I thoroughly enjoyed Forever and a Day and personally think they should use some of it as the plot template for the next Bond film and location of France.
Saved this for after finishing book (Audible). I love Horowitz Bond and this novel is no exception. Ajay is such a wealth of knowledge and has a unique perspective on the literary world. Great video as always. Thank you. Have fun in the Bahamas, sir.
I agree, the promotion has been non-existant. Some reviews in the press but my local Waterstones had zero promotion for it. There were a few copies on a table hidden between a pile of other books. That was it! Very poor.
Just picked this up on the kindle - as I had no idea it had even come out yet! Great interview here with Ajay - he is truly Bond Community royalty! Horowitz is just a sensational writer. His Alex Rider series featuring a 15 year old super spy are some of the best Bond inspired stories ever done and all read like big budget James Bond films with a young contemporary flavor. So he was actually a perfect choice to pick up the Fleming Bond continuation series. His first two novels were some of the best of the non Fleming canon so I’m really looking forward to this one! His stories have been my favorites in the series since The Raymond Benson set of his six that were more film inspired during the Brosnan era - and which I also loved. Horowitz has really somehow captured the Fleming style probably closer than any other writer and his books seem to fit in closest with the official series. Hopefully he has more to come!

Addendum - just finished the book. I think it’s absolutely the best of his three Bond novels! It really feels like a terrific finale to Flemings original run. You could very easily read that run Sprinkling the 3 Horowitz entry’s in there and it would feel pretty seamless. Every Bond fan should pick this up ASAP!
@@johnrigs6540 Yes, Forever...and Trigger Mortis would slot in perfectly to Ian Fleming's collection of Bond novels. Horowitz is superior to the other continuation authors. I've read couple of John Gardener's back in the 80s. Not bad but it was like his Saturday job. It's a shame Anthony Horowitz has stated it's probably his last 😕 😔 Nothing lasts forever, unfortunately.

Great video guys. Just finished the audiobook of 'With A Mind To Kill' and loved it! Rory Kinnear did a fantastic job. Really enjoyed the Anthony Horowitz Bond trilogy; mind you I am a great admirer of all the work of Horowitz (books and screenplays).
Simply the best continuation 007 book- A.Horowitz acknowledged p.263, readers may notice a few other “easter eggs” here and there: - Bond’s debating with Scaramanga in his mind p.104; - Bond remembering previous arch villains he tangled with Mr Big, Dr No; Le Chiffre, Drax p. 108, - Bond’s mentions his secretary , Loelia Ponsonby p.154 - He remembers the Oriental X train travel in the company of a psychotic Smersh Killer p.113 - plan to assassinate the target at the Berlin State Opera classical symphony - (The Living Daylight) p.237 - the spy who came in from the cold border crossing ending- like, last chapter - Bond remembers Tracy & compares Katya p.246 - last page echoes the last page of YOLT….. Bond keeps…..
If you are a le Carré connoisseur, a Deighton devotee, a Fleming fanatic, a Herron hireling or even a Macintyre marauder and like raw noir espionage thrillers, do read Beyond Enkription, the first fact based stand-alone spy novel in The Burlington Files series by Bill Fairclough. Odds on you’ll read it twice if you’ve already devoured Tinker Tailor, The Ipcress File, Slow Horses or The Spy and The Traitor. Just ask George Smiley, Harry Palmer, Jackson Lamb or even Oleg Gordievsky what they thought of Bill Fairclough aka Edward Burlington, the protagonist in The Burlington Files. Mind you, Oleg might refuse to comment. In real life he knew MI6’s Colonel Alan Brooke Pemberton CVO MBE aka Colonel Alan McKenzie (Mac) in The Burlington Files. In real life Alan was MI6’s hapless handler who had to try and control the maverick Fairclough who coincidentally had quite a lot in common with Greville Wynne and has even been called “a posh Harry Palmer”. Bill Fairclough and John le Carré (aka David Cornwell) knew of each other but only long after Cornwell’s MI6 career ended thanks to Kim Philby. Coincidentally, the novelist Graham Greene used to work in MI6 reporting to Philby and Bill Fairclough actually stayed in Hôtel Oloffson during a covert op in Haiti (explained in Beyond Enkription) which was at the heart of Graham Greene’s spy novel The Comedians. Funny it’s such a small world!
Maybe someday. I'd love to have some novels set between Quantum of Solace and Skyfall. I'd even like a spinoff of Mr. White, he's one of my favorite supporting characters from the Craig era.
From Russia With Love, Thunderball...I first read Thunderball as a 13 yr old back in the 1970s. I absolutely loved it. I wasn't too thrilled by Casino Royale decades ago, the card game put me off. But reading it as an older man I appreciated it as an old fashioned spy story with a tragic love affair. The Craig movie was a great up dating of the story. Also Spy Who Loved Me is nothing like the Moore movie - it's told from the point of a woman who has a relationship with Bond. He only appears in last 3 chapters. Both Fleming and Horowitz are brilliant storytellers.
I think Goldfinger would be a good intro book along with Casino as Fleming was very confident by then. OHMSS and YOLT are two I love but best when your established.

I always felt that the Raymond Benson books would have worked better as 'brosnan era' expansion books. I'd have loved to see a few for Craig's era.
