With all due respect Zhenya Kanayeva is the first and only gymnast decorated with 2 individual all-around Olympic Golden medals and she is 20 times World Champion- so for that reason she must go on top of the list ! I know Alina Kabayeva is a favourite gymnast in Russia... particularly in some political circles- but we should call a spade a spade... KANAYEVA is the MASTER of ALL TIMES ! Let alone she was and still is a smart, hard-working, charming and modest athlete !!!!

Besso yes but RG already existed before the 90s. Rizatdinova? Serebryanskaya, Skaldina, Timoshenko, Deriugina, Vitrichenko, Yerofeeva were far more relevant for RG than Rizatdinova. Why would you want her in a top ten?
rizatdinova is important , and not because she revolutionized the sport, but due to her technical difficulty etc. you are talking like only girls who made changes should be here.
Sorry, what technical difficulty? Sure she is important, she's the only one capable of bringing some medals to Ukraine these days. But she didn't won anything big, she didn't brought any new element to RG, she's just one of many. None of those i quoted made big changes in the sport. Many of them are unwatchable to me but fact is they were huge names. You make history by inovating or winning big competitions.

sadly Kanaeva ,even thought she kept winning anything was never Viner 's favorite pupil, i think Viner felt she was never one if HER gymanst,having kanaeva a really tight bond with her personal coach Vera shtelbaums,and a style viner is not fond of..and as much she can be humble i think Kanaeva was less servant towards her like it was with kabaeva,nor she had the ambitious in politcal matter or anything ekse (kabaeva instead cough cough..)

Of course they'd choose Kabaeva, even though Kanaeva was technically the best... Kabaeva revolutionized the sport. Its a laughing matter that they dare to consider Kanaeva and Mamun at the same level... KIEV 2013.

Alle Gretto Kiev was not a technical problem. Rita had back then in 2013 by far the most mature routines. The problem was her psychology. As Viner said: Rita isn't made for competition. In Kiev they didn't know this, and tried to build her up like the new Kanaeva, always winning, always the best. She couldn't cope with it, and lost it. She recovered during three years, where she proved that she is the best of the best with Yana. Just remember Europeans 2014! I didn't think someone could overcome something like that, I thought she would burst into tears at any moment and just stop the competition! And not only in psychologic terms, she has unbelievable skills! And then, 2016, at the Games, she finally got what she deserved for her tremendous work. But I still think that she and Yana should be on the same step in this ranking, and I hope Yana is getting her Gold in Tokyo
mariagirl234 Yes, just like same Story back in 2000. Alina Kabaeva used to win everything, like Kudryavtseva. But they both hand mistake, with took gold. Like Both were sure gold. Then Alina got into doping, and had BIG break. Yana 'retired' . Does it sauna similar? Both 2 years break?

2. Kabaeva (introduced modern rhythmic gymnastics. We have new standards and routines because of her)

1.Evgenia kanaeva (by far the greatest rhythmic gymnast her two gold Olympic medals was never questioned because she really did deserve them)
2. Alina kabaeva (real 2000 gold medalist and did not deserve her 2004 win. most famous rhythmic gymnast)
3. Irina tchachina (real 2004 gold medalist, robbed of many gold because of kabaeva)
3. Anna bessonova (made it on the Olympic podium twice, deserved silver in 2004 and was robbed of silver and gold during 2000-2004)
4. Yana kudravesyva & margarita magnum (yana was better but she made a mistake and margarita executed her routine at the right time, just like how yulia won gold because alina made a mistake in 2000)
Ya this list should be called Russians best rhythmic gymnast. But evgenia kanaeva will always be number one in all rhythmic gymnastics list. Its a JOKE they ever compare evgenia to margarita.
i think Tchachina was the unluckiest russian gymanst , she was with kabaeva,the ultimate FAVORITE of Viner, and kabaeva had to get that damned gold after failing at sidney ... i always thought that tchachina was overall better than kabaeva ,with a lot of more technique and apparatus work

Beti Ona I like Kabaeva because she revolutionised this sport. She changed the game. Before her, the elements were not that difficult, dare I say basic. She dared to take risks first. She’s like the Nadia Comaneci to rhythmic gymnastics. For that I respect her greatly.
Beti Ona Dina is fantastic and I like Arina too. I even think she deserved the medal at the world championships over her sister in 2019 but she made some errors in her final routine. Heavy landing at the end for example. Not one comment has mentioned the twins and I’m surprised. Dina has accomplished more than Rita in the last three years tbh.
@@leval1000 In my opinion, the sport was finally interesting when Kanaeva arrived, I am not a fan of the sport before her.
Many do not seem to like Dina, they prefer Mamun, many people identify more with the second places than with the champions. Also, the Over the limit documentary has favored Mamun, that's why she has so many fans, and because she won in Rio when she was not a favorite and her father was about to die.
I like Arina better but Dina is better, although I think Dina gets high scores and Arina sometimes doesn't get justice.

In a personal level i still see Alina as the greatest there ever was, but honestly KaNaeva and KaBaeva should be both n#1, because both were equally importante to this sport, even if Alinka didn't have Genia's technique, even if Genia didn't have Alina's magnetic charm. But yeah, it's Viner. LOL Mamun is not comparable with Yana, let alone Kanaeva. Whatever, welcome to Vinerstan. I'm glad to see that they remember Lobach and Kostina, but (no surprises) upset with the absence of Panova, Timoshenko, Bessonova... Who were, despite anything, huge names of RG in their own right. I'm still hoping to see the rise of a gymnast who'd have KaBaeva's breathe of life, energy, beauty, charisma, joy!

Yes. But it could also be that they give a whole lot more importance to one olympic gold than all the rest (to put Barsukova ahead of Tchachina is kinda odd). It could also be that Irina prefers the more artistic gymnasts better than the too technical ones - Rita is objectively more expressive and dinamic than Yana.

Once someone draw an interesting comparison between Rita and Yana and ballerinas Natalia Osipova and Svetlana Zakharova: While Rita Mamun and Osipova have a concrete, direct, intentional/planned artistic approach (big faces, explosive movement, etc), Kudryavtseva and Zakharova have a delicate, subjective, musical, body expression-based way of relating their feelings to music, to a story. However, i must say that 1) Yana rarely adapted herself to different/non-classical music that was presented to her, rarely enjoyed herself; she said her Rio ribbon was actually the first time she enjoyed herself in a competition carpet! And 2) Rita is amazingly versatile (look at her music selections) and if you think a smile is all she can show, check her ball routine in Rio. For lines and beautiful movement, i'll take Yana any time of the day.
As a dancer, I can say you that Yana has better leg lines and she is globally cleaner than Rita, but Rita has incredibly soft and dynamic arm movements that no one has ever had in RG even Kanaeva (who was colder than ice anyway).
P.S. You have to watch the Rio final again: Rita's ribbon routine was a dramatic one and she never smiled.
Yana before Mamun??Yana and Kanaeva must be in the first place.Not Mamun.Margarita won only a competition.This doesn't mean that she's better than Yana,who in my opinion is the best gymnast in history.

Kabaeva was such a messy Circus :( She made me give up watching the RG. Just after she stepped out, I little by little Return to this beautiful sport. Kudryavtseva though, is a poetry in motion, supreme, unique.

Winning one big competition doesnt mean you are winner. what yana did, winning one after one after one, that is hard, and I totalky believe Yana could have won olympics. She is 3 aa champion, rita hasnt won any aa world champion titles. So thats why I would put Yana after Kabaeva and Evgenia.

No way mamun is better than yana..... Yanas figures are ALWAYS perfect, soft, liquid and absolutely plastic
mamun does everything with too much effort... Her figures are not clean, her feet always look lost and she always seems to be worried during her routines... What does save her is that she is very fast, has high jumps and the way she uses the props is very original... But it doesnt change the quality of her movements...
