Hiking - Powwow Trail - Superstition Lake Overlook to Myth Lake/Exploit Lake Beaver Dam in the BWCA

Description: The Powwow Trail is a 'loop on a stick' trail of approximately 30 miles. The 'stick' is a 2.7-mile out and back to the 'loop' section of the trail from the trailhead. The Trailhead is BWCA Entry Point #86.
The video begins at the first overlook you come to of Superstition Lake while heading in the counterclockwise direction around the Powwow Trail loop. Initially the hike traces the eastern shoreline of Superstition Lake. At the south end of the lake, the trail ascends modestly into an area of forest that wasn't impacted by the 2011 Pagami Creek Fire. The trail now starts to follow the remains of an old logging road. The forested section lasts for about 0.7-miles. Once leaving the forest, the trail continues now in an eastward direction through marshy lowlands. You get a brief glimpse of distant Exploit Lake to your right (southeast) in this area. There is also a large beaver dam crossing along the south side of a pond in this section. About 0.2-miles after the last beaver dam, you come to another beaver dam that controls the water flowing from Myth Lake south into Exploit Lake. This is where this hike ends. The total distance hiked is about 1.7-miles. The video for this hike was recorded on May 25-26, 2024. The Powwow Trail is located in the BWCA.
