My family and I visited this plantation. When my feet hit that soil I cried uncontrollably. It's a strong spirit of our ancestors on that plantation. I can't even began to imagine what took place on that plantation.
I refuse to visit these evil places for that reason 😢
Good, stay in the ghetto @@Jstwatching
I love these videos about plantation homes. Alway so beautiful I know the times were hard then and I wouldn't have wanted to live then .but the places are beautiful and I live the trees with the moss hanging from them .oh heck I love it all .thanks for sharing.
So true! I couldnt handle no a/c
My 7th great-grandfather, Thomas Lynch Sr., owned this plantation, and it was built for him by his son. My 6th great-grandmother (his daughter), Elizabeth (Lynch) Hamilton married Revolutionary War Major. James Hamilton (my 6th great-grandfather), and they settled on Rice Hope Plantation in Berkeley, South Carolina not too far away. Love this video, and so glad the house is still preserved!!!
Elizabeth’s mother was Hannah Motte (my 7th great-grandmother), who’s father was the Charleston treasurer Jacob Motte. Jacob Motte, my 8th great-grandfather, owned Mount Pleasant Plantation in Charleston County. According to my DNA test, Thomas Lynch Sr. was Irish, English, Dutch, and Belgian; and Hannah Motte was French with distant nobility.
That’s awesome! We’re related! I’m related to Hamilton’s on a different family line on my grandfathers side. My grandmother was a Lynch, who’s grandfather moved to Northwest Arkansas from South Carolina. This was around 1800. Jonack Lynch is my 8th great grandfather, who emigrated from Kent, England to South Carolina after being expelled from Ireland. The Lynch’s were a powerful family in Galway, Ireland. There were 84 Lynch mayors over time. The Lynch Castle still stands today and operates as a bank. Fascinating history! What I don’t understand is, why Thomas Lynch Jr isn’t considered a third. His grandfather was also named Thomas. Jonack Lynch would’ve been his 2nd great grandfather.
That’s not that awesome tbh.
I see the joggling board you're standing next to in the beginning of your video. Every South Carolina Plantation I've visited has one ,usually near the porch. I love Georgetown, it's a beautiful area, rich in history. Thanks Tony for taking us with you 😊
early form of entertainment..lol
Been by there many times on my boat. The view from the river is amazing.
Wow - Cool !!
Thank you for sharing !
This is one of my favorite videos so far. I have softened wanted to visit this one but never got to. Thanks for sharing and the history lesson
Glad you enjoyed it! The tour guide, Bambi ,she said it was cute when she was a little girl no so when she was a marine. She had a lot of good stories.
This was very interesting and educational. I loved seeing the interior of the main house.
Wow ,what a loveley house.
I kind of like it too. Thanks for watching
Thank you for all the wonderful information in all your videos! My husband and I enjoy watching. We're planning on visiting a few of the places you've been, especially the CSS Neuse.
Have fun!
@@CAROLINATONY thank you
Pretty place 😊
It is amazing how the wood detail for it time. We have machines to cut it now, chalk and pain it to match. Makes me wonder how they did it back then
Another great history lesson Tony very intricate work on the inside of that house beautiful thanks for taking us along hope you’re doing well brother
@@joejeffers2406 When I start my youtube channel, it will be some history, all over the country and as I travel over seas. I also will ad fishing trips, do it your self things that I am interested in. CT does a good job, I enjoy watching his channel
skilled craftsman for sure
Thanks Joe. You would believe the mosquitos outside. I walked across the grass and there were hundreds on me. The tour guide gave me some spray
@@CAROLINATONY out of respect, I would not cross swords with you. I enjoy you videos. If you can contact me on a personnel level, I have a lot of day trips just as a suggest for you. As you said, you were looking for new places
Thank you for sharing! I plan on taking my family there to visit. Thomas Lynch Sr is my 1st cousin 8 times removed, and Jr is my 2nd cousin 7 times removed. Parts of the family settled here in Northwest Arkansas. Jonack Lynch is my 8th great grandfather, who emigrated to South Carolina from England.
Make sure you do the Gilla tour that is offered as well.
Gullah
Thank you so much for the shout out Tony! I love watching your videos! Keep up the good work!
You are so welcome
I've always wanted to visit a plantation but haven't made it yet. I'm gonna start with Brattonsville since it's not far from me..... I have always loved the wallpaper and beds they used to use. This whole place is beautiful and the history is very interesting, though of course some of it is sad, it would be a great learning experience.
You should! we used to do a civil war re enactment there every year. It was one of my favorites.
Great tour of the plantation and it’s history. Up to 20 people living in that small cabin😳 no pot to whiz in and no windows to throw it out of, just holes with shutters. Nice video 😊👍💕
Exactly!
I toured this place and loved it. I did not hear about the thoughts on George Washington vs Marion
Very informative
Thank You
Thanks for watching
Interesting vlog Tony. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure
I can appreciate this tour guides high opinion of The Swamp Fox but she did not elaborate and give evidence of her negative statements concerning the lack of capabilities of General Washington.
she did say he didnt win as many battles and had make mistakes. I probably cut it out due to background noise.
Been to that plantation, did you do a video of Georgetown? Georgetown done a really great job rebuilding there town after the steel mill was shut down
I hope that you were able to meet Jonah and Augusta, they're my family ❤
The only one I remember was Bambi. Thanks for watching
@@CAROLINATONY oh ok, I have never met her. If you're up in York County, please come see the reopened Brick House at Historic Brattonsville, it's really nice 👌
I always love your videos! I'm happy to support ❤
