When I was growing up we never missed watching Jack at our house. Gosh I miss the days when television was good. Today it's a waste of time. Of course we had the greatest entertainers of all time. It's hard to wrong when you have that kind of talent. I'm glad you can see it again on UA-cam and DVD collections. It's like a visit from an old friend you haven't seen in years.
I remember when all the weekly shows put on "Christmas episodes". This stopped when reruns became popular because they didn't want to do shows that were season specific. Then in later years, it was avoided so as to not 'offend' any one. I have diaries listing all the variety specials that came on the 3 weeks prior to Christmas. Sometimes we'd watch 3-4 in one evening. I am a senior now, and alone and Christmas can be a difficult time. I wish all these types of shows were part of current Christmas festivities but at least I can watch the old ones on You Tube.
Like you, I am older now and I can recall waiting all year to see certain Christmas shows. If you missed them, you were out of luck and had to wait till next year. I understand Christmas can be difficult and lonely for many, so I just want to tell you, you are not alone. Should you like to chat with someone, well, I'm someone. If I could work my will, I'd crawl into these shows and start life anew. Such an innocent feeling, such an innocent time. Merry Christmas to you, and to whom ever posted this video, Thank you and God bless!
Well I must be in your age group as well because I recall all those things too. I like coming to UA-cam and watching the old shows also. Especially the holiday ones. I'm alone at holidays now also. This will be my sixth Christmas by myself. I keep my time filled up as much as I can Christmas Day. I'll get up and watch Miracle on 34th Street with Natalie Wood when she was such a cute little girl. Then watch White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Then it's about lunch time followed by a nap. Listen to some Christmas music by Bing,Frank Sinatra, Perry Como. Starts getting dark early so I get out the old home movies from the 1950s and view them hours. Have some Pumpkin pie sit back and look at The Christmas Tree. I have old vintage bubble lights that I just stare at. Before bedtime I'll watch some of those old Christmas Specials on UA-cam. Merry Christmas.
Bs! The 3 networks ONLY 3 STATIONS! IN MOST OF America. And we're pavloved into this fallacy world of god. To keep us ignorant and ready for war. Only republicans were offended because they couldn't keep shoving jesus down our throats!
Mr. Benny was so lucky to have done this show in the 50s, when you could wish someone a Merry Christmas without fear of being branded some sort of heinous criminal by the freaks, fools, and felons who are now running our country-right into the ground,

I have watched four times since Chritsmas…and always laughed. Thanks Jack!
I've seen the Chistmas shopping one a lot of times but never this. Classic.
Mr. Scortachini, actually Thurl Ravenscroft, with the Sportsman was the singer for the 1966 How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
He was also one of the original "Sportsmen" before he joined the "Mellomen" quartet.
Thank you for pointing that out.
He was also Tony the Tiger in the old Kellogg ads. And he’s one of the ghost quartet in Disneylands Haunted Mansion
One of the 20th century's comedy greats.
Originally telecast on December 18, 1955.

They can only control what we allow, so in keeping with the season, Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!
year?
My guess would be around 1956
Live TV. The stage hand was caught behind Don Wilson as he introduced the closing commercial.

That was the "Christmas Shopping" episode {refilmed from a live 1957 episode}.
