Heads up for everyone: in 1942-1943, the ball drop didn't happen back then because of WW2 . Everyone had to stand there a moment of silence, and the church bells go'd off instead
Places in times square would just dim their lights to avoid the enemies instead
@Pareng_playz true.
Yep, it was to prevent the enemy from finding them. NY City was a hub during the war and a potential target to U-boats and enemy ships during the war due to the "Battle of the Atlantic" since the harbor is on the Atlantic Ocean.
@@tylertheanimator Les gooo. He knows!
0:40 yo the crowd is hypering in 1933
Thank whomever put this all together. It mustve taken months or years to gather all if these years.
3:02 they worked hard on that bird.
The Albert hole Bearing in its beak, Newly Born Baby 1935 *something falls out* Oh Careless, i hope it didnt fall out on its head
1924-1995: no times
1996-2024: have times
2008: auld lang syne song
Catherine Bach from 1980-1981 was stunning in her white dress in a frigid New Years in NYC, that was one of the colder ones

Justice for you
It shows 100 years of ball drops! How awesome! I love the new year and it's indeed my favorite holiday! I was born in 1992, and I enjoy staying up until midnight to ring in the new year. I want to see many more years begin and in such years to begin I stay up until midnight. To begin 1943 and 1944 wartime blackouts were made for World War II and no typical ball drop occurred. I already am so excited about 2025 to begin!
Well, ball drops have actually been in Time Square New York city since the end of 1907. It's just that there isn't really any footage of it at the time
Yo New year 2025 is coming BE READY
And I'm in 2025
3:03 animated in 1988
What?
22:06-23:24 NBC 1966-1967 audio is found?!
It's not meant to be heard, it's under protection, (hence why people include them as images they made or cut out the audio completely.)
18:19 what
The New Year Footage Was Recorded In Dec 31st 1963 Until 1964
Yes
1:20:20 that is wholesome 😢
2004 was the last one that Mr. Clark sounded like " Mr. Clark".... Sad RIP
I want to know something, there’s no countdown to the new year in

Why?
Paul Anka, Andy Williams and Catherine Bach took over CBS versuon from when Guy Lombardo passed on in the 1980's to compete with Dick Clark
Everyone:The ball drop 2002 almost got canceled because of 9/11
I was very close that year because of safety concerns
Happy 2024!
Bach must've either so cold or drunk. She was so confused on the 1982-1983 countdown

I don't think 1905-1922 celebrations exist
It wasn't until tne mid 1950's with the advert of tv and more modern radio that New Years in NYC became a national then international thing. First it was Guy Lombardo, then Dick Clark, now Ryan Seacrest
2012 was the last Mr. Dick Clarks appearance, RIP
Happy new year from Ireland
Happy new year from Australia
@@jacestephenweatherall1732 I’m also Australian but until school starts I live with my extended family in Ireland. Anyways, happy Australia Day (though it’s early)
@@diegonotdrkatz yeah you too
I wonder if people thought what the 2000 would be 25,50,75 years before it finally arrived just like we can think on what 2100 will look like 75 years from now
It all glizzler in rhe 1970's with colored tv and two stations simultaneously simulcasting the celebration, Lombardo versus Clark for the ladt time in 1977

3:08 why did they welcome 1935 with a baby dang people back then and in 1939 they used a women hatching in an egg r so weird yet creative 😭😭
Hey Ronney. I just wanted to say that if you plan to update this video in 2025, please remove the 1967 and 1968 audio tapes from it. They’re under heavy protection because they were released without permission. Just to inform you, that’s all.
Wait, what? Oh my god, I didn't know that! How did you know that anyway?
btw thanks for telling me that
@@whoa601 dont worry man we refound the 1968 audio here: ua-cam.com/video/MforPZKr2Q4/v-deo.html ) is a reel-to-reel tape record in the Waldorf Astoria but has the times square portion still that you can use in your 2025 update video, but we did not refound 1967
I find it weird how there's footage available for the 20s 30s and 40s before TV was readily available but not those years
The fact that 2020 was celebrated 😢
Yeah, and then on March 2020, the pandemic happened. But then again, none of us knew it was gonna happen at the time, so
Go with the feeling. No one knew how bad 2020 was going to be. This is like the equivalent of the happy passengers on the titanic

3:38 no offense, I don’t believe in baby new year. That might just be a kid in a basket.
I wonder who took the footage from the 1923 through 1945 when World War 2 ended?
9:06 what is with the audio
Most of the people born from 1923-1933 are all gone in this video

Countdown Movie Ryan seacrest 🌆🌆🌆🌆🌆
Ball drops were suspended from 1942-1943 due to WWII because the military forced cities to dim the lights everywhere to prevent the enemy from finding.
Since the late 1990's the crowds are so much more subdued now do to keeping them locked in a playpen area and the digital age

7:33 it's not 1942-1943, it's 1932-1933
I know that, and I already put 1932-1933, so
7:35 its the same video as 1933😐
Yeah, I know. I realized that a while ago. I'll remove the 1943 one when I update this in 2026, especially since I know that the ball drop didn't happen in 1942 and 1943 because of World War 2.
Here's the update from 2025 (I forgot to remove the 1943 part in the 2025 update): ua-cam.com/video/qN5O-_dmcGw/v-deo.html
That ball drop in 1996 was a terrible drop after 1995 it became too digital looking
1959 is missing.
The 1959 ball drop footage isn't found yet. Let's hope it gets found this year
