When I think of the warriors , the first thing I remember is Dean Bell leading them out in 1995 . A true champion of this great sport , there was no one better as the inaugural captain. He appeared many times at Wembley and I wish he played more matches in the Winfield cup.
I was lucky enough to watch Dean play throughout his Wigan career. There were a lot of fantastic players there. He was my favourite. Brilliant centre, tough as teak, always seemed to take the right option. In those days you didn't hear the players speak so it was really enjoyable to watch this video and confirm he's a great man off the pitch as well.
Dean Bell was the fastest kiwi player in his heyday he could run down anyone he was unbelievably quick you go back to his early test he use to mow down some of thoses speedsters in the kangaroos. I forgot all about putting Dean Bell as one of the warriors best centres him and Toopi would of made a mean combo.
Bell talks about developing our own,But Bell was the man behind the Sam Tomkins saga, bought Dane Nielson and many others that were past there use by date . But how do we find a way to make the kiwi talent as good as the Aussie systems ?
True Day 1 warrior fans know Gavin Hill is Warrior no.1,just put Dean Bell as inaugural Warriors captain that's enough mana in that title, don't rewrite history it is what it is.
Never forgotten Dean Bell - Cheers Mate
