I don't think any game will ever make me feel twhat I felt when the fleet came through the relay.
It was EPIC.
+Cuthbert Cream I agree. We need more fleets arriving in places, accompanied by epic music.
Berzerk Llama the ending was bullshit all your decision throughout the entire franchise leads you to 1 of 3 choices no matter what you do
Most of the decisions are mini decisions. As for the big choices, they are made at the very end. Don't see which part is bullshit. What would you have liked to see?
Age of Reason a minimum of 9 to 10 different endings where things that you did throughout the series actually count for how the story will end
Exaggerated satisfaction. This one finds this video to be awesome.
One of the greatest scenes in gaming. The thunder of the Turian cruiser guns, the sound of the Reapers being hit, the clatter of the Anti Fighter turrets. It's so nice.
One of the most epic gaming moments of all time ^^
Every Star in the sky is an ally.
You know, I have to say I was a little disappointed with the final segment of the game, I thought it would be like the assault on the Collector Base in ME2 where all your assets and teammates got put to use somehow (that list of war assets made for so many possibilities). Still, this is the coolest space battle I have ever seen.
LordFrostwind Apparently that WAS the original plan, but EA made everything go FUBAR because they wanted money quicker.
I'm glad they learned their lesson after this and DA2, you can't rush perfection.
ThatOnePsycho apparently they didn't learn their lesson just look at Mass Effect Andromeda as proof
Fleet arrives, and you get to do absolutely nothing with it.
Um, because Shepard had to get to beam on the ground to reach the Citadel?
You are finding an excuse within an existing story, while in reality it was a design decision. Developers made a choice not to let you control the fleet or batttle with it. And in my opinion it was a big mistake.
Except this late in the game, that would likely be such a massive shift in gameplay it would catch everyone off guard, and while I agree that implemented properly it would be awesome, if implemented poorly it would have been added onto the heap of shit that people bitched about involving the ending.
It does not fit with the theme and gameplay of the rest of the series at all. Just stfu and enjoy a great game
I agree there needed to be more interactivity during the final battles. Would have also been nice to be able to call in allies on the ground and make tactical decisions. Other than the end though I enjoyed the rest of the game.
Go team Milky Way!
HUMAN, YOU'VE GOT NOTHING ON TEAM DARK SPACE. YOU'RE BUT SPECKLED DUST FIGHTING AGAINST A GALACTIC WIND.
Awesome. But I bet the Reapers are pretty happy, "It's always so much easier when they all get together and come at you at once."
Uhh no. Quite the opposite. They tried their best to avoid this outcome. They want to separate the enemy's forces and fight them on the Reapers' terms. When all the fleets come at once like this, the Reapers are *guaranteed* to lose multiple capital ships. You even see one of them taking heavy damage and getting a tentacle shot off. That one's already dead. They rely on their shields for almost everything. You saw what a single disruptor torpedo from the Normandy, a single little frigate, did to Sovereign once its shields dropped. Sovereign was OBLITERATED by one good shot from a ship smaller than its goddamn foot. Once their shield goes down, they're toast.
The Reapers were set back hundreds of thousands, if not MILLIONS of years by this battle. They're immortal and patient beyond human comprehension. They were most certainly not happy to lose a bunch of capital ships and a what must've been an assload of destroyers just to get the resistance down in one fight.
So please tell me I'm not the only one who lost their shit when they saw the Destiny Ascenion. I think my exact words were "Holy Shit it's the destiny ascension!"
Erik Weldon Well, this guy's game shows a generic Asari ship, but if you choose to save the council in Mass Effect 1, the Destiny Ascension takes it's place.
It's not the Destiny Ascension! The big tip on the top of the D.A as shown in M.E 1 is not there... I think it's just an average Asari ship.
When i play the game till this part, i was having goosebumps all over my body, i couldn't get enough of this scene, I LOVE IT!
The reapers are to OP in my opinion... So difficult to take down a single one. The Thresher maw made it look easy though :p
Kalros took down a destroyer, not a capital ship. Look at this size comparison chart to see the difference between a capital ship and a destroyer: www.deviantart.com/euderion/art/Mass-Effect-Comparison-Reaper-to-Buildings-485536298
The destroyer is smaller than the capital ship's "foot". They's like bugs compared to capital ships.
just realized the name of the ship foreshadowed this scene since the beginning of mass effect 1 !! mind blown
When all the fleets fly through the relay, it reminds me of the Riders of Rohan from LoTR Return of the King.
So awesome.
THIS SCENE.
They would not have needed the crucible if it was something like: Empire's fleet reporting, Imperium's fleet reporting, UNSC fleet reporting.
+Daniel Lincoln-Smith You are infact right and wrong at the same time, pre-war the UNSC fleet would have stomped the reapers, having a massive amount of ships, you gotta think in most naval engagements they outnumbered the Covenant 3-1 and still lost, post-war they would still smash a huge amount of reapers but their Navy was severely depleted and most ships left were frigates or were single/limited production super heavy capital ships like the infinity.
+knight11456 The Covenant Navy is needed to fuck up the Reapers. Also the Empire
+Daniel Lincoln-Smith Top of the morning my good fellow,, But I must ask ask you to please go fuck yourself. Good day sir.
"That is why, Serviceman Chaung, you do not 'EYEBALL IT'!"
Just imagine this music in the background while playing sins of a solar empire rebellion, as your ships arrive in a gravity well to aid your home world with your TITAN in the fleet of capital ships, frigates, corvettes and fighters. Just EPIC.
The ship that shot off the legs of the Reaper at 2:55 should have fired one more shot, destroying the Reaper.... that would''ve been awesome. Then again, Commander Shepards ''Fire at will'' tactic is bullshit. If the entire fleet focussed fire at one Reaper at a time, they'd destroy dozens in a matter of minutes. But then again... again.... Shepard didn't need to destroy them that way. He needed the fleet to distract the Reapers while he went down to Earth to open the Citadel.
Still a bullshit strategy from shepard... Take out one reaper at a time, or maybe even split the fleet in 4 parts: 3 focus their fire on three different reapers (I mean there are more ships than ever before ina single place, and you were able to destroy a reaper with only alliance or only turian fleets), the last quarter makes suppressive fire on all other reapers.
I mean it was never safe that the crucible would work. That was a giant gamble. And yes, maybe a conventional war would have no chance at all. But at least you weaken the reapers for future cycles. They can only rebuild one main reaper a cycle as far as i know. Because they choose humans as the only viable race to build one. Or am i wrong
@@godmode8687 They did focus fire on individual reapers at a time, that was why their formation was so tight going into earth. And if you recall Mass Effect 1, the ENTIRE fifth fleet couldn't even scratch Sovereign until its kinetic barriers were forcibly shut down, the only reason that Turian and Alliance cruiser was able to hurt that reaper was because the initial salvos from the fleets took down its barriers.
This is most epic moment in the video game history ever !
+Jakub Bojanowski (NASA Lies) -- Until Star Citizens SQ42 Episode 1 will launch :D
One of the most awesome moments in gaming, overshadowed by the most disappointing endings in gaming.
Played it the last time in 2013 but still the same feeling when i first saw this sequence. Just epic
I'm still bothered knowing the fact that a Reaper Destroyer is smaller than most of the ships in this scene.
@@rebel1717 Not really. The Codex makes it clear that in a 1v1 fight, a council cruiser, while at a disadvantage, can win consistently against Reaper Destroyers. A large enough fighter swarm can also achieve the same goal.
@@attackmaster519 I like that. There's no BS plot armor, no invincible shields. The Reapers are terrifying, but they can be killed by more than P L O T.
and all those missed shots impact earth n flatten half of the planet right? lol
@@zakariasuper4094 shots from dreadnaughts and cruisers are used to bombard planets tho in the lore, and the lore states for space combat to avoid aiming at planets due to this, but why necro a 4 year old post XD
to quote the codex: The Citadel Conventions prohibit the use of large kinetic impactors against habitable worlds. In a straight-on attack, any misses plough into the planet behind the defending fleet. If the defenders position themselves between the attackers and the planet, they can fire at will while the attacker risks hitting the planet.
I havent seen better cutscene in my life. AWSOME !!
It doesn't matter how many times I play through this bit, I still feel an overwhelming surge of pride when the fleets start coming in en mass
Where is a death star when you actually need it?
Those are Quarian liveships (2 left, as Adm. Korris' vessel rammed the Geth Surface - Space cannon)
Junn Stormgrin forget the death star. I watch a anime called Knights of sindona. Theu have weapons that would kill a reaper in one shot. I suggest watching it
The entire battle of Earth at the end of ME3 is just...the best payoff and ending for this trilogy I could ever have conceived. I don't and never will get how people can get so damn pissed at ME3 when it was as good or better than its predecessors. *Combined*.
it more the the war asset mean nothing and colour of your ending then the fleet battle itself
Dam, you've got to applaud and give HUGE credit to Bioware for giving us amazing moments such as this! The music makes the experience all the better! This had to be the most iconic scene I have ever seen in any movie or game! THANK YOU BIOWARE! I really hope that they add on this space battle with the Extended Cut DLC!
Regardless of the endings, this is still one of the most epic moments in gaming history for me.
hate the game, fucking adore this god-damn epic cutscene! Best warp scene EVER!
I never get sick of watching this.
I get the chills everytime I watch this...
"I'm The Normandy SR2, and I spearhead the largest goddamn fleet in galactic history"
"On my command, engage the Reaper forces"
"Uhm, commander Shepard, what exactly have we been doing just now?"
you know ending controversy or not, this shows that this series has created a new sci fi universe that people fell in love with and will always remember. im glad to be part of a generation where a whole new universe, and the stories that come along with it, grows upon itself. now i know what it must have felt like for star wars fans when it first came out. can't wait to see what comes from this.
I love it how there's sound in space.
''Hey Harbinger, missed me? I've brought some friends!''
That first 30 seconds, the music, cinematic fantastic gives me goosebumps everytime.
Wish everything else after this was half as epic ;[
I get cold chills every time i see this.
I remember getting goosebumps when I was playing through this
That gave a good chuckle right there, good one.
In ME1 you were also told by Vigil that they managed to sabotage the signal so that it wouldn''t work in the next cycle.
Dem feels, dem chills O_o
When I first saw this,I felt amazing, and had chills down my spine.
It was truly getting everyone. (Even thoses goddamn krogans >.
One of the best cutscenes ever.
A five to ten minute scene with this space battle (and deciding on your EMS if its low or high enough) ending with the Reapers being destroyed or the fleet is destroyed would have been a perfect ending.
Remember both the Quarians and the Geth lost a lot ships when the Quarians tried to retake Rannoch.
Plus, the Humans, Asari, and Turians all lost a bunch of ships as well when they were individually fighting the Reapers. Admiral Hackett even says he had to sacrifice an entire fleet just to get the remaining fleets to safety.
I just love the symbolic position of the Normandy. We're the spearhead of the biggest fleet the galaxy has ever seen.
Stand Strong Stand Together
Another point worth mentioning is that when Sovereign was up against the Alliance fleet it wasn't JUST that one reaper. It was the Reaper plus a HUGE Geth flleet.
The Fleet Arrives
With epic scenes like that, they should have put more thought into the ending. While reading about black holes and using them to travel in time using wormholes, I had a cool idea for the ending. The device they were building at the end was a time machine. Every civilization harvested had sent their last fleets into a time loop, waiting for someone to build the summoning device before they are harvested, giving the assembled fleets a chance to destroy the Reapers. The epic scale would have been off the chart!
can't think of a better space battle i have ever seen!
goosebumps everywhere!
How about we all just sit back, and marvel at how awesome of a cutscene this is.
Quarians grow their own food. This is what "lifeships" are for. As for Tali and Garrus, Normandy has crionic chambers where they can wait for help (if any of the techs survived, they can pull off some miracles as they usually do, and Normandy has quantum entanglement comm to the fleet HQ so range shouldn't be a problem for communication at least.)
Truly every star in the sky is your ally.
Even though there is no fire, smoke, or sound in Space this cut scene is still cool!
I didn't say include them in the cutscene. I was saying that joker didn't mention them so they never arrived.
given how much the players invested themselves emotionally throughout the 3 games and seeing the galaxy unite to fight this threat, yes, it is the most epic scene in video game history.
that made my day
Thank you, bioware. You gave us the most epic space battle of all time, and you've just saved the trilogy with the extended cut.
Love how Joker just shot down that drone like it wasn't even worth his time.
When Mr. Vakarian finishes calibrating the thanix cannons we've covered every ship in the fleet with, I will feel very sorry for your exoskeletons.
TYVM for uploadin this scene, i was waitin for this moment wen i clocked me2 i jazz my pants wet. Srry if i get a hardon for orbital ship warfare
THE DALEK FLEET IS STANDING BY!
i still have chills when i see this even if i watch this te 10. time
Loved this scene but did anyone else think that having some vocals to this musical climax would have made it absolutely perfect?
"That is why you check your damn targets! That is why you wait for the computer to give you a damn firing solution!"
-Gunnery chief (Mass Effect 2)
Well yes, but if it is about complete defeat or complete victory, why wait for correct calculations? Maybe half of earth is now only desert. But if they loose humans on earth are all dead within a year anyway. So better spam thoose shots
Are those 4 large blue shots that you see at the 1:38 mark blasts from thanix cannons?
The largest fleet in the galaxy, and the Reapers still wiped their asses with it!
The most epic scene in video game history!
Lol that's why I hope they add on this scene in the Extended Cut DLC. I hope it shows all of the main War Assets you collect throughout the game just as you said!
This reminded me so much of star wars episode 3
It would've been cool to see the fight on Earth as well. The huge arachnid Queen fighting a Reaper, all the mercenaries working together to take out husks. A group of krogans charging at some Ravagers. This scene is still amazing none the less
It's also stated that each cycle yields ones capital (unique) class reaper that is unique in shape, and 10 'sovereign clone' class reapers from the non-dominant races. So the number is closer to 220,000 reapers. While it may be a fallacy of conveyance to not give the feeling that there are that many reapers, the numbers are there
No air molecules = no sound. When I was a kid, I thought sound just bounced off other forms of matter, after watching Star Wars. I couldn't really figure it out until I reached high school in my physics course.
I wish the last battle was as epic as the Omega 4 Relay battle. Two will always be my favorite.
Best moment in gaming history
There are few things I'd love more than a Wing Commander style game set in Mass Effect.
i loved the game up until last 15 minutes. and this cut scene was pretty powerful imo
Greatest. Space battle. Ever!
I just wish it was 30 minutes longer.
In my fix fic, the Catalyst simply strips the Reapers of their biggest advantage, their nigh impenetrable kinetic barriers. Once that happens, the fleet starts taking down the Reapers one by one (with huge casualties but still) and the Reapers make a run for it, only to see the Charon relay cold, since the Alliance now controls the Citadel. The fleet jumps on the runners and finishes them off. It is not the end of the war, but a huge turning point.
this video is dang good coupled with the song "two steps from hell"
true but iirc there was mention in game about sound simulators fitted to the citadel dock maybe ships have them too :p
Simply. Epic. I got fucking goosebumps, and that doesnt happen to me overy often...
I would of loved for there to be a chance where we as the players got to fight in that space battle..hey maybe in mass effect 4 we might.
Must've been one hell of a feeling for joker being at the head of the biggest fleet in the universe... And for Shepard of course.. but you know Shepard. He'll always be the Shepherd
Its Super Effective!
Sometimes I take fleets of ships from other scifi games, movies, shows and stuff and imagine them also flying in this superfleet. I imagine a particularly large Covenant fleet from the Halo universe being apart of that fleet. I'd love to see how a Covenant supercarrier would fair against a reaper.
In my opinion, the most bad ass moment in the entire series
Agreed. I ended up crying as I watched this and had to pause for while and collect myself.
Good point. I believe Javik said something about their single force being a liability, and once the Reapers exploited that, they couldn't adapt. He did also say that they indoctrinated a lot of Protheans to ruin secret plans and such.
Yes, you see 4 shoot just atfer joker says "Preparing for descent".
If you upgraded the Normandy, it shoot with the Tanix guns (blue), and if you didn't, it shoot space torpedos.
What I'm saying is that military structure would still be held together even though the Citadel was under Reaper control. The reason for this is not every Admiral, General, Secretary of Defense for the Protheans would have been on the Citadel; the losses would have been recuperated and the military hierarchy reestablished; and so henceforth resistance, but also the accretion of the Prothean fighters would have been exponential due to rebellions from the races within the Prothean Empire.
This was basically Return of the Jedi.....ON CRACK! This scene was so freaking epic it gave me chills just watching all of those ships coming out of FTL and knowing you had a chance to finish this....but alas.
This is probably the most badass space battle in science fiction. Dwarfing the battle of Endor.
it's so badass how normandy leads the whole galactic fleet.
No other ship deserves the honor more
