Air India Flight 182 plane crash in 1985. Flight 182 named Emperor Kanishka took off from Montreal in the early hours of 23 June 1985. The final destination was Mumbai, with stops at London and New Delhi.

The debris of Kanishka fell into the Atlantic Ocean about 190 kilometers off the coast of Ireland. All 329 passengers, including 22 crew, died. The remains of only 131 people were recovered. 278 of the dead were Canadian citizens, although the majority were of Indian origin. 27 British nationals and 24 Indians.
