@Fe J There's a DirtFish article where they talk about the handling of the i20 Coupe on tarmac. It's a really interesting article. On it, they say how only Neuville was able to take the most out of that car on tarmac rallies. Even tarmac specialists like Loeb or Sordo struggled with it. _"For some reason, drivers - with the exception of Thierry Neuville - seem to struggle to extract everything from the i20 Coupe WRC on asphalt. Worryingly, questions are now surfacing as to whether Ott Tänak is now the latest member of this miserable club."_ The only time (at least that I remember now) when I really thought Ott was exaggerating with his complaints about the car, was last year in Finland. He made it look like it was trash; "this thing is undriveable; this thing is a nightmare to drive." I don't think a car that's that bad can keep the pace against Rovanperä (!) driving a Yaris (!) and on a rally like Finland. Ott can also be critical with himself: in Rally Japan last year he said the i20 N had the pace, but that he was unable to understand it. In this Rally Portugal, he said that he haven't had such a bad performance for the last six years or so.
I was massively happy when I saw the thumbnail! The excitement was so huge it made me feel like a child again. But the disappointment of seeing the bumper cams from hell also made me feel like a child again. The power of WRC onboards! Now, here comes an opinionated comment: those bumper cams are useless for comparisons. Sure, they allow you to see if they're head-to-head, but that's about it. They are located at the very front of the car, the part that moves the less. They are too low, and they provide us zero references of where the car is - we can't see the dash, nor the bonnet, nothing. This looks like a spectator mode in a FPS game. Like a camera that's floating, moving thru the roads boringly. We can't feel the bumps. It's hard to feel the angle of attack (how sideways the car is) and how the chassis shifts weights side-to-side, and front-to-back. It's hard to appreciate the body language of the car. Then it's hard or outright impossible to appreciate the differences between their driving styles, which is probably the most important thing in such comparison videos. It's a pity, since these two drivers have fantastic driving styles and this could have been one hell of a video. We can't even appreciate the beauty of the stage - then again, because the camera is too low. In my opinion, it's the worst camera location; even worse than the door/rear mirror cameras. But I love that these videos are made in the first place, and so well edited! I enjoyed a lot previous videos of this kind. LIKE.
@@Franko384 loeb has the best car for years, ogier had a polo wrc that had more HP than others, Kalle is fighting alone, because the other cars cant survive a stage
