My vote would be to make just the collar for the other blouse - have it as a detachable collar you can put with other tops, dresses & jumpers! COuld be a cute way of having it ready to go without the commitment of a whole 'nother 80s statement blouse.
That blouse is GORGEOUS! Having lived through the 80's I usually dislike any 80's styled clothing but this blouse is absolutely a knockout---classic for any decade. I'm so glad you have come to like it, too. I think the fabric is perfect for the style, and those covered buttons are the icing on the cake! Great job.
I agree, it is the perfect fabric to make it vintage-forward. I also was in college in the early 80's, and I definitely recall these kinds of blouses with the oversize, Victorian derived features. Back then we dressed up to go to classes much of the time and the girls on my dorm floor wore all kinds of blouses like this one, some with HUGE "leg-o-mutton" sleeves, and lots of ruffles, lace, and ribbons neckties. I think it should be worn without hesitation, as it really is terrific.
That blouse looks absolutely adorable on you. It doesn’t look bold or out there at all. Please feel confident wearing it!! It is beautiful and you did an amazing job. And it is GORGEOUS on you!!
WEAR IT!! It’s beautiful even though it’s different. I grew up in the 80s but never was drawn to big collars but this is a perfect statement piece. If you make another maybe make a little smaller without the tie.
I love how it turned out, from the pleated detail to the amazing collar, you really chose the perfect fabric for this project! Also you rock this look, it suits you so well, and I feel like it’s a statement piece that you will actually get a lot of wear out of! You can totally dress it down with just a pair of jeans and sneakers! I would love to see you make another with the tablecloth, I feel like that fabric was born to be made into something like this! Loved the video ❤️ it’s nice seeing you try different styles and experimenting
It’s a perfect statement piece. It’s so you! Please please make the table cloth blouse! The fabric was so nice and I’d love to see the finish product! ❤️
I truly think you should try making that same pattern with the tablecloth. I think it would be absolutely beautiful and everybody who saw you wearing it would complement you want it! Just go for it!
I love this blouse!! It is very, very charming, sweet and smart. The fabric, color and fit is on the mark. I vote for another one in the vintage fabric ~ it will be amazing! Thank you for sharing this, very inspiring.
That blouse hit several decades throughout history and the more recent period of time with the 80s of course when those big colors were very popular and it looks
Hello! I hope my little note finds you well and happy. I spent the day in my sewing room making scrap string baskets for my daughter's business. Now I get the treat of watching you! I hope you have a glorious week ahead! Thank you for sharing your time, talent and videos!
The colour and texture of the fabric is so lovely for this blouse! It's really cute and looks great on you Janelle! I think the gentle colour doesn't make it too loud or over the top, it's definitely very pretty 😊 cottage core vibes with a little bit of western? 💕
I love the blouse! It looks fantastic on you. I'm glad you came to love it. I think the table cloth fabric would look wonderful. The uniqueness of its edges would give the collar a very special look.
First I thought the collar was too big but when you tried it on, I completely changed my mind...it's so beautiful ! I just remember having a dress as a child in the 80"s with the same collar and puffy sleeves, it was my favorite !
So Im not the only one who tries to use recycled stuff like doilies and table cloths for vintage effects...occasionally they do work. Just found your channel for the first time. Wow - great result. Ahhh - the 1980's - dont pretend you dont remember ya'all. LOL I remember it was 1983. I was in yr 9 at high school sewing, and I chose a Lady DI dress to make. COmplete with gathered sleeves, high neck collar, cuffs..yoke - the works. My BFF was a denim jeans and chains punk girl - Cindi Lauper look. But she used sewing classes to make toys. I remember being SO PROUD of this dress....when I tried it on when it was finished, my friend wet herself with laughter - for WEEKS. I felt SO humiliated. But i got a B+ for it - and I know I choose the pattern for its skill level. I wanted to learn how to waistbands, cuffs and zips. I was only 13. Worse still the dress had a big bow on the collar...OMG...but it was high lady fashion. But ocrrect me if im wrong...but am i seeing these fashions again in the high stores??? ROTFLMHO. Great video
The blouse is so you; wear it with confidence and your usual smile. And yes, do make the beige blouse using the tablecloth as the collar, again it would be so you. Enjoy your makes.
There is no doubt this fabric was a great choice for this pattern; perfect! Beautiful job and an excellent piece for your style. Looking forward to seeing what you choose do with that gorgeous table cloth.
The blouse is absolutely beautiful on you and you should definitely not be intimidated to wear it! Just wear it and be proud of it, because it is definitely something to be proud of.
This style blouse is back in fashion now, with big collars and ruffles, my DIL wants the Bakerloo blouse lol very similar. I love everything about your 80s blouse, fabric, colour, style and think it really suits you 🎉❤
Hi Janelle, Your blouse is beautiful and perfectly detailed. I am glad you made your own buttons in the same material. This adds to the beautiful finish. I definitely agree with you too, your next blouse in your selected materials, l would make the blouse version without the ruffle. Both of these materials will look fabulous together. 😍
I love it and the colour really suits you. Tablecloth option, yes go for it. I think using it to make a collar is a fantastic way to show off the beautiful work that has gone in to making it.
I was born in 81 and had dresses with this type of collar and absolutely loved them. Of course, I was like 8 at the time and I don't think I'll be revisiting this look, but it looks super cute on you! You did a beautiful job of putting it together, as always, and the soft, ruffly, flowy look/vibe is just right on you, huge collar and all!
Hi Janelle, wow what a stunning blouse you made. Love the idea of covering your buttons in the same fabric. I think it's the perfect statement piece. The colour is really good. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. Remain blessed xxx
Really love how’s beautiful this blouse turned out. Girl, while you’re young, gorgeous and slim, you should definitely wear all the things that you want, and be proud 🥰 I’d be really interested to see how the tablecloth looks in this blouse. A good way to recycle and refurbish 💕
I love vintage patterns Janelle and this blouse is so lovely. I can see it was a lot of work but I would love to see you make another with the vintage tablecloth. The plain colour fabric suits the embroidery design beautifully. 🥰🐾
The colour is amazing on you and really suits the style.. I love seeing all your vintage patterns and somewhere in the back of my memory can see myself flipping through pattern books back in the day and seeing things just like that 😉.. I think you should make the other blouse with the tablecloth collar and perhaps use a ribbon for the tie at the front which would make it more dainty and suit the detail of the collar.. 🤔 Have fun experimenting.. 💕😍
The blouse is stunning on you. You have an amazing skill for creating beautiful clothing. I could see this at Anthropology for mega bucks. You are so talented. Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos. We do appreciate it!
Hi Janell 😊 I love to watch your videos sweetie your such an inspiration. The fabrics you use and the beautiful things you create with them. I love a thrift shop and do a little sewing myself (just for me) but you have given me some fabulous ideas. Thankyou and deserve all the best things in the world. Happy sewing sweetie. Watching from the UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧xxx
I'm not a blouse person myself. I love them on other people but I think they don't do much for my body so I own none. However, I love dresses on me and I would 100% wear a dress version of that blouse, big collar and all. It turned out adorable. Fabric, colour, all the details... The fabric buttons change everything! I'm going to pay more attention to those details from now on, even change the buttons of some pieces in my wardrobe 🙀
The blouse turned out beautiful and fits you perfectly! The collar is lovely! I think you should go for making the other one. I'm sure it will be just as lovely! Always enjoy your videos 👗💕
Big collars were in fashion last summer in the UK, and my daughter tells me that they are in fashion again this summer, so you are bang on trend. Go for it and make the tablecloth one and wear both! Love your channel x
For me Janelle, this is your best video to date. The blouse is gorgeous so well done for trying a new style. It reminds me of all the Laura Ashley styles and it’s beautiful. We used to go the whole way with blouses like that with big midi skirts or high waisted , cropped baggy trousers/jeans( often in corduroy) Padded shoulder jackets over the top but today it looks good as the statement piece put together with simpler skirts/trousers and contemporary footwear. Etc. Brilliant video... I liked seeing your thought processes and decision making. 👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely beautiful! I am obsessed with big-collar blouses and am so excited to make one. Your video has given me the confidence to make one for myself! Love the fabric you chose too. Thank you for your videos, Janelle!
The blouse looks brilliant Janelle. I sewed my way through the 80's but didn't have the expertise to make a big collar like that but it looks fabulous, really suits you.
Honestly, I can totally see my college roommates and I trading this blouse back and forth back in the early 80's and wanting to wear it everywhere. .classes, dates, student teaching, etc. .we would have worn it till it was threadbare!!
I love love love it I think everything you make is fantastic but this is my favourite. I don’t think the collar is oversized at all wear it with pride, it’s beautiful.
Also, I love the size of the collar. From afar, it looks like the blouse has some sort of capped ruffle sleeve. I love how it looks. love all the details. You look great.
When you started out I wondered about the design features - large collar, ruffled collar, pin tucks and a bow. Not quite Chanel! But this blouse proved me wrong. I think it is lovely and it looks good on you. Well done.
The blouse is adorable! I bought a similar pattern with a large collar and now I am feeling inspired to give it a go. I think you should make the table cloth version. It will be just as amazing!
That is so you! It is so delicate and soft looking, adorable. The fabric is perfect. If you use the tablecloth for that pattern, you’ll have to piece it. Hard, but not impossible.
I hope you decide to make the tablecloth one! The lace and embroidery would give such a vintage touch! The green is beautiful! I'm hoping to try my hand at sewing this summer. Thanks for the inspiration!
Its really lovely...l remember wearing something similar in a dark forest green with a shorter puffy sleeve...the collar was trimmed with same colour lace and narrow satin ribbon
I think it turned out beautiful! It reminds me of the "ruffle over the shoulder seam" current fashion, only appears way better as if it's a tailored blouse with a ruffle accented yoke. Great job!
I think the statement blouse looks lovely on you! You can definitely pull it off :) I loved that we got to see you wrestle with the pattern a bit, I can so relate to that! I would love to see you make another statement blouse out of the table cloth. Even if you don't want it for yourself it would be gorgeous and sell for sure!
The blouse looks perfect on you. I don't think it is such a statement piece that you can't wear it casually. I would love to see the tablecloth version as well because this looks so amazing :).
I love the way it came out. The muted color I think really helps balance out the big collar and help keep it from being too much. :)
It looks great! The collar actually looks more like a yoke on video which is my favorite thing!
Great job.
I totally agree!
Thanks lovely! Yeah going the extra mile on all the details was definitely worth it 😍
SAME! Love this!
I agree, it is the perfect fabric to make it vintage-forward. I also was in college in the early 80's, and I definitely recall these kinds of blouses with the oversize, Victorian derived features. Absolutely adorable. You matched fabric and style to a “T”
It’s the PERFECT STATEMENT PIECE. It really suits you! I could imagine it paired with some high waisted plain black wide-legged trousers 😍
That blouse looks absolutely adorable on you. It doesn’t look bold or out there at all. Please feel confident wearing it!! It is beautiful and you did an amazing job. And it is GORGEOUS on you!!
Ahh thank you so much! Now that I’m used to it I love it and plan on wearing it heaps 😍
The blouse is beautiful.it’s not over the top. Because all the details are in the same fabric, it’s very cohesive and pleasing to the eye well done
This blouse suits you so well! It’s not as out there as you think. It’s super cute!
WEAR IT!! It’s beautiful even though it’s different. I grew up in the 80s but never was drawn to big collars but this is a perfect statement piece. If you make another maybe make a little smaller without the tie.
The 80's are a vintage style decade too and have a lot of cute styles.
I love how it turned out, from the pleated detail to the amazing collar, you really chose the perfect fabric for this project! Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed watching the process, it was such a fun one to make 😍
The tablecloth will be darling in that pattern!
It’s a perfect statement piece. It’s so you! Please please make the table cloth blouse! The fabric was so nice and I’d love to see the finish product! ❤️
I love how the colour keeps it at bay, as in not too loud or way over the top. Wear it proud!
I’m so on board for the table cloth blouse!!
Perfect!! Beautiful!!! I was in my 20s in the 80s and loved the big collars. And yes, make the other one.
I think the table cloth blouse would be amazing! Especially with that lovely plain stone coloured fabric 🤩
That blouse hit several decades throughout history and the more recent period of time with the 80s of course when those big colors were very popular and it looks
I graduated in the early 80s. I loved these big collar shirts.

I think that, because you're so petite, the blouse is perfect on you. Don't be afraid to rock it!
This kind of collar is the perfect place to use embroidered tablecloths and napkins.

This blouse is absolutely gorgeous! Not over the top at all and the fit is just so perfect on you
Thank you! 🧡
I absolutely loved the start to finish of that beautiful blouse! You did a great job, naturally. Thanks for taking us along.
I love it and the colour really suits you. Tablecloth option, yes go for it. I think using it to make a collar is a fantastic way to show off the beautiful work that has gone in to making it.
I was a girl when that pattern was popular. Your fabric choice and styling makes it modern with a nod to the past. Well done!
Love the covered Buttons! You can never go wrong with them.

I just love how you dare to try out so many different styles with such ease and confidence
Aw thanks so much 🧡 Make and wear what you want, I say! xx
I just love the blouse, it looks amazing on you! Yes wear it.....💖
It's AMAZING and looks gorgeous on you. Loving all the details in it.
A beautiful and stylish blouse! I like it more worn with a longer skirt (more elegant) and slacks. The texture is also quite appealing. Enjoy!
This blouse is gorgeous. The color is great. Looks wonderful on you. Good job. Glad you are liking your new machine.
I love, love, love the blouse! Wear it, it looks gorgeous on you!
The blouse is perfectly adorable.

I love the statement blouse and collar is not too big at all. Also the material you have used is perfect for this project.
I think the result is great! You really style it well and the choice of pattern/color palette is perfect and more subtle. 😌

I remember them the first time round. You wear it well. Love the fabric.
Janelle, it looks bloody fabulous! Your last tablecloth blouse is my fav piece you've ever done so PLEASE, do another one xxxx
Hehe thank you! Once I decided on the perfect project for it I’ll be sharing the making process for sure xx
I wasn't sure of it until you put it on. It looks great, I think it would look amazing in an adapted dress form too.
I would absolutely wear it with medium wash jeans or shorts! The blouse is beautiful!
Also this style of blouse is perfect for gals with fuller hips like mine!
The green blouse looks great on you and I think the tablecloth version would look equally as great.
It is beautiful. It fits you perfectly.
It's absolutely stunning! I really love your styles and designs. Your videos are really inspiring. I'm excited to see more of your videos.
What a wonderful blouse, I watch your videos while I work on my projects for inspiration and I look forward to Saturdays for your new videos.
I think it turned out beautiful! It reminds me of the "ruffle over the shoulder seam" current fashion, only appears way better as if it's a tailored blouse with a ruffle accented yoke. Great job!

The blouse looks perfect on you. I don't think it is such a statement piece that you can't wear it casually. I would love to see the tablecloth version as well because this looks so amazing :).
Your pairing with the cord skirt is excellent.
