Around 42 minutes, Skyen starts going off on how if this becomes a class commentary thing he will unleash the yapping, and at that moment I double-checked the run time of the video and started cackling.
When you expect a story reaction but you get a commentary on animation and and design for characters for almost three hours you know your in the right place
i dont know why i find this comment so funny, just imagining someone saying that with full indignation "They STOLE his HAT!" like its the worst thing anyone could have ever done
Something that ought to be included in this is Stolas' complete blindness to the class thing. It was one of the things he completely failed to see as a factor in his relationship with Blitzø and you see it here again, except in the best way possibly; Stolas fully thought he would die. He fully thought the law was equal to him and Blitzø and he went in there thinking he'd be putting his own head on the block.
I love how Striker claims to hate royals but won't hesitate working with them if it means getting rid of Blitz, he is not beating the "he's just mad he isn't at the top of the hirearchy" allegations, I love him. ALSO HE HAS A SCAR NOW! SKYEN YOU FORGOT TO POINT OUT THE SCAR!!
There could also be the "The noble class has given me what i needed to be their lapdog, and while I would gladly betray if given the chance, the fact that they keep me afloat means I never feel like I'm in a good enough position to call anything a chance, effectively separating me from the people" angle. He could be selfish, he could be biding his time, or he could just be trapped. (Or maybe all 3 who knows) Yayyyy politics
Yall think Stryker went thru with the trial because immunity meant he could afford to take his horse to the vet? Court costs ain't cheap. Yes yes I know he likely super did it because he wanted Blitzo gone ( Which makes Blitz being a new class hero DELICIOUS when it comes to karma ) I could just totally see Blitz going "..........okay that was still fucked up but fair" if it was for Bombproof's benefit
That cheek kiss caught me by surprise and I’m glad Stolas was asleep for it. Obviously these two broken bois are endgame but I dunno if I want them to immediately be in a relationship when he wakes up in the morning. Theatrical court confessions aside, they left things in a weird place with both of them, and they need to do a LOT of communication. At the very least, Blitzø never quite managed to get the apology out during the Halloween party.
Yeah, I had hoped that they'd get a little more time apart to grow and settle in their individual developments, but we'll see what happens. Knowing how absolutely absurdly bad they both are at communicating (in wildly different but equally intense ways) I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to fumble the relationship ball for another season even while living as roommates.
I am all of a sudden realizing that if they do really decide to go deep into and explore the class inequality theme with this show, the company being called I.M.P. gains so much more meaning than just a pun
Stolas being forced to break Octavia's heart by not being able to be there for her anymore just... It's what so totally ruins him. She's the only thing he was worried about with the punishment. D:
45:54 SO! About who did the spinny shot: According to what I could find on socials, Aven Heard, one of the Lead Animators at Spindlehorse, did the Rough Animation for that amazing Stolas turn and Sidney Gale did the Clean Up Animation and Color!
Funfact: Aven also animated the spin with Stolas and the moon in Look My Way, the spin with the kiss at the end of Crooked and Bee twirling in the air during Cotton Candy. They're really good at spinning characters!
Ikr! Immediately after I saw that the episode was up I was so excited to see if Father Skyen posted the analysis (I don't know how to call it) since I saw the ep kind of late.
The thing with Striker is that he believes himself to be better than other imps. He has no interest in uplifting his people, he just want to uplift himself. He saw Blitz as an equal when they met because he saw he had the ambition, craftiness, and dedication to rise above his station and make a place for himself in this world, start IMP and work for himself. Ironically, he sees Blitz, or at least saw him at some point, as better than other imps as well. But Blitz doesn’t see himself as better than other imps. He sees himself as just any other imp, it’s just that he looks around at the way his people get treated, and he believes that they *all* deserve better. He’s not actively fighting for imp and hellhound rights or anything, but he’s passively fighting the system by carving a place for himself and his family, uplifting them alongside him. He kind of accidentally stumbled into (or was dragged into, more like) the position of class hero. If this becomes that kind of story that’s going to be so freaking interesting.
@@3BSkyenFinally it is confirmed that of the seven deadly sins, only Lucifer is originally a fallen "golden" angel. Lucifer (Fallen Angel of Pride), Satan (Devil of Wrath), Leviathan (Dragon of Envy), Asmodeus (Nephil of Lust), Mammon (Demon of Greed), Belphegor (Demon of Sloth), Beelzebub (Fallen Angel of Gluttony) Satan concludes the song by stating he is the original mastermind, ruling Hell before the "golden angel"'s fall. Satan is revealed as being the leader of the Sins that rule over the hellborn kind, having created imp-kind and also being the judge to those that break Hell's laws, making him second to Lucifer and his family in the hierarchy of Hell. Satan claims in his part of the song that he reigned over Hell prior to Lucifer's exile from Heaven. Though with Lucifer's actions being the event that spawned the creation of Hell, it's unclear just how accurate this claim is. Due to Lucifer being an absent leader and acting more like a figurehead, Lilith being away from Hell for years, and Charlie being more focused in helping sinners make it to Heaven, Satan has taken over of all the affairs of Hell as a stand-in ruler.
I'm fully convinced that Satan was just in his "giant demon" form the whole time. I'm almost completely sure that the other sins could also become that large or of comparable size if they chose. I'm guessing that for Satan's "normal demon" form his horns would be a little smaller
@@happypepper9326 I am unsure if its a matter of demon strenght or just mere need to flex it. All the deadly sins are considered equal in power besides pride, I genuinely believe they are all in the same power level. The reason why they are all obeying Satan is because Satan is the one responsible for demon law, its his area of expertice, I imagine if it was an issue of health they would all bow heads to Belphegor.
He is always in beast mode, in my opinion. Even when he was angry, he didn't go through a change like we've seen the others do. He is always in angry big mode, fitting for the Wrath sin.
He probably just made his base form bigger. In the mid-season episode, Ozzie shrunk his base form to fit through the door of Fizz's dressing room. So, they all are probably able to change their size.
Regarding the eyes on everything, Vivzie said that when a sinner or a demon dies, their soul/energy doesn't leave hell. They become part of hell, hence the eyes. Like any DM would say: "It wasn't part of the world building before, but it sure is now!"
The way I interpreted Stella's smirk when she took Octavia into her arms was "This is it. This is my prize. Taking THIS GIRL for my own will, above absolutely _all else,_ hurt Stolas more deeply than anything else I could possibly do." Ergo, I'm ready to hate her _deeply._
Striker has emphasized multiple times that he sees himself as above the normal imps. Like Imp royalty. And he's salty that the big wigs don't recognize that. This is different from Bliz who want to show that the normal Imp is more than the higher up see. So their actions look similar but the motivations are very different.
42:23 "Listen Helluva Boss, I love you but if you're actually going here, if you're actually gonna deal with the class thing. You have no idea how long I'm gonna sit here blabbing on. " Pauses and looks at the time line.... OH GOD IT'S A 3 HOUR VIDEO!
2:36:22 the idea that Stella just wants to raise Octavia to survive is probably the most interesting version I've heard so far! I think she obviously doesn't actually love her, but the idea that she knows Via has to get tougher and Stolas is making her soft is an enticing take.
So basically. Stolas lost everything. While blitzø won EVERYTHING (biggest W being called dad) so While blitzø is living his best life. Stolas is at its very worse. And possibly it might cause conflict between the two
I think Leviathan's white face looks into mammon 'cause she is litteraly two faced, one is the nice looking facade and the other is the true emotions. (or maybe i'm reading too much into it)
I think you're right on it, we can only guess what's the honest and the liar in each situation, but since Mammon is an unlikeable pos we all know the humanoid face was trying to be nice about it and not the real feeling 😂
I think it’s to show the two types of envy. One side of where you look up to a person and enter people pleaser mode and the other where you dislike the people who have what you wish you had.
Skyen summarizing the entire plot and emotional development of this episode in the first 3 minutes of this video without having seen it while also somehow finding the time to plug his merchandise store, i’m impressed!
He is a peacock and I think it suits his personality. Knew someone who kept peacocks as pets and their rooster kept escaping and going over to the neighbors almost half a mile away. They figured out that they had basement windows and the vain bastard was only going there to look at his own reflection! Like, he had 3 hens at home! But nooo, he needed to bask in his own beauty so bad that he risked leaving his home just for a glance. They fixed it by painting a pane of glass and lean it against a barn wall so he could look at himself at home. Andrealphus channels that level of narcissism perfectly, I think 😆
22:34 yep and if you look at the end of the Ozzie's episode when Blitz is scrolling on his phone there's a Satan workout app. In fact each of the sins have an app, it seems. Leviathan (envy) has what looks like a tiktok-type thing? Bee's seems to be like an uber eats, Mammon's is a banking app, etc
Can't help but think Stella covets Octavia for the simple reason that she's important in Stolas's eyes. She is, as you said at the beginning of the video, a child. Petty, emotive, quick to anger. Getting back to Stolas is the first objective. I doubt she loves her daughter, as she is never pictured as happy, and clearly states that she's glad she poped an egg quickly early in the show.
Vivzie has publicly said that she wants a crossover, but there are legal issues with Amazon. Thus no Luci...yet. Also, there is one more ep for this season, and its a rough one.
@@ilikespaghetti4458 Ngl, I was so prepared for Sinsmas to be the episode with new sins reveal (esp. Satan) just because of the name. Now I'm half-tempted to comb through the trailer for this part of the season just to see what the heck we have left in there that could indicate what's gonna happen.
@@helenanilsson5666 My bet is that Sinsmas will actually be a Christmas themed episode where we'll get Stolas trying to reconcile with Octavia and spend the holiday with her even though he's stripped of his power, with Andrealphus attacking them in response. We're missing the shot in the trailer where Octavia's holding a purple flame up alone in the dark, and we're missing Blitzø protecting Stolas from what looks to be an ice attack in the frozen version of Stolas' palace. In addition, i forgot where but somewhere in season 2, Octavia is supposed to have a song, and next episode is the last of this season.
Loose threads: Stolas has survived, but misses his daughter. Octavia has reason to believe her father is dead, and her guardians will no doubt encourage that belief. But Valleho realizes some injustice has occoured, is explicitly kindhearted, AND has an aspect of finding lost objects. Blitz has connections to the court of two sins, through Loona and Tex, and through Fizzaroli, should Stolas try to reach out, and those connections work in reverse, should Val want to reach out to Stolas or Blitz. Also, having secured Stolas's power for the next 100 years, Andy needs to kill confirm to assure his power in perpetuity. Also, forshadowing- "You hire ME? I hope I'm qualified!" "Without my grimoire, my powers are just a tad limited in the human world" And I would take it as a personal validation if the "Carmine crafted blessing tipped rifle" that vanished in IMP's posession after Harvest Moon ended up in Stolas's hands.
2:57:00 Fuck man, that's true I lost someone I loved very dearly but they didn't love themselves and it's sweet to see love conquering all in fiction, it takes me to another world where love is enough and it helps
I think stolas will find his place eventually, but I'm interested in the fact that in the previous episode blitz got rid of about 10 to 15% of his baggage and it's already drastically positively affecting his life. Dude took that tiny bit of progress and ran with it. Good for him.
Before going into the lore behind the Vassago from demonological lore, a fun fact about his design: His design first appeared way back in the Hazbin Hotel pilot among the Overlords when Vaggie was saying the line "Many have speculated what unimaginable forces enabled him to rival our world's most ancient and destructive evils". Speaking of design: The most common depiction of him I've seen is a humanoid riding a crocodile. But since he isn't depicted in the Ars Goetia and the Goetia demons are mostly birds, I think his design in the show makes sense. Speaking of "Ars Goetia": He is listed in both the Liber Officiorum Spirituum and, of course, the Ars Goetia itself: In the Liber, he is named "Usagoo". Here, he appears as an angel who can make women fall in love with you and reveal hidden treasure. He commands only 20 legions in this version. In the Ars Goetia, meanwhile, he is the third spirit and the first of the seven Princes of Hell (Stolas is listed as the 5th btw) said to be of a good nature and the same nature as Agares, the second spirit who is depicted as an old man riding a crocodile. Vassago is said to rule 26 legions of demons and is able to find lost objects as well as tell wizards the past and future. He is said to be the opposing force to the angel Sitael.
Just to clarify: In the Lesser Key Of Solomon, where Vassago is the third demon mentioned, demons are listed not by power but by order in which Solomon summoned them. Is why Paimon isnt the first demon mentioned despite being the most powerful of the Kings and Lucifer's right hand.
@@KingsBard I think it's like a pirate's parrot, since finding treasure seems to be his most constant trait. Could also be why he's hispanic if he's from the Caribbean.
The first time we see Stella and Octavia interact and it's just manipulation. That says a lot about their realtionship. Stella reminds me of Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones. They love their children as extensions of themselves.
Here's a bit of background on the two Sins with no lines: In demonology, Levy, aka Leviathan, is mostly described as a giant sea serpent or another sea monster such as a whale or a giant crocodile. He/She/It (I've literally seen all pronouns being used for Leviathan about the same amount) is sometimes paired up with Behemoth, a giant land monster, and Ziz, a giant air monster. In those depictions, like in this show, Leviathan is usually female (or at least she appears female; we'll have to wait and see for the exact pronouns). Originally considered the embodiment of chaos, she has been the go-to Sin of Envy since the 13th Century (at least for Christians). In the Dictionnaire Infernal, she is also a member of the Order of the Fly, a group of high ranking demons hand-picked by Beelzebub to help him run Hell. Here, she is a he and the Minister of the Office with the positions of Grand Admiral of Hell and Knight of the Fly. Lastly, she is often compared with giant serpents and monsters from other mythologies like Jörmungandr from Norse Mythology, Tiamat from Mesopotamien Mythology or Vrtra from Hinduism. Like with Bee-lzebub, Belphegor, the Sin sleeping next to Bee, is most often portrayed as a male. Belphegor is also known as "Baal-Peor" which comes from the Hebrew "Ba'al-Pe'gor" and means "Lord of the Gap" (which, as a side note, is quite the nice parallel to Beelzebub whose title is „Lord of [the] Fly“). He is usually portrayed as an old man with horns, a beard, long nails and a devil's tail. But honestly, I do like the show's design, too. Originally seducing people by helping them make discoveries and inventions that would make them rich, he is considered the Deadly Sin of Sloth nowadays due to the Binsfeld's Classification of Demons by real life witch hunter Peter Binsfeld (though it goes without saying that the "witches" he hunted weren't actually magical). Also, according to the Dictionnaire Infernal, he is also a member of the Order of the Fly, serving as the ambassador to France. Lastly, he has a book about him by Machiavelli (the guy who wrote the political satire "The Prince") which was adopted into an opera in 1923. Also, in-universe fun fact, as seen in S1E5 of Hazbin Hotel, Belphegor is listed in Charlie’s contact list. So despite the Sins seeming to not have a high opinion of their king (granted, he is an absent king, so it's not exactly a surprise), at least a few seem to be on speaking terms with his hellborn daughter.
I am absolutely SHOCKED Skyen didn't even mention the smoke coming off of Ice Peacock's hands in the first scene. The way the wapor effect hugs his fingers and goes around his anatomy, expected a 20 minute segment just about that.
Patrick Page was also Hades in Hadestown from 2016-2019, but for some reason it's not on his IMDB page unless I'm blind and missed it. I recognized him by voice right away, but had to check to be sure.
2:15:13 It's actually not uncommon in Abrahamic mythology to depict Satan as the “Adjudicator of God”, especially when regarding Satan and Lucifer as separate entities. Basically, if Lucifer is God's rival, Satan is the judge appointed by God to keep Lucifer in check and to mete out judgment on the sinners of the world. There's actually a great scene in Shin Megami Tensei II showcasing this where God commands Satan to eradicate a city of people he claims to be standing in his way, which Satan questions the actual justice/morality of. God responds to Satan's questioning by nuking Satan _and_ the city.
Look. The longwinded yapping about the class issues of fictional characters in hell, fawning over smear frames and animation for 2 hours+ may not be for everyone. But it is the absolute reason why I'm a subscriber and eagerly await Skyen's reaction almost as much as the episode itself! I catch myself watching a newly released episode and can go "that frame of animation was fantastic! Skyen is gonna be so happy!" Do your thing! I enjoy wathing you analyse and enjoy this fantastic creation that is Helluva Boss!
Apprantly Satan was hyping himself up when he said he was hells ruler before Lucifer, which is why Bee and Ozzie looked unimpressed during that part of the song. ua-cam.com/video/BEtwFrGr9cc/v-deo.html
I literally just watched this episode and I started watching some other reactions. After a little bit I said "It would be funny if a 2+ hour video popped up to pass the time" and then I got this notification.
I don't think it's a sexism thing that Stella wouldn't get the power, my money would be on she doesn't want the responsibility and work that goes along with it. She just wants to be rich, throw parties, and live in luxury, at least from what we've seen of her. Andrealphus wants that power for the power, and Stella is likely happy to let him have it as long as she can just do whatever she wants.
3:27 if I’m remembering correctly, I think Vivian medrano said in an interview that we are going to get Stella backstory at some point later in the show. :)
If I wanted to make Stella sympathetic without downplaying her selfish cunti-ness, I'd focus on her inability to achieve lasting happiness. Nothing is ever enough, and no matter how many lives she is willing to ruin to get there, she can never be at peace, content.
That could be interesting! I think I would also add that since she's so immature she should atleast whine once about how she didn't want to lay an egg in the first place but had to in front of Octavia now that they may be spending more time together. So you can (depending on the person) feel bad that she was basically forced to be an incubator but also see she's still a selfish asshole who's complaining in front of her child that she never wanted her lmao
That 360° shot of Stolas was so clean, I wonder if it wasn't a 3D shot with a 2D layer on top. They have the 2D animation talent to do such a thing and it would be probably easier. 🤔
I have a feeling that Satan lies about history when Lucifer isn't there, to exercise some sort of control over and reverence from the hellborns and sinners that don't know better, to prop himself up.
15:50 Technically, that's a cross. A crucifix has Jesus on the cross. The mnemonic trick I use to remember that is "a crucifix has Jesus affixed to it."
My concern with octavia still seeking comfort from her mother when from what we've seen in most other cases, stella is a petulant brat, is will stella be the kind of toxic mother that knows how to kill their child's instinct to run from them? In dynamics like that the child tends to somewhat intuitively feel they should but the parent knows how to perform affection when it suits them so any time their child voices feeling hurt by their actions, they play the victim leaving the child in a position of "my mother can't possibly be at fault for my hurt feelings because I hurt her when I suggest that, so it must be me. I can't think my feelings are real, she's too fragile to hear that, i have to protect her from that or it's gonna be my problem" So yeah basically mother Gothel because i could totally see that happening and that would suck for Octavia
2:46:20 oktavia's got a lot of issues feeling like her dad doesn't care about her though, and now she's just watched him seemingly sacrifice himself to save blitz. she might not want anything to do with him even if she does learn he's alive, because he was 100 percent okay with dying for blitz and she clearly wasn't a single thought in his mind when doing so. how do you deal with knowing unequivocally that your dad WOULD leave you behind for some guy?
1:24:48 making an appearance on one of your video was not on my bingo card. Thanks, I’m 100% right, that scene is just a masterpiece. I’m glad my tweet provided the names of the artists that worked on it! I didn’t expect that tweet to reach so many people 😂 I was just amazed by the shot
As for the before and after animation, I can usually tell the difference by the way the lighting is handled. The moment the trial scene starts, the colors are more saturated, shadows are stronger, there's a shine to more surfaces, and anything that glows pops more. Though, I think they MIGHT do that to have like a more subtle but defined difference between when we're dealing with the everyday imp slums, and when we're in the "world" of the nobility. Though that could just be speculation on my part.
6:21 (if I find a reveal of the artist who did this shot, I'll come back and edit their credit in) 28:301:46:15 "Back" probably isn't the right word. I can almost guarantee that the voice actors likely record their lines for an entire season in the same session. Bee's character spans different seasons, but since she's a rare appearance (this being only her second episode) she has few enough lines they probably had Kesha record all her lines in the same session. 39:13 Songwriter Sam Haft revealed that he and Andrew Underberg did use "Bourree in E minor" by Bach, which "Jack's Lament" and other songs use as their melody. 44:0245:52 [Credits for Stolas in the revolving long shot: Animated by lead animator Aven Heard, and cleaned up and colored by Sidney Gale.](Rest of the magic would probably be from the background artists) 1:00:51 Rather than anything else, it's a matter that Lucifer is a part of the Hellaverse IP that is now partially owned by a big corporation, and thus Viv would need licensing clearance to bring him into Helluva. The big hints about him in this episode were probably only a way to make him feel "present" as the Sin of Pride without having him available to actually appear. 1:06:23 [I couldn't find the rough animator for this shot between Stolas and Andrealphus, but cleanup was done by David Toons] 1:13:21 [This shot was also animated by Aven Heard!] 1:33:57 I thought the same thing! I'm so curious who put that in (and of course a Skeksis like Goetia would be in Andrealphus's circle) 1:37:48 [Credit for the fire and smoke effect in this snort goes to Caracan Draco]
I think the episode was a bit fast, but other than that another solid chapter. LOVE Hadestown's Hades as Satan, it's perfect since the Wrath ring and Hadestown is the same "Goldrush southwest America" framing.
Stella basically is a "no body" in the Goetia hierarchy, her brother is a royal Goetia, and actually named demon, which knowing how royalty works, she is the little sister, meaning if she had been born first, she would have been the inheritor to whatever line she is from(instead her brother got it). Andy(easier to type than his actual name) is just doing a power grab, because Stolas technically HIGHER up the chain than he is, and has more power/stuff.
I think Stella is powerless because of the comment her brother makes. At least you're hot. It's not because he is atteacted to her but because he can use her looks to his advantage.
In case no one else has said it. Satan is The Prince of Lies (or I think the Father of Lies specifically in the bible?), so him lying is simply true to character. With Lucifer else where he can say whatever he wants and write whatever narrative he so pleases. We don't actually know how long our Ringmaster has been AFK from the circus, so Satan could have had plenty of time to spin whatever story he wants and for at least imps to believe it, even if the other sins know he's full of it.
Can’t wait to see your reaction! Missed the discord stream, as I had to work on a course work, but now that I’ve finished it… yeah, let’s go, I adore your videos! Thank you for your content
All these year and I still have no idea what the Goetia is supposed to do and why they exist. Something, something, stars and planets is about all that I've got.
I am not the most well read on demonology but i assume they do the exact things they are said to do in the respective texts in which they are spoken of. They make contracts with humans by getting summoned by them and take part in rituals like Stolas with the harvest moon festival. The association with the stars is a trait unique to Stolas, but all of them have their unique fields with which they work. Beside that they do regular aristocratic socialite stuff, like going to formal parties and meetings with on another. I imagine they probably own land and enact policies on said land.
My main and only real gripe about this episode was the pacing- it was very breakneck, and I would’ve enjoyed spending more time enjoying and wallowing in the atmosphere of the episode. I think the 22 minute length of this episode is what holds it back, personally I think the episode should’ve been 40+ minutes or even a two parter.
The last time we had a two-parter it took them several episodes of season 2 to release the second part after the first one. I know why but it's best not to test faith again. So I'm opt for 40+ min episode
…You know, I’m just remembering In episode 2 Octavia asks if Stolas is going to leave her and run off with Blitzo somewhere she can’t find him. From what we see, there’s a good chance that she has no idea where he is now, and he’s off with Blitzo… …actually nvm in S2 E1 she literally sneaks* into IMP, it’s not Blitzo’s house but she can just go there at least. *Walks past the secretary who currently does not give a fuck

Yes yes I know he likely super did it because he wanted Blitzo gone ( Which makes Blitz being a new class hero DELICIOUS when it comes to karma )
I could just totally see Blitz going "..........okay that was still fucked up but fair" if it was for Bombproof's benefit
Just got hit by some fridge-logic. Stolas has just burned down his entire life due to his feelings for Blitzo. This is his circus-fire.
I’d rather see them date and struggle to grow with each other
Yeah, I had hoped that they'd get a little more time apart to grow and settle in their individual developments, but we'll see what happens. Knowing how absolutely absurdly bad they both are at communicating (in wildly different but equally intense ways) I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to fumble the relationship ball for another season even while living as roommates.
The character designs in this show makes so incredibly happy
Same. I love Bel and Satan so much. Am super glad we got to see all the 7 sins. And Vasago is so cool !
Leviathans is kinda mid. At least, it shouldn't be for someone named leviathan. Give Envy a fitting name if it's gonna look like an emo teen
@@themustardman219I get your point but you kinda have to call them Leviathan cuz Literally Everyone Else is named after a demon ykwim?
@@gearguts7259 Could give them a demon name other than Leviathan

Skyen's reaction to the "IN SONG!" is definitely one of the reasons I watch these ^^
I am all of a sudden realizing that if they do really decide to go deep into and explore the class inequality theme with this show, the company being called I.M.P. gains so much more meaning than just a pun
Stolas being forced to break Octavia's heart by not being able to be there for her anymore just... It's what so totally ruins him. She's the only thing he was worried about with the punishment. D:
45:54
SO! About who did the spinny shot:
According to what I could find on socials, Aven Heard, one of the Lead Animators at Spindlehorse, did the Rough Animation for that amazing Stolas turn and Sidney Gale did the Clean Up Animation and Color!
Funfact:
Aven also animated the spin with Stolas and the moon in Look My Way, the spin with the kiss at the end of Crooked and Bee twirling in the air during Cotton Candy.
They're really good at spinning characters!
When I watched the episode I saw that rotation and went "Oh Skyen is gonna talk about that." You're in my head now lol
Ikr! Immediately after I saw that the episode was up I was so excited to see if Father Skyen posted the analysis (I don't know how to call it) since I saw the ep kind of late.
I love that its apparently endemic that the Goetia can't just call it a Grimoire. It _has_ to be a Grimoooooiiiiiireeeeeee
Ah yes, I remember when Father Skyen said he'll never get videos like this over an hour. Ahhh Good ol' days.
SHHHH
We gonna get a five hours special next then, @@3BSkyen?
Does this mean we get a five hours video next then, @@3BSkyen?
@@3BSkyenFinally it is confirmed that of the seven deadly sins, only Lucifer is originally a fallen "golden" angel.
Lucifer (Fallen Angel of Pride), Satan (Devil of Wrath), Leviathan (Dragon of Envy), Asmodeus (Nephil of Lust), Mammon (Demon of Greed), Belphegor (Demon of Sloth), Beelzebub (Fallen Angel of Gluttony)
Satan concludes the song by stating he is the original mastermind, ruling Hell before the "golden angel"'s fall.
@@Waffle-fq4xp we can only hope and dream of such a future^^
I'm fully convinced that Satan was just in his "giant demon" form the whole time. I'm almost completely sure that the other sins could also become that large or of comparable size if they chose.
I'm guessing that for Satan's "normal demon" form his horns would be a little smaller
We've seen Bee and Mammon go into their large Demon Form. So yeah
He can grow bigger , he has a stronger form , we see him grow when he gets pissed off and his lil guy comes in
He is always in beast mode, in my opinion.
Listen, you don't need to be a hand pervert (affectionate) to enjoy drawing hands.
Stolas going full theater kid will never not be funny
42:23 "Listen Helluva Boss, I love you but if you're actually going here, if you're actually gonna deal with the class thing. You have no idea how long I'm gonna sit here blabbing on. "
Pauses and looks at the time line....
Yeah, for all we know, Envy could be a worse b**** than Mammon XD
@@dan_mnght I mean, you never know what Levi's into... ;)
I think it’s to show the two types of envy. One side of where you look up to a person and enter people pleaser mode and the other where you dislike the people who have what you wish you had.
@@sarmaangel Which, to be honest, kind of seem like benign envy and malicious envy!
Skyen summarizing the entire plot and emotional development of this episode in the first 3 minutes of this video without having seen it while also somehow finding the time to plug his merchandise store, i’m impressed!
20:27 He rules the Wrath ring as creator of the Imps. The place that’s more or less the American South.
The devil went down to Georgia
Andrelphus is aggressively blue blooded. Every royalty stereotype fits that peacocking ice princess. (I know what I typed and I know his gender.)
Aggressively blue blooded is soo funny
His blue blood is so aggressive it stains his fashion choice
He is a peacock and I think it suits his personality. Knew someone who kept peacocks as pets and their rooster kept escaping and going over to the neighbors almost half a mile away. They figured out that they had basement windows and the vain bastard was only going there to look at his own reflection! Like, he had 3 hens at home! But nooo, he needed to bask in his own beauty so bad that he risked leaving his home just for a glance.
They fixed it by painting a pane of glass and lean it against a barn wall so he could look at himself at home.
Andrealphus channels that level of narcissism perfectly, I think 😆
@@novanettle7497 we have feral peacocks in my state. They are the exact opposite and are very good at hiding.
Princess is 100% gender neutral here
22:34 yep and if you look at the end of the Ozzie's episode when Blitz is scrolling on his phone there's a Satan workout app.
She just wants to take his toys
1:12:39 "You can't tease this, and then not finish me." Now, *there's* a slip I wasn't expecting from Skyen. ^^
"Theyre gonna dress up in the interns and send them out instead." Maybe not perfect, but I don't know how Skyen keeps calling these gags, it's great 😂
Vivzie has publicly said that she wants a crossover, but there are legal issues with Amazon. Thus no Luci...yet. Also, there is one more ep for this season, and its a rough one.
Not really spoilers but it's titled "Sinsmas"
Signing with Amazon was probably a mistake for her not enough production control.
@@helenanilsson5666 There's on particular line from Octavia that pertains. won't say what for spoilers.
I hope I'm qualified!" "Without my grimoire, my powers are just a tad limited in the human world"
And I would take it as a personal validation if the "Carmine crafted blessing tipped rifle" that vanished in IMP's posession after Harvest Moon ended up in Stolas's hands.
47:38 You just made some animators cry uncontrollable happy tears of validation
2:57:00 Fuck man, that's true I lost someone I loved very dearly but they didn't love themselves and it's sweet to see love conquering all in fiction, it takes me to another world where love is enough and it helps
I think stolas will find his place eventually, but I'm interested in the fact that in the previous episode blitz got rid of about 10 to 15% of his baggage and it's already drastically positively affecting his life. Dude took that tiny bit of progress and ran with it. Good for him.
This show is so self-indulgent!! But I'm not complaining
Before going into the lore behind the Vassago from demonological lore, a fun fact about his design:
His design first appeared way back in the Hazbin Hotel pilot among the Overlords when Vaggie was saying the line "Many have speculated what unimaginable forces enabled him to rival our world's most ancient and destructive evils".
Speaking of design: The most common depiction of him I've seen is a humanoid riding a crocodile. But since he isn't depicted in the Ars Goetia and the Goetia demons are mostly birds, I think his design in the show makes sense.
Speaking of "Ars Goetia": He is listed in both the Liber Officiorum Spirituum and, of course, the Ars Goetia itself:
In the Liber, he is named "Usagoo".
To keep the crocodile rider aspect he could be one of those birds that clean crocodile teeth
1:15:00 Important to point that during the Hollywood episode, Blitzø got a glimpse of this fame and adoration
Also I'm sure Vassago will be an ally to help stolas get his powers again
Here's a bit of background on the two Sins with no lines:
In demonology, Levy, aka Leviathan, is mostly described as a giant sea serpent or another sea monster such as a whale or a giant crocodile.
Thank you for the background information!

Checks out....
Satan being prosecutor because he's "the accuser" is so fun! :'D then I learned Satan is literally called "heavenly prosecutor" in hebrew bible.
Love how they got Kesha again just for like one line
Andrelphus peacocking when he's mad is sooo funny, and I love Vasago.
I love the new vtuber model too. :3
Belphegor is sooo cute. X3
Skyen is gonna be so happy!"
Do your thing! I enjoy wathing you analyse and enjoy this fantastic creation that is Helluva Boss!
Thanks for spending so much time on the rotation. I was watching the lineart version of it vs colored and polished, and it was just blowing my mind.
Apprantly Satan was hyping himself up when he said he was hells ruler before Lucifer, which is why Bee and Ozzie looked unimpressed during that part of the song.

I came for the in depth animation analysis. I stayed for the lecture about class warfare and solidarity. Absolutely fantastic.
Exactly

3:27 if I’m remembering correctly, I think Vivian medrano said in an interview that we are going to get Stella backstory at some point later in the show. :)
punishment by fine = legal for a price
If they ever want to make Mammon sympathetic this is how too, greed is a terrible curse to have; always craving more and never having enough
someone needs to animate a minute long rotation sequence so we can all get a 30 hour video reviewing every detail of it.
Stolas' song pulled out the lamp, rubbed it and wished for the genie to be free 3 times just to be sure it wouldn't go back in that bottle
He does, thats why Oz and Bee roll their eyes, this was confirmed by Viv
I love bells design and bee was just as genuine as in her premiere

Technically, that's a cross. A crucifix has Jesus on the cross. The mnemonic trick I use to remember that is "a crucifix has Jesus affixed to it."
Or that you have to have someone crucified to call it a crucifix
Bro going from Book of Mormon animated to voicing Satan is pretty funny
My concern with octavia still seeking comfort from her mother when from what we've seen in most other cases, stella is a petulant brat, is will stella be the kind of toxic mother that knows how to kill their child's instinct to run from them?
In dynamics like that the child tends to somewhat intuitively feel they should but the parent knows how to perform affection when it suits them so any time their child voices feeling hurt by their actions, they play the victim leaving the child in a position of "my mother can't possibly be at fault for my hurt feelings because I hurt her when I suggest that, so it must be me. I can't think my feelings are real, she's too fragile to hear that, i have to protect her from that or it's gonna be my problem"
So yeah basically mother Gothel because i could totally see that happening and that would suck for Octavia
I was raised by a Mother Gothel, so I will be angry if it does go that way lol
"Ohhh, those are some cool OCs" - he says, looking at characters based on actual demonology.
A 3 HOURS REACTION TO MASTERMIND!?? IM SORRY BUT I MUST WATCH THIS NOW.
6:21 (if I find a reveal of the artist who did this shot, I'll come back and edit their credit in)
28:30 1:46:15 "Back" probably isn't the right word.
44:02 45:52 [Credits for Stolas in the revolving long shot: Animated by lead animator Aven Heard, and cleaned up and colored by Sidney Gale.](Rest of the magic would probably be from the background artists)
1:00:51 Rather than anything else, it's a matter that Lucifer is a part of the Hellaverse IP that is now partially owned by a big corporation, and thus Viv would need licensing clearance to bring him into Helluva. The big hints about him in this episode were probably only a way to make him feel "present" as the Sin of Pride without having him available to actually appear.
1:06:23 [I couldn't find the rough animator for this shot between Stolas and Andrealphus, but cleanup was done by David Toons]
1:13:21 [This shot was also animated by Aven Heard!]
1:33:57 I thought the same thing! I'm so curious who put that in (and of course a Skeksis like Goetia would be in Andrealphus's circle)
1:37:48 [Credit for the fire and smoke effect in this snort goes to Caracan Draco]
I think the episode was a bit fast, but other than that another solid chapter. LOVE Hadestown's Hades as Satan, it's perfect since the Wrath ring and Hadestown is the same "Goldrush southwest America" framing.
The axe at 35:50 is another cult of the lamb refrence, its practically identical to a weapon from the game.

18:49 the broken crest on the very, the red circle with while cracks on the door is the sigil of Lucifer
Been waiting for this one :3
"SEREOUSLEIGH?!"
…You know, I’m just remembering
In episode 2 Octavia asks if Stolas is going to leave her and run off with Blitzo somewhere she can’t find him.
From what we see, there’s a good chance that she has no idea where he is now, and he’s off with Blitzo…
…actually nvm in S2 E1 she literally sneaks* into IMP, it’s not Blitzo’s house but she can just go there at least.

Skyen laughing at Root Of All Evil thinking it's a joke.
