NISMO's Al Buncombe shows Porsche, Aston, Audi, Bentley, Mercedes, Lamborghini, BMW and Jaguar how to be the boss of the first lap of Monza!
In the opening race of 2014 Blanc Pain Endurance series Al climbed 17 places in the opening lap alone. He started the race way down the grid in 32nd out of 44 cars, but ends his second lap in 13th position, leaving the team in a great position.
This on board view catches all the action from Al's point of view and you can see just how crazy the first corner of Monza is!

Other way around, in Forza the CPU controlled drivers or multiplayer drivers would have rammed you. There's no such thing as clean racing in that game, so I always flounder around in the back of the pack unless I start P1 or P2 -- nice to know it's people like you I have to blame for this :P

Looks like a car that should be further up the grid but messed up qualifying. A superior car and excellent driving did this.
Gino Punsalan I agree.This guy does everything perfect while the others are not even on his pace, theres alot of overtakes, but no battles at all. Clean as pie. He foirgot about qualifying???

For the fact that this was a rolling start, and he was able to push his way through the crowd without causing any major damage is pretty damn impressive. I know if this were Australian V8 Supercars, he could've passed more people, because those guys drive rough!!! This is something every great racer wants in the beginning of a race, especially if you were handicapped due to engine issues earlier in the staging process. Passing 18 throughout the 1st lap is an awesome accomplishment, considering when you have Lambo's, Ferrari's, Bentley's, & Porsche's to contend with. Thumbs up over here.

It looks like he's out braking and cornering them. In the straights they seem mostly even except when he's drafting.
Could also have something to do with it being setup to blast out of the blocks than slowly come into a nice setup balance!

The leveling up was not well done that GT-R had too much power the cars need performance revising nevertheless what a drive.

You should have seen the top cars especially the maclaren that finished in pole position. Hint: They were hauling faster than this guy.
Tobi Ogunsanwo You're right Tobi, I saw a little bit of the race later here on youtube. As I said supposedly the rule makers level the cars to the same target delta of performance but clearly they made the McLaren's too fast.
MiniOne82 Mini as I've said in GT championships the cars are often detuned to the same level of output power, aero downforce and they all run rear wheel drive, even the GT-R, there's mad skills of Alex showcased there but the performance of each car will surely be re evaluated by the organization come next round.

Damn GTR fanboys can be dumb sometimes. This is an endurance race. Not everyone has a same strategy. Most of the people went really slow on the first lap to aviod any crashes, as you can see, before 1st corner everyone drives REALLY slowly, while GTR guy doesn't give a shit and just goes on risking several times to wreck in the first lap. He's not the fastest. Going fast in one lap is different than going fast for the entire race. There are cars in this series that can run circles and play with this or any other GTR, so don't think for a moment that Nissan has the best car just becuse you watched a 3 minute video of it passing some cars that didn't even care to defend because they're on a different strategy.
The car looks an absolute pleasure to drive. Really well set up.

What happened to cause the frustration at 2:28?
Would be awesome of this car doesn't have to change to rear wheel specs for GT3 category. I wonder how fast this car can go and better corner entry and exit just like the road version GTR or the legendary r32 gtr in bathurst. I think not just 17 but many more cars can be overtaken by awesome Alex because i find this Nissan GT3 look quite hard to drive compare to other manufactures.
The reason he can overtake so many cars in first laps was because he probably faced mechanical issues during quali and had to start from the last grid. In any GT3 races there are so many slow gentleman drivers (It's gt3 not gt1). If he is driving a NISMO GT-R GT3 he is most likely a factory driver and his lap time could be 3-10 seconds faster than 70% of the field. It is not because the GT-R is fast or he is really really fast, it is just because 70% of the field are usually gentlemanly slow.

OK - I'll enlighten everybody since this is a prime example of how people get to believe the GTR is so much better than any other car by judging a single lap endurance race lap...
1. The car finished qualifying on 32nd out of 37 - not exactly a great performance to begin with...why didn't it go faster during qualifying?
2. It's an endurance race and maybe they just started with less fuel compared to others or/and softer tires - but what I'm saying is: a risky first lap might not help all that much in an endurance competition
3. They finished in 13th place (29 of 37 finished in total) - behind 2x McLaren, 2x Audi R8, 2x BMW Z4, 2x Mercedes SLS, 2x Ferrrari 458, 2x Bentley Continental - don't get me wrong its a great result given they started in 32nd but the GTR didn't exactly kill the competition (which is what the video title suggests)

+Eric Wenzel video doesnt suggest that this was the best car on the circuit that weekend, just simply saying this is a great first lap with amazing overtakes.
There was an intercooler failure during qualifying. They got it fixed, but one car crashed and red-flagged the remainder of the session.
I'm almost certain that this is actually a simulator for Grand Turismo, and not a real race.

After he had passed 18 cars i was left to wonder - who the hell is driving faster than Buncombe? And you could see tail-lights of a Lambo or maybe LFA dicing its way forward, as clip came to an end. Tail-lights. That's how I identify racecars from footage, even at race, moreso than grillework, or headlight scheme. I am going back out to the driveway to look at the tail-lights that won LeMans 1967 - the very lights the whole field watched pass by in the GT40 MkIV. The lights are found in every early model Chev Corvair. Or, I have a GT 40 Mk Iv in the driveway. My car also has a transmission design that won Riverside, Brands Hatch, Mosport, Watkins Glen and Nurburgring - for a Texas sports car builder, Jim Hall. Powerglide two-speed, the lightest reliable tranny piece Mr. Hall could find.
Nissan, for even the street Nissan GT-R Nismo I'll sell you 10% of my soul, a kidney, and the rights to any and all children I could ever have. I would take one of those over any Italian exotic, even LaFerrari or Huarya BC, for this crazy little love.
Keep blessing the tracks and streets, and keep doing it well and without buying laws and cheating.
(I'm looking at you, Mercedes Benz. All of you need to go eat your cheating wheels. )

The GT-R is a crazy car and all, but I felt that Al could've been in a different car and achieved similar results. Good work, Buncombe! Sick work with an awesome car O.o
Why what's the problem? I don't see how good this Nissan Academy driver is. Some say that the 18 cars are driven by people who play Forza, rFactor, Need for losers and iRacing. So, pawning noob fans is nothing professional of a racing driver. Remain humble Nissan, in case kids try to spit dirt and dust on you

Aggressive driving makes you move up the field faster but also increases your chance of an accident, wonder what they told him after the race, good job or relax kid, I think it was a bit of each. Remember in real life you don't bounce off of walls and other cars when you hit them, you destroy cars, hurt yourself and others or DIE. Better for him to take chances like that when he gets a little bit more experience.
there is a different in a pro cup, pro am cup, and gentleman trophy. I think that is why he can easily overtaking a lot of car maybe it is because there are in a different class. That is why it is getting rougher to overtake after he met the SLS AMG. you guys need to read more before bashing others car brand. I love GTR but i dont like people who made fun on the other super car.

***** If it was so easy everyone would be doing it lol. Its not so easy, hundreds of crashes were borne because drivers got cocky and thought they could thread the needle. It takes a lot of skill and some luck knowing other drivers see you too and you'll have a way by.
this is actually common with fast drivers who for some reason have to start at the back. eg. penalties or something preventing them from setting a good qualifying time.

Looks like the car started in last position for a problem in the clasification..thats why he is so fast after passing the slowers cars he match his pack..

If you want to see some impressive first-lap passing, catch these of Marc Marquez when he was in Moto2, at Valencia 2012 when he was penalized and having to start from the back of the grid, and at Motegi 2012 when he started the race in neutral. The grid was 33-strong at Valencia and 31 at Motegi.
All Moto2 bikes have Dorna-controlled CBR600RR engines prepared identically (though they may have different chassis).
He wound up winning both of these races.

Why is he using the right foot and not the left foot for braking if he doesn't have to operate the clutch since it's a paddle shifter??
Judging by this performance, I'm sure he's doing what he needs to do to get shit done ;)
Whilst that is a valid technique and can be effective. You end up over heating the brakes and using more fuel. Since most racing these days is racing to a fuel number, you can see why it isn't used in elite racing. While in series, and local competitions it is more common!

In karting it is a habit that travels with you, and sometimes you need to feather throttle to keep up RPM during long corners etc. I am sure there is a wiki page dedicated to it lol
