And the Corps of Engineers has recently caused another delay in construction. The very idea that it would take until 2030 to complete this project is absurd. The stumbling block is the federal government. One last large project the Corps did on the Mississippi River took more than thirty years to complete. World War 2 was done in five years. The current administration will block progress of America any way possible and Americans should demand the lock be prioritized NOW! Our entire country's infrastructure has been left decaying because those who run our governments are enriching themselves while screwing America. At 4:57 you can see trees growing out of one of the large structures there at the Soo. That is indicative of the level of maintenance our whole country has seen. Americans need to demand money taxed from Americans be spent on America. Stop the crap, stop the undeclared war with Russia, stop protecting borders around the world and Protect America.

2030 , OMFG this is a crock. Get some folks from way down south to build these locks. Have it bid out to a private concern and get it done in one year. The Corps are THE WORST . There is a lock complex on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga that has been under construction for 20 years !!

There are rail connections between the taconite mines and the steel mills on Lakes Michigan and Erie! So, the ore pellet trains which originate in upper Minnesota could continue to Chicago and Detroit rather than to the loading docks at Duluth/Superior and Two Harbours. It might also be quicker!

and far more expensive. Plus it would take longer because the increased number of trains running the same routes.

Anytime the government is involved it is a cost over run, delayed getting done, pockets are line by some. Lets go Brandon.
