i never understood why people keep english ivy as a houseplant. that thing belongs outdoors, and it looks good there. i used to work at a nursery where we grew english ivy in large quantities and every time i worked with or near them, my skin would get itchy and i'd have to sneeze. so yeah, wouldn't recommend keeping it in an enclosed space, but outdoors it's just fine and it can take frost too

Love this concept and I mostly agree with your S and A tiers. I would add Scindapsus to S though.

I totally forgot about scindapsus! I agree though, definitely s tier

I really like “my fav” and “dislike” videos, this one included. I don’t agree with you very much but I don’t mind at all

The Peace Lily is my least dramatic plant in my collection beside my succulents. Ahahaha. It is so easy to take of!

Non-plant related question, what kind of vlogging gear do you use? Your videos and audio are crisp and the quality is ahhmazing!

I only recently changed cameras but I used the canon eos m50 and I've recently upgraded to the canon eos r. For the audio, I use the rhode mic pro plus and that's it really!

Interesting video. One snake plant was plenty for me until I saw the moonshine sansevieria. I was honestly surprised at how my feelings changed towards these plants after I took a closer look at them. The moonshine is a lighter silvery green and my other one is an almost black green color. I now appreciate their structural appearance and their easy care. I agree with a lot of your choices and I do have an aversion to plants that attract pests like magnets. Those plants I have to admire from afar 😊. Good food for thought in this video! Well done. 👏🌿🥰💚

Very fun video! I actually found that ripple jade grows super quickly in my south facing window but I agree with you on other succulents lol.

Love this one! Pretty exciting to see where you're going to put that plant. So interesting! We all have changing preferences for plants over time and for me it's largely influenced by my experience with it. I've learnt to research the plant before I buy it, after making several costly mistakes. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Great video, and I agree with you on most of your "dislikes" . I felt the same about snake plants, but there are smaller ones that part of their common names are birds nests, and they are really pretty and so easy to care for. Also, I would not buy a fiddle leaf fig again , but they now sell a "Little Fiddle", a compact one which I bought a couple weeks ago at Walmart, and I'm hoping that will do well. Always look forward to new videos from you!

I don’t care for flowering plants, Hoyas don’t bring me joy, neither do succulents, I kill every spider plant 😂

    I agree with you MOSTLY...lol.
    a few changes I'd make personally -
I don't understand the hype around monstera adansonaii. The holes bug me and it makes me feel like I accidentally ripped the leaves.
I also don't like the vines on heart leaf philo varieties, so I'd move that one much further down with putting pothos at the top of the top. The leaves on philodendrons are pretty but the vines make them look leggy, imo.
I'd move calatheas much higher up even though they're finicky- my lemon lime maranta is one of my favorites in my collection. I also love my zz and fiddle bambino. and an African violet is a wishlist plant
And, I'd add the scindapsus pictus varieties into my s tier. They're some of my fastest growing plants i own and my favorites to watch. I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought them. I'm so glad I did.
Oh, I also don't understand the hype around monstera deliciosa. There's only a very brief time in their lifespan where i think they're really cool and beautiful - but once they get super big and the arial roots grow everywhere, my OCD kicks in - LOL

My umbrella tree plant got mealies first, got rid of that, then it got scale... She met the curb on trash day after that... I just can not...

This is a really good video 👍 So much I could comment about and relate to. I do have great luck growing Aloe. I am on my 2nd umbrella plant. My first one died 😔 I think it was to cold upstairs. It grew to the ceiling and I had to cut it. I was at the greenhouse last week and they had a beautiful variegated pothos for $32 in a 2 1/2 inch pot. The young man said it was expensive because of the variegation which I already knew. I would have purchased it if I had the extra $ because I know it will grow for me. I got a fiddle leaf fig last month and just ordered a Ficus Triangularis. Wish me luck. 🤞

There were definitely SO many plants that are common that could’ve been included in this list that weren’t haha. What I actually did was I researched the plants that were commonly included on lists and such if common houseplants but those definitely weren’t comprehensive so some varieties were unfortunately left out

Oh yes definitely! I use it lots for skincare but I just don’t know if I’d want to grow it myself. I think I would prefer to grow it outdoors if I had the space!
