one of the many things i truly love about this song is how matty healy incorporated the word "surrender" instead of the excessively used and cliche "falling in love". it felt so authentic in a manner that one would risk to knock down their fortresses for that person and it's simply enchanting.
this just sounds and feels so full circle. like here we still are after all these years. the whole album feels like that imo. it feels like self titled/iliwys but the 2022 version. it feels like coming home. so comforting
That's what music and film always seems to forget in the last few years, way back when, many years ago there were happy endings to films and bands kept their core sound when evolving, and stayed true to their sound for the fans, and film now there is hardly ever a happy ending, just to make it all risqué and edgy, mainly to sell out and follow the trend and cash. This song is such a bittersweet feeling. You can listen to all the melodies balance each other out so soothingly. The sweetness is so comforting. In my head, this song is tied to breads. My boyfriend and I used to call each other "loaf". On the day of our 3rd anniversary, he passed away. This song reminds me of a girl that became my dream, a dream I will probably never let go of. I have done everything I ever could for her, and if I could do anything more I would in a heartbeat. there's something special in this song I can't explain, of why I always keep on playing this on repeat, every single day, which made me obsessed with it. This feels like longing to that certain song from your childhood and you feel nostalgic all of a sudden when the truth is, you've never played this before. And whenever I played this, my mind automatically think of that certain place I've been longing, when I already know that, that 'certain place' isn't existing and I've never been there before.
