This lost sheep is lost no more, but I know there are so many others like me who left the church for the same reasons. We need to get them back. And I'm starting right within my own family. How blessed we are to be Catholics, how blessed to have the Sacrifice of the Mass everyday, how blessed to have Mother Mary protecting and guiding us, how blessed to have the Angels and Saints cheering us on towards Holiness and Sainthood. Our King has provided His servants treasures to numerous to count, and the gem that crowns them all is the Catholic faith! Amen 🥰🙏❤️ P.S. Powerful Message Bishop Barron. Dad of 5, I love my kids, they all grew up loving Jesus and making rosaries with me. My wife passed in 2016 with lung cancer, but her spiritual life was always respected and well known by our children. An amazing legacy of love. Thank you for all you do Bishop Barron. I really enjoy all your teachings and insights.
We have One Master and my favorite protestant pastor Dr Stanley Charles has retired. I never saw him engaging in Christian divisions and always read the Bible without adding politics. He helped me so much to be closer to Christ and ultimately go back to catholic church. Have a great Sunday
*Bishop Barron: If we say anything other than "Christ is the King of the whole of my life," I'm horsing around with Christianity. I'm not living it properly.*
In all honesty Bishop I'm still struggling to follow Jesus all the way, especially in my natural weaknesses. Please pray for us your followers Bishop. I want to surrender everything to Jesus my Lord and God, King of all creations. May He have mercy and grace. Amen. God bless you our good Bishop and protect you.
We need more shepherds like Bishop Barrens. Too many are luke warm in faith and it is so true that we have dumbed down our faith. I was brought up to offer things up for others especially the holy souls in purgatory. What I have found as I have aged is undoing so I’ve not only been comforted by angels, saints, the holy family and trinity but the holy souls have helped me through some serious times and brought me to joyful moments. I don’t think we even understand the word sacrifice or intercessory prayer at this time. We need help and grateful I found word on fire. Continued prayers for all bishops, priests and faithful.
I picture, a very technical book in the library. Which I would like to read, but know I would not understand it. Father Barron (to me) reads that book for me, and explained it. Thank you Father for letting me understand more things 🙏
I choose Jesus, besides he already owns everything else. You can have my soul Jesus...my mind....my body ....my personal life. It's all yours Jesus. not my will but yours Jesus
I lack temperance when it comes to food. I overeat. Sometimes I can feel overwhelmed by the high standard that we should live by. Good days bad days. It’s okay. As long as I keep on trying. The Lord knows my weaknesses. “Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.” Isaiah 49:16
Such a difficult teaching for me (us) to hear, but then Jesus did say “Narrow is the way..” Bishop Barron is such a blessing; grateful to him for telling us like it is. Let’s pray for each other to truly live as Catholic Christians.
I also listened twice. Once for myself and then I shared it with my 2 sons who have left the church. One of them got back to me with positive comments. I loved this video from Bishop Barron and it gave me the courage to send it to 2 of my 3 sons. I need more time to reach out to the third. I have prayed for my 3 sons that they will return to their faith and I will never stop until I can’t pray anymore. I have Masses said for them regularly hoping that God will answer my prayers. Bishop Barron you give me much hope and your words are the right ones for the nones. Thank you so much for all your amazing work!!💕
I will use your homily today as an examination of conscience! I love to listen to your Sunday homilies as they nourish my faith! Thank you Bishop Barron 🙏
Profound...”If we marginalising Him we are only horsing around with Christianity.” That for me knocked me over. Thank you Bishop Barron for your Priesthood and for your teaching. So much needed today. Lacking for the most part from our Shepherds, we need you.
The true meaning of DOMINOS dawned on me today through your ho Mili. I always remembered that Christ also does not fit into our current understanding of oppressive kings - he is a King who loves His subjects to the point of death! He emptied himself for me! Praised be Jesus!
Jesus Christ is such an unusual King - He does not seek wealth especially not from His followers as mortal kings do; they have power and they use it to increase their wealth and to overcome those who oppose them. As a Man Jesus had no wealth. as humans measure it. He had no power but instead He was servant to his followers, washing their feet at the Last Supper for example and he never bullied or coerced anyone, He didn't condemn the woman caught in adultery, He didn't call back the followers who left him in John 6:66 "After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him." He did not force them to stay as his followers.
Oh my goodness I think I need to listen to this every week--to be sure I am on track. What a strong sermon. Thank you so much Bishop Barron. God bless you always.
Sobering reminders. An examination of conscience in a nutshell. A placing me squarely before the throne of my King beholding his face, while seeing my life played on the background. This is what Bishop Barron's homily did for me today. A recommitment to submission to my King that needs to take place today and each and every day. Thank you Bishop and ¡VIVA CRISTO REY! 👑
Obedience implies Trust! We are not 'enslaved' by Christ when we make Him King of our Lives. We are acknowledging that He has our best interests at heart. That He loves us as children, brothers, sisters, family. We are obedient to His Lordship because we trust Him to take care of us, to not allow things into our lives that we cannot handle with Him, and for Him to be listening when we tell Him we don't understand.
Horsing around, love it. To those Catholic friends of mine give the excuse.”I not being fed” then 1) they are not receiving the Eucharist , get state of Grace and receive Him. 2) if your pastor is a weak homolist then listen to Bishop Barron weekly homilies. Thank you Bishop. I have couple of rooms need tidy up😊
This homily should be watched, and rewatched and rewatched... It is invaluable, for it makes us face the really difficult questions that we should constantly be asking ourselves. God bless you for your tireless evangelizing work, Bishop Barron!

The feast of Christ the King is my favorite bc about 6 years ago… my “second conversion” really took steam with the help of a homily very similar to this one from Bishop Barron… I was on a road trip to Dallas, I think it was a Thursday and his podcast homily was posted the Wednesday before. Anyway, needless to say, I took it to heart… and it changed my life :) following that… it was a hard 3 years of pruning but that’s another story, lol! Thank the Lord for his goodness and mercy!
Thank you, Bishop Barron, for what you said about supporting democratic political systems while also affirming Christ as Lord of your life-Christ can be Lord of our lives even as we support democratic political systems. And for those following in parts of the world where there isn’t political freedom in the same way as here in America, they, also, can still affirm Christ as the Lord of their lives. May God be with you and all the folks at Word on Fire, may Christ the King be glorified in and through your work.
Profound and beautiful sermon Bishop Barron.. I love it I used to like this famous questioning phrase about Jesus to keep it in mind in daily basis.. “What Would Jesus Do ? (WWJD) but I like the way Bishop Barron just said it.. “Would you be comfortable doing what you do in private if Jesus were sitting next to you “ ? That’s something to have in mind at all times in order to improve our spiritual life and having Jesus as the Ming of our lives Blessings Bishop Barron 🙏
Happy birthday Bishop Barron. 😊 Mine was yesterday. I was born on the feast of Christ the King and I'm still working hard on keeping Him the King of my life 38 years later. Can't thank you enough for your sermons each Sunday.
An amazing, simple yet deep and transformational homily on the importance of making Christ the King of our lives. Christ is a King that brings true joy and lasting freedom through his grace if we make him our King. He is a King like no other, he leads by example he teaches in the gospels and finally died a most horrible death on a roman cross, crowned mockingly with a crown of thorns. Yet despite what we humans did to him, He loves us and welcomes us to a friendship with him to help save the world. Make Christ the King of all your life and begin a new journey of meaning and transformation to help redeem the world, in our short time. Christs kingdom is not in this world, and thankfully with all the endless problems, lawlessness and death we see around us, there is a true kingdom waiting for us that is based on truth and love. God bless you all!
It's great! Something to think about constantly. It's my mission to live by. I want to share on Facebook and don't know how. Jesus is the reason I can bear my hardships and my happiness. I recognize he is present every time. I lost my daughter to a tragic murder a year ago and Friday my younger daughter got married. I thank God for being present. Jesus is King and I hope I can show my love to him always.
God bless and bear you up as you mourn your daughter's loss. I can't even imagine what that's like. But you have chosen the only Rock to lean on. As you long as you cling to Him you will be fine. Peace to you!
You hit the nail right on the head when you pointed out the intellectual issue. For instance, whenever I have discussions with atheists about their lack of faith and their reasons for why they left Christianity, their understanding of the faith is extremely limited.
Yes Bishop Barron Jesus is The Lord of my Life, King of the Universe, your Intelligence is Astounding Bishop Barron,Thank You , Jesus is 24-7 in my Life and The True Catholic Religion 🙏
Christ the King "invites" us to be in His Life and He in ours, he does not "impose" on us, We make that decision every hour of every day. Thank you Bishop Barron for reminding us to take the time to reflect on how we make Christ the King in all aspects of our life. Today we celebrate that reality. Wishing you all a very Blessed Thanksgiving, we give thanks for Bishop Barron.
Jeremiah said, there’s a fire shut up in my bones. There is potential, talent, increase that you haven’t tapped into yet. Start believing you’re a mighty hero. Get rid of those limiting thoughts. You and God are a majority. He’s calling you. Step out and get ready to see new levels, new friendships, new opportunities, new talents, new victories.
I was moved to tears with all the truth you're bringing to light. I so appreciate how the Catholic Church places reverence in understanding that Christ is King of our life. I was just meditating on Romans 8 this morning during my devotional time, and now you presented more enlightenment so succinctly on the point of that chapter. Thank you Bishop Barron.
Bishop Barron you are the man! Listening to you is almost meditative. Your voice is soothing but not boring. As a midwest girl, your Chicago "accent" is comforting, and you make these lessons relatable. Listening and learning from your videos and interviews has pushed me into the direction of converting. Thank you so much!
Thank you Bishop! This homily is powerful. Asserting Christ's authority in our lives and calling every Christian to actively "be subject to" Christ is a beautiful chastisement and a call toward the good order of God's will. Im thankful for your message as it calls me to correction.
Seared my soul! And now that part of my spirit convicted by a message of utter truth, delivered with such true love is newly awakened, and ready to grow again-with new information, a new focus on an old truth. The part about are you as fit as you can be? As a nearly 60 year old grandma I have certainly neglected my physical health. Thanks be to God I heard this message which gives me further motivation-a true blessing-to be more thoughtful about my food choices and physical activity level. And so much more. Hard truths once realized can be life changing!! Keep telling the truth, Bishop Barron, you have what it takes-a true charism- to change hearts not by “speaking truth to power” but by speaking powerfully about the Truth! (We need one like Bishop Sheen to continue to enliven sleeping consciences to a greater reality) This message which then in turn is spread by believers and people who hear it have greater ability to change other hearts toward a life filled with and motivated by Christ the King.❤️
The King of our lives sees us in our distress. He hears us when we call upon Him for help. I pray to cease not in prayer, for He is truly at hand helping us along the journey, which can be full of stumbling blocks. We may be hard on ourselves due to our shortcomings, but Christ came to lift us out of despair, which is sin. Thank you Bishop Barron for your insight and understanding of having a deep relationship with Christ that is nurtured through the sacraments.
We must aspire to be more like Jesus, praying, and fasting are very important but so is taking action. Jesus took action he performed so many miracles. He fed 5000 in John 6:5-14. Also known as the "miracle of the five loaves and two fish" Changing water into wine at Cana in John 2:1-11. These are just a few times Jesus took action. I took action I refused the vaccine because of my pre existing health condition (Lupus) and I was fired from my job of 13 years. I’m a single mother struggling to provide food, and shelter for my two children both of my sons are autistic, so my days may be more challenging than most mothers. We are not celebrating thanksgiving this year because honestly we can’t afford it. Even though i’m going through all these trials and tribulations I still have faith that God will provide! He will make away for me and my children! Amen!
Thank you Bishop Barron! I've been trying to live my life as an instrument of Christ's love for us. There are times when I've been luke warm and unsure of my Catholic faith. As I get older, I'm praying more and asking for guidance from the Almighty. I'm praying my sons return to the faith and I'm trying my best to be an example of that faith. I talk to God and try to give thanks everyday and throughout my day, "All for Jesus" is what I'll say to remind myself that I work for His glory and not my own. I'm far from perfect and have many, many flaws and at times feel as if I'm floundering not knowing His plan for me.
O Christ the King, give +Barron and his brothers more wisdom and courage to continue to speak the truth fearlessly. Help all of us to allow you rule EVERY aspect of our lives.
I have 1 young child and would love more. Unfortunately, modern society does not support economically or socially, more than 2-3 kids per family. Historically, mothers have had the support nesscary for large families in the form of multi-generational homes, and tight-knit communities to help with day to day activities and childcare. Now, parents are expected to bear most of these duties alone with almost no breaks, at the cost of our physical, emotional and spiritual health. As long as we are called by Christ to have large families, maintain rich meaningful friendships, and keep our bodies and minds healthy, Catholic parishes should be providing frequent family oriented programs that offer reliable support to families who need emotional or physical help. This will lead us all closer to Christ ❤
I needed to hear this, Bishop... As much as I love our Lord and Savior, he unfortunately has not been the King of my life... Pray for me as I pray for you. God Bless
Yes, to all of this, especially the part about not having our faith properly explained. I left the Catholic Church years ago because it felt like mindless rules and rituals.
Thank you very much indeed Bishop Barron ! You are very helpful for coming Christ close to my life ...
Yes Father, you speak with authority from God!
Christ is or he isn’t ! Jesus Christ My Savior 🙏 Amen 🙏 Jesus is EVERYTHING 💫🕊🙏
This was incredible, thank you so much!
No way around this . Peace and light to everyone. My dear Bishop Barron , my sympathies over the loss of your sister in law. I’m sorry.
You hit the nail right on the head when you pointed out the intellectual issue. For instance, whenever I have discussions with atheists about their lack of faith and their reasons for why they left Christianity, their understanding of the faith is extremely limited.
Wow. What a tremendous reminder of our need to commit to our faith.
Yes Bishop Barron Jesus is The Lord of my Life, King of the Universe, your Intelligence is Astounding Bishop Barron,Thank You , Jesus is 24-7 in my Life and The True Catholic Religion 🙏
Excellent homily. Greetings from the kingdom of Belgium. 😅
Fantastic thoughts thanks for sharing!
Amen! If you're not all in, you're not in at all.
Thank you Bishop Barron your powerful homily very informative to start the season of Advent. God Bless you from East London South Africa
Thank you so much Bishop Barron..!
Amen to that inspiring erudite sermon.
May our Lord Jesus help you in your journey to His Church. ……
Amen
That's an awesome Comment☆
Bless you, in a world full of pressures and speed, the Bishop bring clarity and pause, opening the messages of our Lord clearer and very practical.
You are all so nice thank you
Thank you Bishop! This homily is powerful. Asserting Christ's authority in our lives and calling every Christian to actively "be subject to" Christ is a beautiful chastisement and a call toward the good order of God's will. Im thankful for your message as it calls me to correction.
YESSSS HE IS MY LIFE,STRENGHT, & EVERYTHING,WTOUT HIM LIFE IS NOTHING, I LOVE HIM AM HAPPY CONTENTED EVER🤗🤗🎆
Beautiful. Thank-you! God bless!
(We need one like Bishop Sheen to continue to enliven sleeping consciences to a greater reality)
This message which then in turn is spread by believers and people who hear it have greater ability to change other hearts toward a life filled with and motivated by Christ the King.❤️
This was amazing - thank you Bishop!
Amen!
Praying for you and your sons. God bless you all.
Thank you Bishop Barron for this beautiful and meaningful teaching. This is what the world needs to hear and reflect. God bless you and more power.❤️🙏
Thank you Bishop Barron for this deep and thorough explanation on Christ The King.
Excellent. Thank you.
A homily or sermon that makes me uncomfortable is a very good homily/sermon. This one has pricked my conscience. Thank you, Bishop.
This is some real talk.
Thank you Bishop Barron! Jesus is the King of the Universe Amen Amen!
Really Great Sunday Sermon Your Excellency!
Amen, amen, AMEN! Thank you, Bishop Barron. Pax and blessings!
I needed to hear this, Bishop...
As much as I love our Lord and Savior, he unfortunately has not been the King of my life...
Pray for me as I pray for you.
