. Unfortunately, they were not re-mixed when uploading to UA-cam many years ago. We hope you can still enjoy all the drama, interviews and engine noise despite the quiet commentary when watching these classic WRC highlights. @@wrc Thank you for your reply. I dont care much about 2014 onwards sadly :( I Understand that the mixing of these old videos was complicated to do (and essentially for free to us) so i am happy with what we got :) I like to hear the backstories of what happened on the rallies, thats where i come from. Engine sounds are wonderful though :)

Excellent,,,great work Petter Solberg.....
First time for Subaru to win here on home rally
I believe this is the only time Carlos sainz had ever rallied here in Japan
Thats right. After 2004 he retired.
Last good looking Subaru. Really cool it wins in the first ever Japanese rally too!
The blobeye was the ugliest of the three lol
@@strahinjastevic7480 the bugeye is the closest to eye rape I can think, this one is gorgeous

That STI from 2011 was the last good looking Subaru
I miss this so much
Oliver solberg has since become a rally driver himself

This was a great display of Petter & Subaru at their best. Sad that Mcrae & Burns were not in the 04 season..
Burns have agreed to rejoin Subaru for 2004 before his health problems.

François Duval really should have stayed with Ford and not gone to Citroën. Who knows how his career would have turned out.
its a shame the music and background noises are so loud you cant understand what they are saying
