Hi I am a BITS student I feel that your avg CTC data is wrong because you are just calculating avg CTC based on how many different branch people are eligible to sit in a particular company and not by the actual placement data For eg there are many IT jobs for which the company may write all branches but still they give more preference to CS/ Electronics graduates and very few people from core branches get into IT companies. For eg you are writing highest CTC for all branches is 55 lac because the company offering 55 lacs is allowing all branch students to sit in that but there is very high possibility that no person from civil or chemical branch makes into that company. So CTC figures are incorrect especially for core branches.
Finally, koi dimaag wala banda. Varna log mislead hee hote jaayenge. Such a direct conversion in Indian and offshore packages is not valid. The costs of living vary widely across countries and hence that should be accounted for.
Being unplaced is extremely rare, since you not only have placements, but also summer internships and Practice School, both of which can result in a PPO. PPO statistics are not considered in placement statistics.
@@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 do people get 5-10 lpa or below in bits Pilani? Could u give me a percentage of students with 7+ cgpa who got less than 12lpa ?
Neither of them is "reliable". Please watch the video carefully, and understand that this is not the average package as you hear about it commonly. I've explained how I calculated those numbers.
Bhaiya since there is a bit of time in bits(college) to start its academic course. Can you guide me what should I study in this free time which would benefit my cgpa in 1st year ,as I just have to achieve a good cgpa to get a good BE branch.
Don't worry too much about the first year now. Please take some time for yourself and spend time with your family who would have only seen you from a distance for most of the time during your exams and prep. If you are really really free, you can start learning a little bit of C programming.
Bhaiya tell honestly 23 lakh is worth it for bits pilani if you wanted to start a startup,,, I am getting bits goa ECE and NSIT IT which one to choose ,, what extra perks does bits provide for those extra 13 lakh I am paying,,,,,,,,plzzz tell
First of all, unless you have a concrete idea and business plan already, it doesn't make sense to choose college based on that fact, because plans and circumstances change all the time in college. If you already have a concrete plan, then why even join college when you can completely focus on that plan? While college fee shouldn't be looked at like this, but overall, you get a better peer group because of no reservation, more academic flexibility like zero percent attendance so that you can focus on growing your own startup, etc.
Everyone manages. If you are interested, it should not be a problem. It can be hectic but would not be like JEE. If you are totally neutral in interest, then Bio is the lightest, and also quite interesting among these.
The data is highly flawed. For jobs that all branches are eligible for, whichever person from that particular branch made to the highest package ie 55 lakhs, that 55 lakhs should be included to calculate the average of only that branch. If EEE guy got that 55 lakh, don't consider it while calculating average of Chemical branch. This is the reason why chemical avg package is showing 10 LPA (Approx) but it will only be around 7-7.5 LPA if people from only chemical branch are taken into account while calculating the average (irrespective of whatever domain they secure their jobs in, be it IT,BF etc.) And if we see only core chemical jobs offered to students, placement percentage would be 30-40% and only 5-6 LPA average CTC. And mind you, quite some people will remain unemployed too, or get useless faculty jobs in RaoIIT etc. Mostly chemical engineers don't learn coding, believe me, my friend studies ChemEng too, but he just lost interest in coding after sem 1 when core subjects came, usne bhi Pilani ChemEng mein ye hee sochkar liya tha admission khub coding karunga and IT sector job nikalunga. But it takes really too much toll to study your own branch completely, then study some other 2nd branch so well that you are better than many people who belonged to that 2nd branch originally, and studied that 2nd branch solely for their 4 years, unlike you. And if you try to do both, learn for core chem job and IT sector job both, you'll be the jack of both trades, remember. And sorry, this world is highly unfair to jacks, you need to be very good in whatever you're doing. Always prefer branch over college friends, go to any little weaker college than BITS (like lower IIITs in good areas or VIT Vellore or Manipal (main campus) or PES type colleges in Bangalore), but don't compromise with branch if what matters to you are placements at the end of 4 years.
I see your point but don't agree to it at all. I don't think we should only include the CTC amount for the EEE person if they got it. That makes the entire exercise useless because it reflects the data for only a particular batch in history in that case, and it becomes useless for the coming batch. In that particular batch there was a smart EEE person so he bagged that offer. If there was a smart civil person in that EEE person's place, that civil person would have got it. So to get a true idea of the opportunities of civil, one should average up all the opportunities of civil. I am not trying to compute the averages in the way that colleges usually do since it's highly batch specific. But since I need to quantify the "opportunities" and not the history, that is where the calculation stems from.
@@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 Your calculations indicate something like, (if there were to exist something like this) Opportunity Index Average (OIA) but definitely not Average Package or Average CTC. In fact, it is far from average. Sorry, but it is misleading for someone who wants to know branch specific average packages, and especially for branches like Chemical, Civil etc. because it is a matter of fact that most of those "open for all" and "high paying jobs" are bagged by people from CS/IT in all colleges of India. Including them in calculations for Chemical, Civil etc. is just inflating the branch avg CTC for these branches, creating a false sense of pride, false sense of security and more than anything, confusion.
@@commenterdek3241 you are absolutely wrong when you say that "open for all" jobs are bagged only by CS folks. Most consulting roles are in fact bagged by non CS people.
@@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 Okay, minor correction, most "high paying and open for all IT sector jobs" are bagged by CS/IT people which when included in Civil, Chemical etc. calculations create a massive inflation of average CTC, as the major chunk of jobs offered in engineering colleges are IT sector jobs , in comparison to any other domain, be it BF,CO etc. Man, just accept that what you're displaying in the video is NOT the average package of each branch (and surely misleading for Chemical, Civil etc.). There's no harm accepting when your mistakes are being pointed out. Except for what I mistakenly wrote (and you pointed out), everything else that I wrote in the reply is completely legit, and reasons very well what I wrote in the main comment in the first place.
@@commenterdek3241 It seems like it's more about making me apologise and less about having the public welfare in mind. But I still stand by my points. I have clearly mentioned all the caveats and limitations of the analysis in the video. I have also mentioned the "it's what you are eligible for" part with examples. With all that in place, if you don't pay attention and draw the wrong conclusions, then nothing I can do about it.

If you don't take loan over 20L, then collateral is not required. Check if you are eligible for MCN, that could bring the fee down to below 20L. A video on the fee and scholarship calculation is coming up soon.
@@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 In general including both 1st semester and 2nd semester, what do you think the median package of chemical engineering would be? And is it very tough to get vertical branch transfer to mechanical engineering (wht CGPA required?)
Would not like to comment on the average package as I am unaware of it, but a transfer to mech would be at around 9.5ish. But there are certain logistics criteria at play when transfers are considered, and those are outside of your control. So better not to take any branch in hopes of a transfer.

Some of the difference can be attributed to sem 1 vs. sem 2 data. Apart from that, these things change from sem to sem. There are a lot of companies in sem 1 atleast are in the 20-40LPA range. Averages are anyway problematic numbers and should not be taken too seriously. And maybe they were talking about median and not average?
Any aggregate is not the full picture, but yes median is less sensitive to outliers and hence a bit better. However, you should confirm with those he claimed that what their sources are. It could be that they just thought of a few companies and their CTCs and gave you a number.
@@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 Yes the numbers are inflated but the same inflation of salaries average occur even in iits and other college average placements as well so it is good to gauge the placement scenario by looking at the averages anyway as both are equally sensitive to outliers

@@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 do people get 5-10 lpa or below in bits Pilani? Could u give me a percentage of students with 7+ cgpa who got less than 12lpa ?
Bhaiya, please could you mention median package since it's more reliable than average?
Thanx for the advise
What about placements of MSc economics

How difficult it is to manage physics in dual degree targeting cs, other option being Chemistry or Bio
Everyone manages. If you are interested, it should not be a problem. It can be hectic but would not be like JEE.
If you are totally neutral in interest, then Bio is the lightest, and also quite interesting among these.
Bro, can your tell bits give the chance to sit placement if you're have p less marks in 12th std for mtech course....
Thanks sir
Sir I have a doubt I heard that if we wish to take a loan for dual degree we need to surety (collateral) since the fees gets higher than 20 lakhs is there an option to pays the extra fees which excceded 20 lakhs and can I take loan of 20 lakhs without collateral from sbi in bits
If you don't take loan over 20L, then collateral is not required. Check if you are eligible for MCN, that could bring the fee down to below 20L. A video on the fee and scholarship calculation is coming up soon.
Yes sir iam eligible for MCN

Yes this is Pilani campus data. I can't tell you why organisations don't prefer a certain branch. Maybe related vacancies were not there.

3. After 2nd year students go for PS. Is it different for dualites? Like do dualites get a choice of working on BE or MSc field or they have to attend PS through a particular field?
bhaiya, from this factual analysis, the avg.ctc for cse branch is 14.58 lpa.. but some seniors tell that the avg.ctc of cse branch is 22 lpa.. is it true bhaiya? i am a little confused.. please reply
@@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 yes bhaiya..median only.. is median more realistic than average ?
Any aggregate is not the full picture, but yes median is less sensitive to outliers and hence a bit better. However, you should confirm with those he claimed that what their sources are. It could be that they just thought of a few companies and their CTCs and gave you a number.
