This is one of the most heart felt movies that I have seen !! Loved it and bought it !! Watched it several times !! The acting elicited feelings for all involved !! Well done each and everyone !!
I agree this is a very beautiful movie! I bought it because I watch it over and over. Nicole Conn’s movies are very emotional and full Of depth. Her characters are amazing. She’s like a female Spielberg! As bout time we now have finally gotten a great writer, editor, director and producer. Old Clint is gonna have some competition! He’s the best there is and now we have Conn!

Hi Vicky! @Thelma Davis No hon I'm still waiting to actually have it confirmed. I have spent the past 2 weeks packing up the old premises but all done there now. 😘💖
It’s a shame it didn’t do it for you but it’d be boring if we all loved the same things. Hopefully her next film whatever it may be will be more to your tastes. Personally I loved it (except the dancing, I’m not a dance person!) take care and stay safe and ty for commenting Nina 😉
I feel just the opposite! This is the pinnacle of her films. The cinematography was beautiful. The little boy was fantastic in that role. It was lovely how he brought his mom & Max together. The leads had wonderful chemistry. The dance/love scene was EXQUISITE; it's my fave love scene ever. I love that the actress who plays Samantha did the choreography. I've watched that scene over & over. The way Sam kept grabbing Max's hair, her facial expressions, the way she pulls Max's shirt off & throws it behind her, the editing b/t the dancing & the bed scenes, and that AMAZING, beautiful score was all SO SENSUOUS & visually gorgeous!! I truly loved all the hands in the hair (you almost NEVER see that!) & that when they kissed they didn't just cup each other's face like so many other female couples in TV & film, even couples I like. I often prefer tastefully done love scenes to more explicit ones where I feel like I'm watching soft porn. That's why I never got into The L Word. The love scene in "More Beautiful" was right in the Goldilocks zone. The leads were natural together. Nothing was rushed. I felt the emotional import. It felt intimate, not like I was just watching bodies. It was passionate. I loved details, like the way Samantha's hair is so messed up in that last shot of them in bed! LOL It was art, not salacious. Of course, I just skipped right over the FBI story b/c I didn't care about it. I only cared about the 3 main characters, although I did watch all of Gabrielle Christian's scenes b/c Gabrielle Christian. Nicole's movies are not known for their spectacular storylines. The plot of A Perfect Ending was flimsy as hell. Every movie I'd seen of hers felt like it was just an excuse to show explicit sex scenes except for the marriage equality short, "She 4 Me" w/ Gabrielle Christian, Nicole Pacent, & Barbara Nivens. I can't even remember the plot of Claire of the Moon. I don't think I EVER knew the plot. I was young & horny & watched it for the sex scenes. Now I'm old, still horny, but want a good love story w/ character growth & this movie delivered that. It was such a tender moment to see Samantha, described as "made of steel & strawberries" & as someone who "doesn't buckle", fall against Max's shoulder, crying, & then see her knees actually buckling when they were kissing. To see how HAPPY she was after she & Max became intimate, being such a contrast to how uptight & guarded & protective of Freddie in their early scenes. She looked so beautiful & relaxed in the scenes after the love scene (until shit hit the fan again). Her physical transformation was remarkable. She was all smiles & glowing. But also seeing the relationship develop so gradually was beautiful. You understood WHY they loved each other, which is really important in making a story believable. "More Beautiful..." also wasn't ABOUT their sexual orientation or sexuality. You could have swapped out the 2 women w/ a man & a woman or 2 men, just like in D.E.B.S., which is an indication that we have ARRIVED & our films are about things other than coming out, gay panic, or facing rejection & bigotry. It wasn't an identity crisis for either of them. They bonded over their mutual love for Freddie & the love they saw the other give to him. And there were many moments that moved me to tears, like when he & his mom wake up from the nightmare & he explains that Max needs to go to her safe place a lot, like a lot a lot, and she doesn't have anyone to make her feel safe. OMG, I started sobbing NOW just from REMEMBERING that scene! And also near the end of the film, I broke down in tears when he talked about how much he loved Max. I loved how he wanted his mom to be happy & he wanted someone there to take care of her & he brought them together b/c he "knows things". OMG, this was a DEEP, MOVING, POWERFUL, VISUALLY STUNNING movie. It was so good that I could never have guessed it was a Nicole Conn film. While the love scene was the pinnacle of the movie, this was a MAINSTREAM audience film, not just a lesbian film. It was about this remarkable, insightful child who brought these 2 women together & taught important lessons to those he encountered. I loved the recurring phrase, "I know things." I'd recommend this movie to ANYONE, which I can't say about any other Nicole Conn film. (Significantly edited 18 Aug 2020 w/ more edits to come b/c I thought of something I wanted to add & thought of better ways to say things. Just saving it now so my work isn't lost.) I do have some criticisms, though. HERE BE SPOILERS.... Max having a fling w/ the mom 10 years earlier, even if it only lasted a week, was totally unnecessary & was the only thing I truly DIDN'T like about the film. It made Max seem easy & made me suspicious about her commitment to Samantha, but maybe that's what it was intended to do. I really hated that Max kept putting off telling Samantha the truth about why she was there & her affair w/ Vivian. The narration was also a weak point, partly b/c it wasn't needed & partly because it changed from the third person to the first person, which is what really bugged me. The only time it was REALLY effective was in the final scenes when it's clearly Freddie's voice, but that could have been done exactly the same way, w/ the same powerful effect, if that was the first time a narrator's voice was heard. I also could have done w/ much shorter scenes of Max looking through the window watching Sam dance and of the bar scene. And I wish there had been NO Vivian & Max flashbacks whatsoever. Even the photo creeped me out. Partly b/c Vivian was such a mess & not attractive at all & it made no sense for them to be "lovers", however briefly. Gross. I think that whole subplot was detrimental to the movie & Max's character. But then again, I just FF through things I don't like, so maybe that was more important to the story than I realize. It could have been enough for the mom to be paranoid about Max being an undercover FBI agent there to investigate her, leading to Sam discovering Max had not been forthright w/ her AGAIN, which made Sam's walls go right back up. Having the twist of discovering that Vivian was Sam's mom was OK. It at least showed how utterly alone Sam was when Freddie was born & hovering near death for so long. I was glad to see Vivian at the end finally having her shit together & trying to fix the messes she'd made, though. She was so much more attractive when she was calm & wasn't controlled by her demons.
Thank you so much Donna for sharing all your thoughts with us it really was an interesting read, I very much enjoyed it. It’s wonderful when a film, tv show or book can really touch someone, especially for me as I rarely think about why I enjoy something I simply accept that I do despite the fact I’m a big reader and thinker of other stuff! Have a lovely rest of your week 😘
