can we just appreciate the emperor's blade? even if they're an 'enemy', they're still one of humanities strongest protector. instead of drown in those demonic power they always control and resist it, never forgetting that they're human and exists for the glory of their nation. they're also not just some stupid OP military experiment but also a very keen observer of their nation's problems, very reasonable with great intellect and if they could solve a problem quietly they will always prefer that instead rampaging and drown in those power. thus why i always love militaristic approach to power balance in fantasy story instead of hero focused one, bcs that power can be replicated along with the same level of intellect/wisdom. military power > anything else
You especially see this kind of power dialectic play out in stories like Attack on Titan, where the overwhelming power of a single protagonist is placed against the background of a militaristic cast who must utilize other means that aren't privileged to them like the hero. There's a surprisingly emancipatory message to that which we don't usually see often with depictions of military actors in stories. A lot of the times they're portrayed as the true tyrants, but if anything it's actually the heroes who end up possessing the true form of aristocratic detachment. Militarism is the way the common people can counteract that kind of force. That's an internal tension I feel is actually gradually building up in this game's story. Amiya is already prophesied to be the formidable Demon King who will usher in the apocalypse with the kind of power she holds in herself like an absolute monarch, so it's only a matter of time before the contradiction between her cause and her own position of power becomes the forefront of the game's main conflict.
@@Synodalian this. and after learning lowlight said that arknight is about "humanity's eternal struggle against god" whether it's their whimsical and overpowering nature or the nature of terra that's so discriminating and can be considered a God's design, the militiarism and struggle to get into that point is just even more relevant. tho just like what kal said, in the end there's no really the right or correct way of doing things. all the problems in terra will still exist even when the power balance is fully controlled by military and there's no nobility to rule over them, and many kings and queens have showed how game changing they are and not stuck at the noble games even when most of them defeated at the end, thus the eternal struggle

I don't think those two were as strong as the one Kal fought though. Pursuer is one of the survivors of the Valley of the Setting Sun, a battle that killed MANY Emperor's Blades. Patriot even told the two that showed up in R8-11 that they are young, inexperienced, and nowhere near as strong as their predecessors that fought in the Valley of the Setting Sun.
Every Doctor who've reached this part of the story: This sounds... like fear and terror... and yet... why? Why do I feel my heart thumping? Is this... excitement?
I could see maybe The Jester or The Captain go toe-to-toe. But everyone else has no chance. A single Emperor's Blade has a shard of an actual demon inside that they control at will. Let alone an entire army.
