I used to follow Mars Hill and I was all for his fiery preaching, until I recently found out that sometimes (especially when they got really big) he was crafting a whole sermon around church folks, *his* folks, he felt were his personal enemies. So now I take him with a whole passel of salt. If you also used to follow Mars Hill back in the day and were saddened when they disappeared, I highly HIGHLY recommend listening to "The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill". It's about more than Mark and MH
I thank the Lord for putting a burden on Pastor Mark’s heart to uphold a standard of holiness as he confronted something that at bare minimum, was unwise. By no means is Pastor Mark a perfect man but this was honorable. Help us Lord to not bring shame or dishonor to Your Name.

I see that a few people below are clarifying that what Alex was doing was actually a Chinese Pole Sword performance and not a strip dance and implying that Mark was out of line. I will say that regardless of what kind of performance Alex was doing or anyone else all of this theatrics have no business in the church. If they wanted to make a men's conference to empower and included different activities, they should have made it a men's retreat with different activities that are Hands-On for men to be encouraged in their physical strength as well as your spiritual strength. Even with that I would not have recommended this performance by Alex. It's just something about a man being half naked in front of a whole bunch of other men going up and down the pole that just doesn't seem like it would help someone focus on God, but that could just be me. Perhaps I would think differently of all the men didn't have on shirts or something. I mean could the man at least not put on like a tank top? And again I still don't understand why people felt some kind of way about others not wanting this to be in a church. As scripture depicts, ANYONE can have this spirit recognisable by their speech action and body language. All three go together. Very rarely would you see one without the other two components following behind. Google the exact definition of the word. Dictionary and Biblical explanation more or less conclude the same description of the word. I hope I was of some help.... 😉

Matt. 18: 15-17 is the appropriate way to address these misrepresentations of the Kingdom of God if we are truly concerned about the eternal souls of these leaders and everyone they are leading. I don’t think it was too out of order. In the jungle of wherever they do this, tribal men have no clothes on and scale coconut trees with the bare hands and feet. The pole is symbolic of a straight structure and to climb it without any mechanical assistance. That is how I read it visually. Taking the shirt off just shows that you have worked to achieve certain results. No different in some contact sports like martial arts. You even see this in films. It is not like he started dancing suggestively. Sword swallowing is for show and demonstrating discipline. It is not intended to mean anything regarding BJ. Some comments are really out there. Monster trucks is for entertainment along with fire. You see that at many MT shows. Even robot jousting events. It is a guy thing. And it was a men’s conference. I don’t see a lot wrong there. People who served God Jehovah in history in the deserts did things for fun, amusement and to show human capability. It wasn’t all work the herds and growing crops and hunting/gathering. Some Christians talk about you don’t drink and smoke. Yet in the Bible Jesus himself attended a wedding party and his first miracle was turning water into wine. It was also not cheap wine in quality/taste as remarked in the gospel. You don’t become drunks and given over to liquor, but it is not a sin to have wine especially if Jesus performed such a miracle to give out to people for enjoyment. And a wedding feast is all about enjoying an event. We need to stop talking about something just to become hyper critical. Look into things more deeply. That is all I have to say on it for now.

The pole is a prop, like a ribbon or orb in rhythmic gymnastics. To me, non-sexualized pole dancing is not much different that aerialists performing on large fabric sheets, ropes, or trapeze. I enjoy watching their skill.

If the skill was magic, does that fall into the divination/witchcraft category? If the skill is dance, does it fall into the sexual category if seductive moves or attire is present? If the skill is sculpting, does it seem profane if the art is of nude bodies? Just using examples of a fine line between the Holy and Secular. Church leaders are attempting antics to capture attention and the original message of the Gospel is lost. If the events were outside the church, would there be pushback? It's easy to end up participating in idol worship when leaders promote and teach the flock in error. When the world and the church don't see a clear difference, that's a confusing problem.
Anybody who justifies this is not a follower of Christ this why God is pulling his followers out of Church in America. That pastor is lucky to be kicked out he is probably a true chosen one

I believe God wants people to hear the word preached... I'm not sure if God is super concerned about the lures that people use to get them in the seats. I think he's glad you got them there to hear the preached word. He'll handle the rest...just my thoughts...😊❤

I don’t think it was too out of order. In the jungle of wherever they do this, tribal men have no clothes on and scale coconut trees with the bare hands and feet. The pole is symbolic of a straight structure and to climb it without any mechanical assistance. That is how I read it visually. Taking the shirt off just shows that you have worked to achieve certain results. No different in some contact sports like martial arts. You even see this in films. It is not like he started dancing suggestively. Sword swallowing is for show and demonstrating discipline. It is not intended to mean anything regarding BJ. Some comments are really out there. Monster trucks is for entertainment along with fire. You see that at many MT shows. Even robot jousting events. It is a guy thing. And it was a men’s conference. I don’t see a lot wrong there. People who served God Jehovah in history in the deserts did things for fun, amusement and to show human capability. It wasn’t all work the herds and growing crops and hunting/gathering. Some Christians talk about you don’t drink and smoke. Yet in the Bible Jesus himself attended a wedding party and his first miracle was turning water into wine. It was also not cheap wine in quality/taste as remarked in the gospel. You don’t become drunks and given over to liquor, but it is not a sin to have wine especially if Jesus performed such a miracle to give out to people for enjoyment. And a wedding feast is all about enjoying an event. We need to stop talking about something just to become hyper critical. Look into things more deeply. That is all I have to say on it for now.

The pole is a prop, like a ribbon or orb in rhythmic gymnastics. To me, non-sexualized pole dancing is not much different that aerialists performing on large fabric sheets, ropes, or trapeze. I enjoy watching their skill.

@@rochellelove3785 I don't know much about pole dancing, but I think bare skin is necessary for grip on the pole. I would think of it as the uniform of the sport/art, and not necessarily sexual. I agree that it doesn't seem very gospel themed. Perhaps he could have done the routine to a nice Christian song in the background, like praise dancing.
@@hoosieraussis1 I look at all sides, but end up with the end result using discernment. Conclusion: Confusion and division was the end result, not focus on God. If the skill was magic, does that fall into the divination/witchcraft category? If the skill is dance, does it fall into the sexual category if seductive moves or attire is present? If the skill is sculpting, does it seem profane if the art is of nude bodies? Just using examples of a fine line between the Holy and Secular. Church leaders are attempting antics to capture attention and the original message of the Gospel is lost. If the events were outside the church, would there be pushback? It's easy to end up participating in idol worship when leaders promote and teach the flock in error. When the world and the church don't see a clear difference, that's a confusing problem.
Anybody who justifies this is not a follower of Christ this why God is pulling his followers out of Church in America. That pastor is lucky to be kicked out he is probably a true chosen one
