@@weebobart Thanks, Wee Bob. I must admit I am looking forward to using the Rebelle 5. I had been looking at it and the Corel but I came to the conclusion that Rebelle was the better option. The fact I could get it for just £12 was definatelly the icing on the cake.
Love the concise explanations and additional demonstrations of concepts on other canvases. I've just picked up Rebelle 5 while it was on sale and ran into the same issue regarding the inability to see "wetness" on the brush and paper compared with its real-world counterpart. I was hoping to use the program for mockups or experimenting, creating my own reference for watercolor paintings, and many of the Rebelle tutorials approach it more like a Photoshop or other digital program, aggressively using the "fast dry" after every stroke instead of learning to read the sliders and translate it to a loaded brush vs water saturation that I've had to learn at the drafting table with real materials. Your videos have been the best I've found for my particular approach to the program, and I just wanted to say thank you for reminding me and inspiring me to think about the program in a way that reflects reality: Get in there and experiment scientifically. 👩🎨🎨 Thanks, Wee Bob ! Please keep painting and learning, so grateful to you for sharing your experiences.
Thank you for the kind words and great that you have picked up Rebelle 5 especially if you got it on the current sale. I am making a video just now on some tricks that we can use to help us get results similar to real life, will see how it goes but I have had some really good results so far. I am definitely more for the traditional approach if I can achieve it, especially when it comes to layers, sometimes though it can be easier just to employ those digital tools which make life somewhat easier. Glad you are liking the tutorials and if you have any video ideas, throw them my way as it is always good to get a fresh perspective on what might be interesting to watch or learn. I totally agree with what you said about the water becoming invisible after being applied, rendering the tool almost useless. It wasn't like this in previous versions. I asked Rebelle support to reinstate that feature, but they said users asked for the change... I would suggest that they reinstate it and give the option to turn it on and off and maybe even give the choice of color to use to indicate the wet areas... A lighter, more neutral color than cyan might be less intrusive. Please, Rebelle, if you are listening....
Hopefully they do bring in this option or revert back to what they had previously. I'm still learning the ropes of the software but it is certainly my favourite to paint with digitally.
