Exploring Birr Barracks with Stephen Callaghan - Episode 1 - Introduction

Stephen Callaghan is a military historian with a particular interest in Birr Barracks. As part of the Decade of Centenaries programme in Offaly, Stephen worked with Hello Camera in Birr to develop a series of videos to provide information about the barracks which was handed over on 6 February 1922 to the Irish Free State and subsequently burnt in July 1922 during the Civil War.

Hello from Australia, My Great Grandfather x 3, William Nicholson was appointed Barrack Sergeant at Brill Barracks in 1824 and my Great Grandmother & her sister (Jane & Margaret Nicholson) were born whilst he was stationed there. I can find no records of his time there, are you able to help? Thank you
