What can I catch in This ABANDONED Fishing Lake? 😯

- I get a rare opportunity to fish a private farm lake, but can I catch one of the MONSTER fish that live here? Until recently this lake used to be a trout fishery, so the predators have been fattened up for their whole lives. We fish both from the bank and from a boat for a whole day to see what we could catch! I was using my trusty selection of headbanger lures which i'm absolutely loving at the moment. Now it's pike fishing season i'm going to be doing plenty of lure fishing this winter and I couldn't be more excited for it! Remember, you can also get 10% off the travel pike fishing rod i was using, simply enter discount code AFUK10 at checkout (riggedandready...!

Thanks for watching as always, and hopefully i'll see you here for the next video!
Huge thanks to Simon and Dexter for taking me out, really appreciate it! Simon wanted me to share this video with those of you were interested, he and his friend often go bass fishing and occasionally make a youtube video together: • 5 lovely bass on the J...
I have just gone fishing in lake Coniston and bought a rigged and ready fish rig max and the guy how owned the shop says he knows you. You are a great guy and a big inspiration
Lake Coniston...?
Coniston water the lake there
Did you catch anything? And yeah I know Nathan he's even featured in a video on the channel before. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the kind words!
Why did the fishery shut down, @@adventurefishinguk ?
@@adventurefishinguk yeah I caught a little pike, only 2.6 pounds but he put up a fight wriggling in and around the weeds and 3 little perch. My name is also George and I have learned to lure fish from your channel and I hope that one day I can go fishing with you.👍
Glad you enjoyed your day lads, Life jackets a must though for 3 men in a tin bath .
😂 A very sturdy tin bath!
I really like some of the more unusual footage like a nosey in that old fishing club hut! And love any Alfie footage ❤
It was great fun having a nosey round in there... and yes i love an Alfie cameo too!
Nice guys that have invited you there 💪
I know, very lucky indeed!
Hello George, recently purchased the outfit you are using from rigged and ready, what strength braid would you use if fishing for pike from little Jack's upto 15 lb range.
If you're lure fishing i'd say about 33lb unless it's very snaggy then 44. If you're deadbaiting i'd go for 66. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Looks like there might be some nice carp in there
Yeah it wouldn't surprise me!
There are two lakes around my north oxfordshire village that are no longer fished. One carp and one trout, but swimmers say the water tastes salty. The carp lake is connected by pipe to a stream which used to have a lot of trout in but very few now. It is abstracted by Thames Water. Something is getting into it all from the farm. So much is being ruined. I saw a dead trout in the lake. A few years ago a 30lb carp was caught in the other lake , but no longer.
That's a shame, unfortunately things like that are happening all too often
Just got the rigged and ready predator rod, and I can’t wait to get on to the Leeds and Liverpool canal with it.
I'm sure you'll love it. You'll have to let me know how you get on!
@@adventurefishinguk I’ll let you know bud
Great vlog and really nice venue 👍
Thank you, I can’t wait to get down there again 👍
Pike were awesome looking. They great sport fish along with muskies here in the US. Both are great eating fish too
Pike are really cool aren't they. Shame we don't have musky over here i've heard they grow huge! We don't really eat pike over here. They're too prized by anglers, we're quite a small island with a big population so it's not sustainable
@@adventurefishinguk yes Muskies grow very
Large. A common practice is to use live bait for them like ducklings. They are commonly 40+ inches and 40-45 pounds and fight like crazy. I had one chase a bluegill up on the bank out of the water trying to get it. Possible new state record in PA of 57 inches and 54 pounds. If you ever get a chance to eat some they are very good. I heard there are big ones up in the Scandinavian countries but they don’t eat them much either but that is because they eat more salt water fish. Good luck keep Filming.
Well in bro! 2 beautiful pike you have there. I find it's never easy to fish big waters specially without electronics to scan the bottom. It's basically casting blind and hope for the best 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Not necessarily; you can do thinks like target lily beds, drop-off, around the edges of islands.
All likely spots for patrolling predators...
Thanks mate! Yeah some electronics would have definitely helped. Hopefully i'll be back again after the bigger ones!
@AdventureFishingUK I hope you manage to go back in the future bro🤜🏼🤛🏼 yeah I was just saying that because when I go to big waters I always struggle too. I target the obvious areas but then when I'm on the boat on open water without electronics I feel like I'm just casting blind because the fish can be literally anywhere😅 I find it a bit overwhelming sometimes because I'm more used to fish rivers, streams, canals, small lakes and that compared to for example the pitsford reservoir (the biggest water I've went fishing imo) it's just tiny😂 Wish you all the best bro 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Amazing lad another great location and good fishing for sure 👌🏼🎣🎣
Thanks mate, appreciate it!
Looks like a great adventure you had out there. Shame you never got amoungst the bigger ones but thats fishing.
Hopefully the bigger ones will make an appearance next time if i'm lucky enough to fish there again!
Great video as always buddy nice pike
Thanks mate, this trip was great fun
Ha! Optimistically prepared with a GIANT net. Off topic, what are those bamboo like plants you walked through to reach the water?
Trust me, some of the fish in there would only just about fit in there! And i'm not actually sure on the plants, hopefully someone else comments and helps with that
True bullrush? 🤔
Great video! Your videos have made me get myself a rod and crankbait to see if i can go catch a pike. Been about 5 times and no luck.
I'm using just a savage gear crankbait on my line. do i need to add weights etc?? I aint got a clue
That sounds fine, are you using a wire trace! Make sure you do. Location is veyr important, stay on the move and try new places!
Looks like a nice lake, great job with those fish.
Thanks mate, it was amazing!
Looking to buy a rigged and ready predator rod, am going to get a reel with it but what line would you recommend?
The rigged and ready 33lb braid is a perfect fit 👍 so is their RR3000 reel. Dont forget to use code AFUK10 to get 10% off
Great video George, makes me wonder how many other fisheries have been abandoned like this one,not many places allow lure fishing but it has become really popular,I would pay to fish these places 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks mate! There must be loads of forgotten about places just waiting to be discovered. It's a shame this one is the other side of the country to me i'd love to fish it a few more times and discover what's in there!
Smashing George, your a lucky boy😂😂😂😂
Thanks mate, I certainly am!
Great vid again 💯👍👏👏👏
Thanks for watching!
Where is this lake, would love to have a go at zander fishing
There are no zander in here 👍
@@adventurefishinguk just realised I commented on the wrong video, was meant to comment on you zander vid. Ops good watch though
Great video mate!
Thanks mate!
Hi! How can I contact you ?
My instagram is georgelambfishing 👍
Five people allowed to fishing for pike can’t go wrong 🇬🇧👍from the old man in Stoke
I know, a great and very unique opportunity! Thanks for watching, from the young (ish) man from lancaster 😂
Get the carp rods out lad 👍
Even if i had some I wouldn't know what to do with them!
@@adventurefishinguk Your an experienced angler mate wouldn't take you long 👍
Haven’t been here for a while let’s see how you’ve been 😝
Thanks for watching!
Ive got a lake near me ! Any one can fish ! Its been totaly destroyed by otters ! The lake is picture perfect! It did hold carp to mid thirties and pike to 20lb ... A masive thanks to those that introduced otters ! I bet this lake has been destroyed by otters
Otters are a huge problem in some lakes. The lakes that don't have them tend to have issues with cormorants. I pity those with both!
@@adventurefishingukI've noticed a massive drop with cormarants on waters ! The ones where catfish have been introduced so there so much less silver fish to eat !! What is so scary is with the ever growing spread off American Crayfish and Otters and cormorants ! Our rivers will be fishless in 20 years ! And I'm sorry but with the amount off legal and illigal catfish in the UK they must be in the rivers
Otters mink eastern Europeans cormorants all are killing lakes.
@@adamroots3429 we said the same years ago too and when swampy and his re tard animal rights mates let all the mink loose that spread all over the UK since the 80s killed water vole populations ground nesting water fowl then decimated fish stocks etc we knew it would get worse and now it's eastern Europeans cormorants otters mink and Afghanistan's Asians eating fish too so from the 90s the we started getting better fishing and now if something is not done there's going to be nothing left unfortunately.
@@adamroots3429 rivers are done in forever !! Any lake that can afford a fence will be syndicate! There will be a point where the EA will admit there needs to be a cull on otters ! The same week they will probably introduce Wolf's and bears back into the wild as they look cuddly 🤔 .
So noisy there. I would prefer going to that sea site where you had been recently 👋
Which place do you mean?
Better luck next time!
Hopefully i get one of the really big ones, I can't complain with two nice fish though, especially the second one!
@@adventurefishinguk Keep trying.
Anyone can fish that lake😂
I’m afraid you’re mistaken!
Wow that's excellent m8 funny and cool way to start a session, are you gonna try that loch with the monster under the jetty you saw and put in one of your other videos when you visited a second time?? That beast needs to be seen in 4k lol. Anyway it's end of river season almost on the isle of man but next year if you fancy coming over I'd be happy to show you my favourites on my local river also can show you some fantastic sea fishing marks as we are never really more than a stones throw from the sea being such a small island. Open offer also my m8 who's a teacher acquired a boat this year so I'm sure I could twist his arm for a few hours in the bay. Open offer bud in on fb and insta.
I'll definitely be trying again to catch that big one mate yeah! What's the freshwater predator fishing like where you fish? Do you catch many specemin pike and perch? Thanks for the offer i may well take you up on that one day!
