hi Chris bought same tractor no start cranking need info where & which manual for JD5400N cab you got ,need shift lever diagram also no marking on my tractor missing ,please let me know. thx in advance
The best place I could find was from John Deere. It may be a little pricey but your getting the exact manual for the tractor. Got to the link attached. Put in the model number of your tractor. It will bring up manuals. If you have any issues I’d recommend contacting your local dealer to find out the exact manual you’ll want. I bought the operators manual and general repair manual. I believe there is one more manual I’ll get which is specifically for the drivetrain. techpubs.deere.com/en-US/Search/Equipment
I was looking at a 5400 that is at an auction. There was a video of the tractor in action. Forward there is no whining sound, in reverse there is. I was looking at some other 5400 videos and some make the whining sound in reverse, some do not.
Mine has a conventional manual transmission. I have to push the clutch to get in and out of gear. It has park, 1,2,3,R shifter on my right and then a low medium high ranger on the left. What trans did the tractor have?
The 5400 I’m looking at has A, B, C and a turtle on the left. 1,2,3, and 4 on the right. To the left of the steering column it has park, neutral, forward and reverse selection.
The 5400 you were looking at has a hydraulic reverser transmission. Being that it uses hydraulic to run you’ll probably get some weird noises when in gear. Kind of like the hydrostatic transmission compact tractors.
The 3070 Massey Ferguson is an auto tropics. When something brakes down it's a nightmare to diagnose the problem.
To farm 200 acres is a dream of mine.
Not that I know a lot about equipment but I’ve never heard of auto tropics.
@@showmerepair autotronics
It keeps correcting my spelling
@@munemrabadi809 autotronics sounds like it would be expensive

I farm just under 200 acres, I keep the 1020, 3020 and 4024 jd and the 3070 Massey Ferguson.
Internal lug on switch isn't. making contact inside switch
Yea. I meant to show adjusting the linkage for the pto that fixed the problem
Does your 5400 make a whining sound in reverse?
No. Does it have when moving or when you shift into reverse?
