Before he went to Basel and was playing in Italy as a youngster for Roma he was predominantly a left back. Got a massive injury, came back and played at CB. So naturally can play either position.
Who tf told Ade that Calafiori wants to play CB? He’s played more career games at LB mate. And I’m sure his role was discussed in the call woth Arteta, which convinced him to join the club.

Arsenal who had the strongest most dominant defence last season with a worldclass pairing of Gabriel and Saliba in it has now added the long haired , headband wearing current face of Italian football to that back line with Declan Rice playing infront of that. Put Timber ,Jorginho and Thomas Partey in the mix as well that might just be the most star studded defensive roster in world football.

I am talking about those talents or players within a certain age bracket that come to the forefront of people's minds when it comes to modern defenders and defensive excellence. Kante is a big name player. Van Dijk is a big name player. Timber is a marquee big name player. Calafiori is a marquee big name player. Rice is a marquee big name player. Saliba is now a marquee big name player. Jorginho is a Big name in football. Partey was a marquee big name player when we signed him and still one of the most popular in world football when it comes to that role he plays.
I'm talking about the type of players that teams sign that make fans get excited and hyped. The players that get highlighted by the media or are the face of a league or nation. Ake and Dias are not star players they are good players that work great for Pep's system. Infact apart from Rodri Gvardiol and Kyle Walker none of City's defensive players are "Big Names". I agree with Real Madrid however.
