They seems to be more of them each year, I've saw photos of a family of them in one of the Hackney parks last spring. It will be interesting if two hybrids breed, apparently they are fertile.
Excellent Ian - I'd be interested to see what it pairs up with, guess your unsure what gender it is. Alwais think of the Muscovy Duck and how quickly they hybridised with all the domestic farm species. Hard to find an out and out honest Muscovy amigo these days. Superb, Si.
Cheers Si, this is the first time I've seen one with both its parent species, I've see one with Canada geese before. No idea of gender, I'll keep an eye on it if it hangs around.

If these two species can interbreed, are they in fact different species?
They are indeed different species and different genus Branta/Anser.
