Husqvarna TC 85 Testing - Jetting Jetting Jetting

- Testing the TC 85 after some mods:
Bar Risers
Taller Seat
Turbine Core Silencer
Airbox Venting
Heavier Shock Spring
Skid Plate
Hand Guards
After all that, jetting is the issue. Bike is running really rich. Spark plug wet and very black, silencer spooge at an all time high. I changed out the main jet to lean it up, but that made it worse. I wanted to start there to see if that would improve the jetting - it didn't so I switched it back.

I don’t there is a jetting problem from what I can hear . That i believe is the port timing , it’s compromised down low on Mx competition machines (2t) to achieve the top end power .The opposite would be a 2t trials bike engine . A 300cc gasgas, beta, Sherco engine in that 85 would be a woods weapon for us small guys ,Ive thought about it. Maybe a smaller carb or carb wing would make the transition from low to top smoother.
Love the feedback Aaron. I would agree to the point of giving your suggestions a try. Thanks for watching
So what jets have worked best for you. Mine came with a 40 pilot and 140 main. Pilot is def too lean so going to try a 42 or 45 then maybe up a size on the main, getting it sorted out
I finally settled on stock main jet (145), 42 pilot jet and stock needle in position 4 (lower than stock). This was not perfect, but much better than stock for me.
What riding area is that?
Where did you get the hand guard’s from ? Are these off a big bike or do they make them for the 85?
Picked them up at AOMC.mx. They make them for the 85
Braaaap
do you have the keihein carb ? if so can I get you jetting specs, I am struggling since new with my 85sx
Yes, Keihein. I finally settled on stock main jet, 42 pilot jet and stock needle in position 4 (lower than stock). This was not perfect, but much better than stock for me.
Lean out the pilot not the main. Put stock main back in and lean the pilot to a 38
Needle clip position
U need a bigger bike try a 125
How old r you ? On an 85
age doesnt matter if your feet cant touch the ground on a full size bike :)
