Hello again Question, how would you word this i magine it isnt just yeah i made my own home network and ive completed a ctf tournament. Would it be bullet pointed like -Knowledge and hands on experience with creating private networks -Experience in network traffic analysis -Created and managed a virtual honeypot -Experience in Malware analysis within a secure virtual machine
as a cybersecurity student, whenever i watch your videos and my parents or someone else fall on me and see your face ... they got lots of things coming to their minds 😂
Hey Man, I found your videos both east to follow and inspiring , thanks for making something like cyber security available to the average joe. Thanks for the road map and enthusiasms. Due to injury I have had to switch careers and you sir have turned a logger to an aspiring soc analyst. Thanks man your changing lives.
After passing my sec+ I have my first interview for system administration. I definitely learn a lot from your videos on what to do to separate yourself from others such as these projects. Definitely going to look into building a SIEM
Bro Please make a video about difference methods to make undetectable payload requesting to you as a beginner in Ethical Hacking field. not such as msfvenom, veil etc. These tools are not working for me, If there is any way to customise these payload to undetectable.... Please Make a video about it ❤
A dumb question... How do I add those types of projects to my GitHub. I only have experience of pushing the code to GitHub but not..something like setting up network or honeypot. Could you elaborate how you would do that? I see 'Projects' section where I can list steps taken in the project but I am not sure if that is what you meant. Or did you mean uploading a pcap file?
i literally landed my first cyber security job from doing a home lab and documentation every step explaining in depth what the tool does recommended highly (fyi - was to broke to get certs, so im certless)
As someone who started “MyComputerCareer” a month ago, this video is legendary. I’ve got the passion, I just wasn’t really sure what a cybersecurity portfolio actually looked like. Thank you so much for this!
I'm curious also. I'm supposed to start with them in April but I started looking at reviews and the people that loved it, LOVE IT and the ones that hated the program, REALLY hated it.
"We're looking for highly skilled, extreme motivated, sane psychopath" - every recruitment to SEC in 2024. I mean, where are the old-school bonus points for paranoia?
Hello Sir @Mad Hat. I have been a network engineer for almost 9 years with firewall, linux and python (Network Automation) experience. Do you think is it good to transition or to get a job as cyber security analyst once I completed the cyber certification of google?
I'd say you're more than qualified for soc positions with 9 years as a network engineer. Maybe just lacking in security principals? The Google cyber cert is mostly for beginners who haven't touched computers at all really much less networking/python/linux. You can of course go through as review, it's still good for that. I'd point you more towards Sec+ content IF you're unable to land a job with your current experience alone. Shouldn't need Google cyber cert or Sec+ for entry level security analyst roles with your exp. While you apply try your hacking skills with TryHackMe/HackTheBox :)
You can go after the firewall engineer path as a cybersecurity related role. Or possibly a security engineer with that experience rather than a SOC position or typical analyst work.
Hey, Mad Hat. Can you make a video about security testing, its aspects, and the skills that you need to know in order to do general application security testing? (Not in a cybersecurity position only; I am looking for staff that Qa engineers can also do in software security)
Hey, Love your content bro!! Completed my Google cybersecurity cert 2 weeks ago! =D studying a bit more to take on my Sec+701 exam. In the meantime i will be going back to document properly the 2 labs Ive done. (1-SIEM & 2- Malware Analysis)😝, any ideas on how to showcase my baby intro python skills? Thanks in Advance!
Hey man! Just found all your videos and I gotta say, it’s inspiring me to start this curiosity and passion I have to start a new career in the IT industry and I’m coming from a decade of an Owner operator/Truck Driving background so I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty nervous but I can’t wait to start by documenting my journey
Iv been a EMT for the past 7 years and past year im getting really burnt out. Iv been interested in Blue, Purple and maybe Risk management? I'm 28 and really nervous to jump into a whole new field i know nothing about. After some hours of more research and coming across your video's i think I'm ready and going to start with the Google cyber cert and go from there. If doesn't work out, i think Target and WOW will be my retirement plan lol
yet again another valuable video. You make the career change less nerve racking and give me more confidence as i slowly continue into this new field. Again.. we appreciate you!!
Seriously the best cybersecurity channel on UA-cam right now 👏 And the bit about documentation is spot on, lol - making peace with managing documentation was a big part of getting used to working in a SOC for me.
Dude...i haven't even finished the vid and am astonished by how much of a treasure this vid is. I woulda prolly missed all of this. Thank you so much for your time and effort my man. Greatly appreciate it
currently studying bachelors in cybersec and damm i get it now. me being the lazy ass i am just speedran 4 fucking semesters which covered Networking, Programming, Web Development, etc and all of their final projects were the ones you mentioned here. create a cybersecurity tool, functioning web page and a networking simulation that shows a three-tier network architecture. i half assed everything and now i realize this could have contributed to my portfolio. i will be serious from now on tho, felt like i just woke up from my lazy sleep
I know how to code. Got about a year and a half left to get my bachelors in cybersecurity and also 15 certifications. Learned basic networking and now im going to dive deeper into the cybersecurity. Hope one day i can make it good in the field.
really appreciate the videos mad hat I managed to land a associate position with just a sec plus and no prior IT experience (im lucky) Im going to try to go through the list you have here and probably go toward some other cert after I become more familiar I saw your cert video too.
Driving home the point of documenting everything makes all these projects feel much more tangible ALSO jesus you're underrated, like holy hell Please keep it up! Absolutely love the humor of the channel
I finished my bachelors and 90% done with my masters. Where do you put said portfolio so that the job hunters can find them? I keep hearing add this to a portfolio, but where do you put it? It ranges from computer networking, cybersecurity, and 80% of a Computer Science degree but ran out of GI bill, so dropped the second major lol. Anyways, do you put it in the same space?
You can put everything in the same space. Github is just one place that software devs use (can also be used for cyber projects) or you can make a website showcase everything that way. Just has to be accessible from a single URL so you can post just 1 line on your resume.

Drop that user name for league!!!! Lmaoo
Look forward to the advanced malware analysis video! Something that I would hate to screw up 😅
Can you hold my hand and help me build a home network? By hold my hand, I mean make a step by step MAD HAT video.....😁

What kind of job? SOC?
As someone who started “MyComputerCareer” a month ago, this video is legendary. I’ve got the passion, I just wasn’t really sure what a cybersecurity portfolio actually looked like. Thank you so much for this!
I'm starting in March. How was the program? Did you feel like you learned a decent amount from them?
I'm curious also. I'm supposed to start with them in April but I started looking at reviews and the people that loved it, LOVE IT and the ones that hated the program, REALLY hated it.
Wow mycc crew???
I'm always enamored by all the drip you have. Stay classy mang. :D

One mile a day and you will get there buddy.
What are the prerequisites knowledge for the projects bro..?
😢. You could say I'm starting with zero knowledge
cybersecurity guys DO NOT KNOW CODING?!!!
wha wha wha what!?
It's cybersecurity guys Achilles heel
@@madhatistaken but then... what was their field of graduation?
Been working on the service desk and getting frustrated in a stagnant position. I just got my Sec+ a few days ago. Next is a home project or two!
As i am going to start Cybersecurity soon, is it easy for me to build one of these projects ? Cuz i have 0 knowledge 😐.
no matter how goofy mad hat is the advice given is stuff I genuinely listen to
Does anyone have a link to an actual example of a portfolio though? What are these projects supposed to look like on there?
building a virtual network is much more usefull for the future . since cloud and vm are the way now .
Another great video! Nicely done 🎉
I am itching for a new vid from the GOAT
