Yep - not to take away from Green Day - who are pretty cool on their own.. but I seriously doubt that 20-30 years from now, you will see crowds for a more contemporary band singing along w/a recorded version of "American Idiot" ... lol
It’s 45 years since this song was released. I can’t for the life of me, imagine any current songs that will have that sort of impact on people in another 45 years time. Bo Rhap will never die, it shouldn’t be allowed to. Freddie was a genius. RIP beautiful man

Most of this crowd is probably under 20. Some of their parents wouldn’t have been born when this song was released and a large portion of the crowd were born at lest 4 or 5 years after Freddie died.
There were more than 65,000 people at the concert, and they sang it perfectly in tune. It must have been an incredible experience to be in that crowd, all joining voices, hearts and souls in tribute to Queen and Freddie. Just stumbled across this when I was looking for the original video. I was at the front of that crowd! It was the best experience I have ever had at a concert! Green Day do open with that at every show they do, however, I have never experienced it the way it was that day. I'm a massive Queen fan as well but was sadly too young to see them live, I do remember watching their epic performance on Live Aid though. Green Day toured the world that year and had Bohemian Rhapsody played to every crowd before they came on stage and every crowd from South America to the Middle East sang the song. Those videos are on UA-cam too.
As Freddie would say "I always win an audience over!" The sheer majesty and power that Queen still have over audiences, 30 years after he left us (to teach the choir on heaven) is mind-blowing
