I travel back in time listening to this beautiful music. Somehow, I know I was there. ❤
The fact I just found this at a thrift store and bought it right before finding this is amazing
Synchronicity!
Literally no bad version of this classic
Cass Elliot did a version of this song in the 60’s this classic never gets old!
I love the fact that you're uploading older records. I know these kinds of songs were popularised by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald etcetera, but I personally like these versions way better.
So many of the songs from the 1930s - my favorite decade for music - (Not exclusive to it) - have a haunting/ghostly air that appeals to me
1930s the best period of music, I agree with you.
It's the static of the recording process back then, the gradient.
@@Jonny-ge2rk My all time favorte is Al Bowlly
Great to hear the original versions of these songs.
A past life of mine seems to have brought me here. Interesting.
He has a pleasant voice. He lets the music and words do the work they were intended for.
Blessed to have this old classic! Thank you!!!!!!
Timeless. And what a fantastic sound quality of this 90+ years old recording!
Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me
Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me
Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
Such a different time.
I usually know which songs are covers, but this one surprised me. Although it is no surprise such a classic has survived the ages through many artists.
How I adore this channel! I am discovering these wonderful old versions of songs I always believed to be more recent. (e.g. I only knew this song sung by Doris Day!) Thank you for this, I love this style of music.
So glad to hear that you're enjoying the music!
I kmow the Cass Eliott version of this song
@@KatyReminiec9399 Cheak out Al Bowlly - he made a number of songs famous the first time around - including 'The Very Thought of You' and 'My melancholy baby
First time heard it with The Mamas & the Papas. Very nice version.
Definitely wonderful! xxs
I didn't know Ozzie Nelson dad of Rick and David was a leader of an orchestra..
Beautiful melody, this and Wayne King's version are my favorites, but when it comes to your vocal versions I'm gonna have to pick Georgia Gibbs and Bob Crosby
boy, this is great, especially after hearing Max Raabe's cover. He puts on a more classically crooner voice, but it's so nice to hear this oldfashioned...it's not really NYC voice, is it? New Jersey, maybe, or edging into PA. That fancy, silly "bleu" knocks me out.
Wayne King recorded his version for Victor on February 18, 1931...They take it at about the same tempo too.
From Savanna Il?
Thank you! That's the one I am looking for.
To have a phonograph and records, that would be amazing
Another great Gus Kahn lyric!
Mildred Bailey would've killed this song
It’s sad this OG isn’t on Spotify
Vengo por el comic Sandman "sueña un pequeño sueño de mi"
Why these 78rpm had translations to Spanish? For export to Mexico?
Laurel and Hardy recorded their films in Spanish - many can be viewed - there is a 1931 Spanish version of Dracula - that also can be viewed - as to your question - I do not know - but I feel you are correct alone with Spain - also a number, but by no means all, just a few - films shot in Hollywood in the 1930s had French versions
@@anthonyfrew1571 Thanks, I was referring to the title of the song.
Hello. I think the Spanish translation of the song title was for export of the recording to Cuba, which was probably a better market than Mexico back in the day. There’s many popular 78s from that era with the translated titles included but the renditions are in English.
I’m so glad I was able to find this from EATEOT with voices, if you don’t know where this track is from, it’s dream emporium, but I love both equally.
it's also from the version of EATEOWV
lemons!
1:02 Dream Emporium
Sides anyone know why it says "que me suene un poco" under the title? I find no references to this phrase.
As a vocalist, Ozzie really wasn't too hot, but nevertheless it's a charming rendition of this great one.
@@beiderbecke1927 Right -- Ozzie had a sort of everyman voice, which is a nice change in that smooth baritone era. ... Though Bing recorded many "dream" songs in his early years -- Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams; Did You Ever See A Dream Walking; A Man And His Dream, etc. -- he didn't take on this one until '57, on _Bing With A Beat_ -- a superb Dixie treatment, too, I'd say: ua-cam.com/video/QWTphX_9uYw/v-deo.html
I’m glad not every song I hear before 1933 is hot. It’s a refreshing tune.
@@Women_Rock Yes, although in this instance I meant "hot" in the sense of "good" rather than as the opposite of "sweet."
His voice is dreamy!😍
He should have had Harriet Hilliard sing. This!
Oh shit this is actually a banger
Pity this never made it into boardwalk empire
¿ "Que me suene un poco" ?
Less than two years until this become pubic domain.

this song brings back so many memories from when my dad used to sing it for me when i went to sleep
