OH MY GOODNESS!! People thought a show about four elderly women would NEVER take off! Well this show not only took off it blew every galaxy into BITS!!! It won award after award, was on for years and years and every single show was ABSOLUTELY FILLED WITH HILARITY!! You laugh nonstop through every single episode!! I'm 54 and know people in their early 20's who absolutely LOVE IT!! GREAT REACTION - THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!!
Get the Golden Girls on DVD, every single episode is excellent. It was brutally funny as well as being a very edgy show because it dealt with a lot of important topics: AIDS, drug addiction, homelessness, Alzheimer’s disease, cross dressing men, homosexuality, gay marriage, the problems with doctors and the American medical system, and much more. All of the 4 main stars of the show won best actress awards, the show also won many awards for its writing.
The thing with the names is called, "The Name Game". Many of us sang it as kids. The tall woman is Bea Arthur. She was a marine during WWII. She began in her own show as Maude a neighbor of the Bunkers. All in the Family had two spin-off shows: Maude & The Jeffersons. Both had been neighbors with the Bunkers. 70s comedy gold in all 3 shows.
Hilarious sitcom. All have passed away. Betty White aka ROSE died last year just before her 100 birthday. You must go and watch from the beginning and see how they all came to live together. RIP LADIES
The "Golden Girls " were great loved the show. Hollywood tend to put older femal actress to rest when they reach a certain age. So it was wonderful to see these beautiful older actress in a sitcom. I live in Miami and the show was based on the ladies living there. They represented the Golden ladies from the city well.
@4:32: The silly song Rose is singing is a reference to pop hit from 1965 called the Name Game. It was already more than 20 years old when this episode aired!
My absolute FAVE of all time! I watch it practically every day- I miss those ladies! RIP Bea, Rue, Betty, and Estelle. They broke the mold when they made GG. 💗💗
Classic sitcom!! Great writing, great actors!! It's 4 women who are roommates, living in Miami. Blanche (the southern lady), & Rose from Minnesota both lost their husbands. Dorothy, the tall one is divorced and the short lady is her Mother. This was a HUGE hit in the 80's. The reruns are still shown on Hallmark channel. More Golden Girls please!!
Years before "The Golden Girls" Bea Arthur starred in a comedy called "Maude" and Rue McClanahan was another member of the cast, so they worked together on a TV series well before "The Golden Girls". In an episode of "All In The Family" Maude was first introduced as a relative that came to help the family when they all had the flu. In the TV series "Maude" then went on to introduce "Florida Evans" (Esther Rolle) that then led to the TV series "Good Times".
What a funny classic show! The Golden Girls ran from 85-92. It was made up of a great group of 4 talented ladies. Sadly none of them are alive anymore. We lost Betty White at the end of 2021. Great we have this sitcom to carry on their legacy. Interesting that Estelle Getty who played Dorothy's mother Sophia was the youngest member of the group.
The Golden Girls is considered the most treasured sitcom because of these 4 talented Ladies. It is still aired on TV 35yrs after it's first introduction. They could say and do things and get away with it, that younger generations couldn't touch. 4 old Broads just acting natural. And they said it wouldn't last. LOL!! Thank you Ladies for years of laughter. 🤎🌹🤎🌹🤎🌹🤎🌹
ANOTHER very FUNNY show you should check out is "MAUDE" which was one of the spin-offs from "ALL IN THE FAMILY." BEA ARTHUR who plays DOROTHY in THE GOLDEN GIRLS, was the one who played MAUDE in the "Maude" series. SHE was fabulous, they ALL were.
My Grandmother, for a lack of a better word was special. Bless her sweet little heart, she was not very bright. We always said the Rose character had to be based on her. She was silly and crazy in the most delightful way.
Seriously, man?? This is among the funniest shows in the history of TV. Glad you found out about it!! Hope you love it. Adding this reaction to my playlist.
Golden Girls is a absolute FAVORITE of all time, it doesn't get any better than these 4 ladies. There will never be another show that comes close LOL I still watch it on streaming apps! After Golden Girls they done another show with these ladies called Golden Palace...
Golden Palace was funny too!! Haven't watched all the episodes, but since you mentioned them here, I'm going to put it on my to do list. I need a good laugh these days. If the world laughed a lot more, wars would happen a lot less!!
Probably my favorite show of all time! There are 2 or 3 episodes where "Blanche" mentions Chattanooga, TN..... that's where's I'm from & the episodes are hilarious! 🤣🤣🥰🥰
Using your last name on your channel I can explain the clip with Rose singing Dorothy. There was a song where you could take anyone's name and replace or add the first letter with B and then F and then M. Such as "Adogg Adogg Bo Baydogg banana fana fo Faydogg Fe fi mo Maydogg.........Adogg.".....LMAO It was a fun song to pass the time on the road, especially when in the middle of nowhere with no radio stations and we didn't have cellphones or portable DVD players back then. It was singing songs and asking two favorite phrases. "Are we there yet?" and "How much farther until the next town." I know it was SO fun for our parents in the 70s and 80s......LMAO
The lady playing Dorothy had a show in the 70's called Maude. Maude was first introduced on All In The Family as a cousin to Edith. She and Archie hated each other.
After my Grandpa died I went to visit with my Grandma once a week. Every week we watch The Golden Girls. We laughed together. I miss my grandma now that she’s gone, but I remember the laughter that we had while watching The Golden Girls. My wife and I are now in our 50s and we laugh at the re-runs of The Golden Girls.
Most younger people weren't into a sitcom about 4 "old ladies", they weren't the targeted audience. But watching now, as I am in my mid 60's, I can really appreciate the sophisticated humor. Each lady had her own brand of humor. Betty White is much more than a ditz from Minnesota, and I've always loved Bea Arthur's sarcastic wit. Estelle's character has such snappy comebacks, and Rue reminds us even in our 60's, sex and sensuality isn't over.
If you want to see the one something really groovy do the one where Rose is dancing they did a dance contest you will trip right out of your chair😂😂😂😂😂
Oh wow..I do feel old. In the 60's when I was in Jr High School ( middle school), there was a very popular song out called "The Name Game" we loved it ! At P.E. while dressing out in the girl's locker room we would all be singing it for fun. You can apply it to anyone's name
Me and my Gram would stay up late and watch this show on the bedroom TV together when I was younger. I’ve missed her a lot today so I’m glad to enjoy this vid w you
I say we have a 24/7 all GOLDEN GIRLS CHANNEL- I would SOOO SUBSCRIBE TO THAT!!! And then LIVE in front of my TV with a refrigerator full of cheesecake and my coffee cup always full!!
So I grew up with g@y parents in the LGBTQ+ community and the golden girls are absolute icons for the g@ys. Like as a kid when my “uncles” would babysit they’d show me golden girls episodes while generally spoiling me. Also Dolly Parton is another old school icon. Like back in the day their weren’t many openly g@y celebrities so when a straight, cis one was open and kind to the community they’d be embraced with a dedication that rivals any of todays standoms. But anyways this is so nostalgic for me and I don’t tend towards nostalgia.
This is truly TV Gold. Highly recommend you watch all the seasons of The Golden Girls. It’s best If you can get the original dvd box set. From my understanding some of the streaming services are censoring this show. Thank you 😁👍🏽👏🏽
For context, yes places used to encourage anonymous names for files for HIV tests because you could lose your job if it was found out you had it. Remember, this eposide was 1990
HEY YALL CHECK OUT MY WIFE REACTION TO THIS ua-cam.com/video/wZCWFnyPeYM/v-deo.html
Thank you for this!
Favorite sitcom of all time! RIP Estelle, Rue, Bea and Betty. There will never be anything quite like it again!
I agree. It's the greatest
I love The Golden Girls also! I've been a fan of that old TV show since I was like 12 years old. I'm 27 and I still love that show to this day.
OH MY GOODNESS!! People thought a show about four elderly women would NEVER take off! Well this show not only took off it blew every galaxy into BITS!!! I watched it with my mom when I was a young woman and I loved it!
Anything with Betty White is great. The old saying "They don't make them like that anymore " is so true.
For all animal lovers like me out there, Fernando was a stuffed animal, the ear Blanche was holding up was from a toy.
LETS GET 1,000 LIKES ON THIS VIDEO!! I KNOW WE CAN DO IT!!!!!
There’s a compilation of Dorothy’s sarcastic moments. Classic Golden Girls!!!!!
I LOVE that compilation! Dorothy was the best at zinging barbs!

Betty White was definitely one of the funniest women to ever live. Rest in peace.
@4:32: The silly song Rose is singing is a reference to pop hit from 1965 called the Name Game. It was already more than 20 years old when this episode aired!
Golden Girls is a great show! Definitely worth watching if you never have, it's a classic!
Dorothy ( Bea Arthur) was a Marine
I was going to mention that and I believe she was at least 6'02".
At 4:31 Rose was playing 'The Name Game' from Shirley Ellis' 1964 song. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/5MJLi5_dyn0/v-deo.html

So cool to know that!! I watched these shows!! I was pretty little, but remember most pretty well - 54 years young here! Thanks for sharing!!

Those girls roasted each bad, but we’re there to support each other when things got tough.

My favorite! I watched with my grandma during the original run. You GOTTA do Sophia's most savage moments
Had to click on this because I happen to love the Golden Girls; I'm wearing my GG pajama pants right now. Stay Golden!
Seriously, man?? This is among the funniest shows in the history of TV. Glad you found out about it!! Hope you love it. Adding this reaction to my playlist.
These ladies were absolutely brilliant in their comedic timing. This show left an indelible mark on the history of sitcoms.

You could react to whole episodes and I’d be happy 😂 It would be a good one for you and your wife to watch from beginning to end
LOVED these ladies and this show so much !!!!
Bea Arthur was a Marine before acting. I love her personality so much, but I'm definitely a Sophia. 😂😂🤪
LOVE "The Golden Girls"! One of if not the best sitcom of all time.
Hahaha all the names is from a song called the Name Game in the 60’s. This is a great series, very funny.
Estelle Getty was my favorite she would be my grandmother
Probably my favorite show of all time! There are 2 or 3 episodes where "Blanche" mentions Chattanooga, TN..... that's where's I'm from & the episodes are hilarious! 🤣🤣🥰🥰
Yes, you must watch full episodes. These snippets do not do it justice.
That show is HILARIOUS!!!!
They were hilarious. Me and my friends we call each other the Golden Girls

They were very refreshing characters! Older women who still had an appetite for life. I’ve always loved this show.
I’d love to see you review more of their clips. They are so funny. Talk about laughing out loud! They don’t write comedy like that anymore..
My favorite scenes of the show was when Sophia, did her picture it sayings, and when she and her sister were insulting each other
i grew up on golden girls and it will always be in my TBW list
Fernando was a teddy bear. The Golden Girls were the funniest sitcoms I've ever watched.
One of my favorite shows

You really should watch a full episodes these clips are funny, but they’re funnier when you know the back stories.
At 4:35, Rose was trying to sing The Name Game by Shirley Ellis. It was waaaay before your time.

The Golden girls was a great show, also it demonstrates what it is to get Boulder in the need for relationships and friends
The first time I ever heard someone call someone else a bitch on TV was on The Golden Girls.
Oh wow..I do feel old. In the 60's when I was in Jr High School ( middle school), there was a very popular song out called "The Name Game" we loved it ! At P.E. while dressing out in the girl's locker room we would all be singing it for fun. You can apply it to anyone's name
This was fun to watch. Glad you loved it!!
The name thing that Rose was doing was a thing we did in the 80s with people's names
This is one of the best comedies ever.
Bea Arthur was 5'10". Add a pair of heels and she's 6".
It'd definitely be worth your time to watch Golden Girls. It's the best sitcom of all time IMHO.
My favorite show of the 80’s and I still watch reruns on Hulu; it’s like an emotional support blanket 😂

The episode in which they have an Elvis fan group meeting, the Hunka Hunka burning love club, is my #1 favorite and I’ve seen them all.
