I'd wager that you were the victim of a spoofing attack. Depending on the effort of the attacker, there may have been very few, if any clues for you to know if the "UA-cam" you were trying to access was the real site. I suspect it was not, and in the 6 months since you last tried, something changed to break their exploit (software updates, computer change, the attacker abandoned the exploit, their spoof site got taken down, etc etc). Sorry you had a bad experience, glad you're back!

Shortly thereafter I got a warning about posting such comments and that I could lose my channel. I will never comment on a CNN video again, regardless of how biased their reporting is. YT is not safe for some opinions and thoughts.
I'd say you have had a cyber attack rather than a youtube ID problem. The request for 20 random email addresses is the giveaway. UA-cam would have asked for your account address and your backup address and / or Ph number. Now your back into the account change the password mate. Cheers Eric
May be it's not your case but there are a lot of scamers trying to get access to channels using false e-mails, they take over the channel to advertise false products and bitcoin related scams.

I do not know if that was the case I am glad to be back. I notice that a lot of bigger youtubers are complaining that their views are down a lot, youtube does everything to piss people off.

They play the identity politics big time and will do everything in their power to prevent conservatives from gaining popularity. The only reason I stick around is so one day I can sue their asses off!
Aside from a better overall user experience, what you experienced is another reason for using a Apple products instead of Windows and Android. The security on Windows and Android devices are just horrible. To properly secure your system requires expertise. It looks like a hacker spoofed UA-cam and tried to shake you down for your credentials. They probably gave up after a while.
